He’s probably reading all these posts about him and getting very upset by them too lol. The wonders of the internet pmsl.

He’s just become a dad and I think what happened to Marco last year has made him think a little on how precious life is. He’s achieved his goals in life and he’s nothing really to prove to anyone. I will miss him racing as I think he’s brilliant and I know Troy won on the Duke but only Casey ever did over a season and he’s proved just how good he was on it by everyone’s poor showing on it since.
Casey doesn’t like the way MotoGP is going too with the CRT bikes and maybe just maybe in the future he will come back but don’t count on it. I wish him all the best and hope he goes out as reigning champ too.

We had an Ibis Mojo HD built up in white with white rims and it looked awful, well and truly awful – but the customer liked it so hey ho there you go.

I’m a Liverpool fan and I did see it coming. I’m afraid Kenny’s tactics are stuck in the 80’s and as much as he’s a legend and always will be, running a club on sentimentality can’t be right. Liverpool fans will have to buck up and support the next manager whoever he may be. The fans let Hodgson down, as did the players and I’ve nothing but respect for the guy and actually glad when his team beat us – as daft as it sounds.
I’d love to see Martinez in the club but maybe a “big name” manager may be the one to try run the club so we shall have to wait and see.
As for Kenny going I think he shot himself badly in the foot with the Suarez issue and then to cap it off Suarez let him down. For a top flight club that debacle didn’t look good for the owners and the very very poor league results I’ afraid spelt the end.

funkrodent, go over to the mtbr forum and look on the Turner pages and see what’s written over there. If you can’t find anything ask and you’ll get some good replies. The cockpits are shorter on the 5 Spots but I find it perfect and it makes them easier to make quick changes in direction but I’d definitely get a demo on one from a shop where they will try dial you in with various size stems etc as yo may find the 5 Spot the better bike for you.

Wow surprised you’ve had no replies yet. Well I don’t own one but I’ve ridden one for a while and they’re very good. It surprised me how quiet it was to ride even when being hit by rocks and debris and the suspension system works really well, both climbing and descending. Size wise the medium suited me perfect as I’m not that tall as some mediums such as say a 575 Yeti comes up big. We’ve sold loads where I work, from SL’s to HD’s and now the SLR’s too. You’ll be very happy with it but being honest there’s not a lot to chose between any of the top-end bikes. I went for a Turner 5 Spot as it has the DW Link and I feel happier with an alloy frame than a carbon one but that’s purely my own opinion.

I’m running an XTR crank, MRP Lopes chain device and Goldtec 34t ring. Very very impressed with it so far too.

I run a 34t with a 11-36 block and I’m running 10 speed. You may find you will need the 36t but have aplay and see how it goes, especially as you say it’s flat.

I’m so glad I’ve read this post. I’ve just got hold of some RTC3’s and I was mulling over which bike fit them too. I currently run some Float 32 140’s on my Turner but I believe the extra 10mm and fork height will suit that frame better than my Cove Stiffee which will get the Floats now. Looking forward to trying them out 😀

Great riders can’t go on forever and I think Valentino’s time has passed and I know he’s till extremely talented and will go down as one of the very best, if not the best. I think there’s a new generation now and Jorge, Casey and Dani are that generation and it would have included Marco if it wasn’t for the tragic loss of his life. Casey doesn’t get the recognition he deserves from the media, especially the UK press but I think he’s just brilliant. The way he can put a fast lap in when qualifying is just unreal, he goes out, does a lap and then leaves the rest to try match him. He showed how he could ride the Ducati and he mastered what was a very difficult bike to ride – that’s his talent. Some of the slow-mo’s from Casey’s riding are just amazing and anyone who’s seen the Red Bull footage is surely in awe about it. Come on Casey I say!

rc I passed on a remark to my boss about only one tool being supplied and I’m sure two are sent out now -I hope.

Contact Aspire Velotech and they will give you a definitive answer and if there is such a thing they will also sell it and even though they’re in the States they’re brilliant to deal with and quick sending stuff to the UK as well.

I’m not sure with the older hubs if you can but check on CK’s site or with Aspire Velotech. I have the 20mm large shell hub that can be converted to 15mm as that’s exactly what it’s running at the mo as I run Fox forks. We made some 20mm to 15mm convertors at BETD even before CK did and we sorted the issue regarding floating rotors as well.

What a load of crap! Why call it “Live” when they’re showing stuff that’s recorded in the day. I’m sorry but it doesn’t make sense. I am fully aware if it was “live” we might end up watching lions asleep etc etc but because it’s broadcast live doesn’t warrant all the hype. I’d rather watch proper edited film footage than something presented as something special which it isn’t.

I have never been to Uni and the only accent I have is a Stokie’s so I must buck your trend. I am well mannered though and say thanks after a shag.

I’d love see Cal make the podium and he definitely has what it takes to do it. The thing is the 3 “Aliens” will take some knocking off the 3 top spots and there’s still Spies who hasn’t quite found last years form. But if Casey starts building a lead up in the Championship I can see a few more “factory” parts making there way into the Tech3 camp and who knows then. So come on Cal and also for Bradley and Scott in Moto2.

Doesn’t sound good that you’ve got a dent in your rim being honest. Track pumps haven’t got enough “humph” to get that initial bite but cartridge inflators do so I would have tried that first.

There will be some new stem top-caps coming from Goldtec soon that take the bottle top’s too. I’ll post some pictures up when I’ve done them 😀

Cove Stiffee! Here’s mine which will look a little different soon. It’s currently running some Pikes which I’d like to change and the wheels are also going.

I’m 5ft 8ins or thereabouts and I had a 16″ Summer Season and I needed a 410 post to make sure enough post was in the frame. I’ve not ridden an 18″ frame but you may just get away with it but enjoy may be another thing altogether.

Why question if the Hope fits okay as against the others? I know most of the lads who ride the Ibis just use the Cane Creeks and they’ve all been happy with them. Ask on the mtbr forum as I’m sure there’s loads of advice on that site.

Tyres, it’s as simple as that and because he now has confidence in them gripping and doing exactly what he thinks they’ll do he’s now able to compete at the top. Outstanding performance today and I’m positive he will get a podium this year.

Yeah, classic one and went and bought a performance car I didn’t need whatsoever. All sorted now and at peace with myself.

Spice Exchange at Milton is top top stuff. You don’t get much but the quality of the food is superb. Nice to see some Castle lads here too. The good thing with those in the town centre is there’s plenty of pubs as well 🙂

If you bought the frame new and are worried about the warranty then check with Whyte first. If it’s okay then go for it as you’ll find the bike will give you a little more confidence when going downhill and when ti comes to climbing, if the wheel starts to feel light or wander then just move your weight more towards the front. Simples.

If you want a proper DIY bearing remova/fittingl tool then these are superb! They make the job so so simple. No bashing or smacking hell out of anything and when it comes to re-fitting your bearings they make it childs play.

Not sure you’ll meet someone on the trails with another of those – very niche indeed.

It’s stiff! I had a Pace RC303 and ran that with an Easton EC70 Carbon post that took a bit of the sting out of it but in all honesty it wasn’t what you’d call an “all day bike” But I’ve bought this for having fun on on my local trails and as a commute as I have a Turner 5 Spot for other riding as well.
If you can get one for that price it’s a steal and you won’t loose any money on it in time to come. Plus the ano versions are better than the painted ones as Cove paint is notorious for being poor.
Size wise I’m not sure and you may need the large but ask the STW members and see what they think. If you want a chuckable bike it might be right.

I’m 5ft 8ins on a good day and the fit is just right. I bought the frame second-hand but if you want new CRC are doing them in Ano Grey for £320 delivered which to me is a bargain.

    Hadge

Yes it’s the anodised grey and it’s a 17.5″ frame as well.

I’ve owned both sets and I’m currently running CK hubs. No problems with the CK’s so far and still running nice and sweet as did the DT 240’s when I sold them. Finish wise I do believe that CK are the best out there and that’s why I chose them this time. You won’t go wrong with either so it’s your choice really.

I’d definitely say go for a medium.

There’s a slight whiff of bullshit regarding some of the strip/build times here and it really does depend on too many variables. What if a frame has internal routing or needs the bb pressing in etc etc. Some of our customers have their frames taped up prior to being built and that can take a lot of time as well. There’s no standard and if your not happy with the quoted time or cost try another shop or better still buy all the tools yourself and build it yourself -then it’s “free”
