@oldfart I know you are looking at doubles, I’m just coming from the point of trends changing and everything going the way of 1x’s. Even supporting doubles for us is getting risky and expensive stock wise.
HadgeFree MemberWe at Middleburn are not supporting triples anymore so the stock we have in, once it has gone is gone. It’s not viable to produce these chainrings anymore sadly.
HadgeFree MemberGoing off the classics and ones I owned it would be the Zaskar, Kona Lava Dome and a US ti Merlin Oreas. The Zaskar was just tough and did everything. The Lava Dome was my first ever new bike (1994 model) and the Merlin Oreas was just a titanium XC weapon. It was 21lb of pure speed – when I did my bit.
More modern stuff I loved my On One Summer Season. Slack as hell and great for going downhill.
5HadgeFree MemberWhy get angry over something you do not have to buy? Go ride your bike or enjoy something else. It’s just the world we live in dude.
HadgeFree MemberFirst time I’ve watched one and not bother to get to the end. Didn’t enjoy it, it’s past it’s best and needs putting out to grass. Sadly not entertaining and the car content is poor. I’d rather and do, watch Hammond on the Smallest Cog and Drivetribe and think that’s way way better than this Amazon guff.
1HadgeFree MemberLook guys, you can buy cheap MAX bearings on places like Amazon and for some of the bigger wide bearings they seem a bargain compared to Enduro but trust me they are shitte. You do get what you pay for and and Enduro are consistently good quality whereas some of the “other ” cheap ones mentioned on here are not.
1HadgeFree MemberBeing in the manufacturing side of the cycle industry our issue was basically raw materials, just the lack of it and it’s still an issue now. We couldn’t get some material at all, the prices quoted on one day would change the next to double or triple and it really was a nightmare. We heard off friends in the trade, as in running shops and their supply of stuff was awful.
As a manufacturer we also reached out to some bike brands to help out machining parts here in the UK for them but they decided to go Far East and today we’ve seen one brand tell everyone they are suffering due to this. Sometimes it seems you can’t help but that’s business I guess. Just lets hope we can all ride this storm out and come out the other side.
HadgeFree MemberThe Middleburn bottom brackets we supply now get shipped with bearings with a 24mm inner diameter as I do not like the plastic sleeve as it’s prone to causing issues. Yes the axle could be an issue and it requires measuring to see if this is the problem.
HadgeFree MemberOn RS8 there is a bearing preload collar you adjust, not the wavey washer. The wavey washers are used on RO2 X type cranks or tandem sets.
HadgeFree MemberDo you mean like a lose arm? If the arm has been removed and not installed properly this will cause issues as once lose it can move on the spline thus exaggerating wear. Send me an email at paul@betd.co.uk and I’ll see if we can help as we manufacture Middleburn. Please send some pictures so I know which logo they are as that will age them for us.
HadgeFree MemberThoroughly enjoyed the game and the result. Because I’m a Cowboys fan and didn’t want them being 6 times winners – sorry 9er’s fans (I’m sure you’d be rooting for the Boys if we were there – not)
Chiefs defence was outstanding, as was San Fran’s being honest but Mahomes is just sublime. Feeling it now as I stayed awake and then went into work. Early night for me later………..
HadgeFree MemberI was putting a new frame bearing kit onto our website the other day and it had a total of 18 bearings in it. To replace the whole lot in one go would be really really expensive so I had to list what each linkage contained so they could at least order those on their own.
HadgeFree MemberMiddle chainrings have ramps and pins fitted to help move the chain from the chainring to the outer and inner. A narrow/wide will not have this assistance and being as they are designed to hold the chain on, it may cause issues.
4HadgeFree MemberGood luck for the future guys and here’s to a great 2024 hopefully.
HadgeFree MemberI’m very happy with my Naim Nait XS3/ND5 XS2 through Neat Motive SX3’s for streaming music. I also have a Bluesound Node 2i which I was using before the Nait. It’s a fab bit of kit and punches well above it’s weight for the price.
HadgeFree MemberYou do wonder where this crap comes from. Speaking to people in the trade and it’s on its knees right now and yet these idiots spout this garbage.
HadgeFree MemberAs mentioned a few times, try MPB or London Camera Exchange. A Canon Facebook selling page would be a good idea too. If you sell as a job lot on Facebook you will get asked to split so bear that in mind. eBay is a minefield and the fees are ridiculous. Only ever sell on that site when they do the 1% offer on fees. Always insure it for the full value, taking pictures pre-packed and post packed to save any arguments.
MPB are the best, they will collect etc but you will get a little less than actual value BUT it saves time and hassle, bit like We Buy Any Car if you know what I mean.
Prices are better if trading in too.HadgeFree MemberI recently purchased a Breitling Avenger Seawolf 2 with the Pro Diver strap and Cobra yellow face and went to have the deployant strap adjusted and the jewelers I went are Rolex dealers and I did enquire about buying a GMT Submariner as I was looking at some second hand.
Apparently the new model is out now but the waiting list is very long and I was advised if I bought another model of Rolex it would put me in a better position in the waiting list. But why would I buy say a Datejust model just to bump up the queue? This is sadly the way a lot of Rolex dealers work and trying to buy the actual watch you want is a minefield and they push you to buy something else to get the watch you want. I overheard another customer trying purchase a £25k watch and he was having the same issues and was politely pushed towards another very very expensive model until the watch he actually wanted became available.HadgeFree MemberIf you fancy something different then don’t forget Middleburn cranks.
HadgeFree MemberI have a Nikon F5 which is superb and also uses all my lenses of my digital Nikons which is a huge bonus. The metering is spot on which considering it was a very expensive pro camera speaks volumes for Nikon quality.
I grew up on fully manual cameras so even now I’m not a machine gun user with my D4, D500, D810 or D3 digital bodies.HadgeFree MemberWatched it last night and loved it. I love the dark gritty psychological aspect of it and Phoenix portrayed the part brilliantly. It was painful to see how he suffered (the character) and I’m hoping there’s more to follow like this. I’m not a fan of the old Batman films, too tongue in cheek, I prefer realism and this had it in bucket loads. Superb film.
HadgeFree MemberI’m with AF but when I came to renew my insurance for my Golf R it had hiked up massively for some reason. So I went on the price comparison sites, got a much cheaper quote and then told them what I’d got and they beat it. Unless you ask or get shirty with them, they will take what they can so for me it worked.
HadgeFree MemberJust make sure you specify the right 3802 bearing as well. The standard 3802 is 15x24x7 and it’s the 3802 W that is 15x24x10. The static load for a 6802 MAX is 310lbs, the standard 3802 MAX is 940lbs and I do not have the figures for the W type sadly. The 3802 W-LLB is 520lbs as well.
HadgeFree MemberThe pricing of the TT UNO’s was kept exactly the same as when old Middleburn made them, so BETD has not increased any prices at all. We have changed the tooth profile on the Thick/Thin ones we now produce and we have had no bad feedback or complaints and if anyone has issues then we would love to hear back from them.
The rings are dished so they can achieve the correct chain line with the existing forgings I’d guess but maybe you could ask the original designer.
HadgeFree MemberIt was also good for showing the fall of the Russian state and how badly it was run. The country was on it’s knees but kept up the false news and facts of how good or bad everything was. Great programme and thoroughly enjoyed. To add I’m also reading a book about the Chernobyl incident and the facts make dire reading indeed.
HadgeFree MemberWe’ve got Middleburn 104bcd in 32t normal as well as TT ones. Think we might have some Goldtec ones in tock too.
HadgeFree MemberMy lad has one and he loves it. Sizing wise it’s definitely worth trying one as the small/medium seems to come up a bit short and I always ride medium sized bikes but I could easily run a large. I run a carbon Bronson and I’d definitely change to one for my next bike.
HadgeFree MemberI would love to go and think I must add it to my bucket list. Fabulous track and the atmosphere is always good and the weather is usually very good too.
HadgeFree MemberA friend had the EVO2 and I love them but they aren’t an easy car to live with. Compared to a modern 4wd hot hatch they are just not in the same league. My love of the 4wd hot hatch got me my Golf R which is now Stage 2+ and will trounce most cars going, it is very rapid indeed. Love the EVO’s for what they are and I’d buy one in a heart beat if I had the money spare but it would be a true “weekend car”
HadgeFree MemberFWIW a Max bearing is designed for higher loads so for frames they are better than a standard 2RS bearing which are better for hubs and you require less friction. Bearing lifetime varies greatly on how they are looked after, how and where they are placed in frames as some frames are notorious for putting all the crap off the trails where the pivots are and where the bearings sit – Yeti for one. So I would avoid any standard 2RS bearing for frames because of the intended use.
HadgeFree MemberMiddleburn did 58bcd rings as well so if you ever need any more please email me at paul@betd.co.uk and I will help you out.
HadgeFree MemberThere’s a golf course near where I live and I’ve heard the Tawny Owl calling and lucky enough to see it flying a few times, usually over my head when I’m walking the dogs.
Best I ever saw was on a late evening ride home from work and came across a Short Eared Owl flying over the tall grass. I just stopped and watched it, absolutely stunning to see and very very rare to see where I live.HadgeFree MemberSorry I can’t recommend anyone but you may find with it being such an old player it’s going be quite costly source any parts for it but it does depend what needs doing. I’d look for any dealer who sells decent turntables like Rega, Linn and then enquire with them. At least they can give you a ball park figure.
In my humble opinion if it’s a big sum you would be better off buying something like a Rega RP1 especially as it will definitely out perform the Systemdek.HadgeFree MemberWe used to do a lot of helicoil for riders cranks but we cannot do the machining any more sadly. However we do have the inserts here if anyone needs any. If you do just get in touch with me.
HadgeFree MemberIt will be the way the linkage was designed and the positioning of the bearings in relation to the shock pivot. We made linkages for the old Spesh FSR Enduro’s where we increased the travel from 90mm to either 100mm or 130mm and even 120mm to 150mm and again the BB height was kept the same. We do this with CAD/CAM work. I don’t know the full in’s and out’s as to how the design guy did them as I only worked on the CNC lathes. Regarding the seat tube angle I have no idea if these changed but I’m sure I could find out.
HadgeFree MemberIt massively depends on how you clean your bike with any FS bike. Use too much stuff such as Much-Off and it will eat into the bearings no matter where they are. One thing you must do though is keep on top of any VPP or DW Link as they really do work so much better with fresh grease or bearings.
