Short stays and a high bottom bracket DO NOT make it easier to wheelie or manual.
those traits make it easier to raise the front wheel BUT MORE DIFFICULT to hold the balance point.

Once you can wheelie. You can wheelie anything. I learned 40 years ago at around 7yrs old on a racer that was far too big for me and can still wheelie pretty much any bike except TJs tandem.
Manualling a bike that’s far too long or high(saddle clearance) isn’t so easy.

S’pose I have a routine but been doing this so long it just seems the norm.

Massive bike clothing wardrobe/chest of drawers
Huge collection of footwear kept toasty in boiler cupboard.
5 bikes in perfect working condition ready to be ridden. 3 are mudguarded and have spares etc. on them (the other 2 are a BMX and 4X bike and ridden in non bike clothing more often than not) 3 have lights on them always charged.
Bikes I rarely use are stored elsewhere.
Car is always ready to swallow bikes whole (but has a neatly folded towbar rack in it all the time too just incase)

    So zero faf really.

I played last night and tried quali laps with wheel in automatic , then controller automatic, then wheel with gears. The wheel made little difference to times. But Gears did.
Bought a non forcefeedback wheel a couple of years back and sent it back as I was quicker on controller.

Every Gran Turismo game over it’s 20 year history has had no damage and that “thunk”. This still being the case in GTSport shouldn’t surprise anyone.
You’re not wrong about the replays looking good. But you know what’s even better? When you take a break from racing and watch 12 of your mates race.
Why wouldn’t you want to race online though?

    This?

PS+ is a no brainer. 2 or 3 free games every month for what? £4ish? Generally one big(ish) title, a PSN title and a shared PS3/4/Vita title. it also gives you discounts and offers in the store, online storage and other member benefits.

GTSport is really really good. I wouldn’t ever trust the review of someone who played a game once. it’s a 72GB game. You barely skim the surface in one evening. Online racing is great and rewards good clean/fair racing. so helps if you already have a bunch of mates who also drive clean.
There’s a massive in game livery creator for the cars, race kit etc. and heaps of tuning options if customisation and creating is of interest. if not you can still customise everything using the designs others make “public”
The DLC is all also free and there’s a lot more coming.
10yr old sounds about right if he’s mature enough to play fair online. My 8yr old has just started playing and is 25% through the license challenges and still learning the ropes. She’s never played a driving game before so it’s a steep learning curve and is finding some of the technicality needed to get times down frustrating. She’s no way ready to race online yet.

Driveclub looks nice plays alright for an arcade racer but I found it fairly disappointing depth wise.

Wasn’t a fan of the DIRT series on PS3 so haven’t tried 4 or Dirt Rally on PS4.

If you’re after a great arcade (non clean) racing game GTAV is one of the best ever made IMO. not sure how you feel about that. But mute mics and it’s actually harmless. Campaign. not so much. 😉

Have you been over the bars using them?

    How many times?

I’ve always wondered what happens when you get spat over the bars with these things on your bike. I know Fatbikes never go fast enough for that to ever happen. So please put yours on a normal bike and tell us?

    No. no it really isn’t.

Unless of course you meant an IQ test.

Wow! I do know fine well how dull and number obsessive roadies are these days but did you actually watch the entire 18minutes of a wheel spinning in a jig? If so do all us more normal folk a favour and post what time to FFWD to for the “explosion”, eh?

Are there any ‘off road sportive’s”?

Yes. they call it Enduro. Disguise it as a DH stage race and make you carry your own food.

why does it have to be an event?
just plan a 50mile loop and ride it when you want. for free.

or do an Audax. they only cost a few quid. not sure how many you’ll find as short as 50 miles though.

says the man loyal to a couple of brands

    I’m not.
No one else makes a grip even close to as good as the Sensus range for riding gloveless all year round. This is annoying as they are actually made by ODI and therefore can be copied by others. The second a grip as good as the sensus comes out at a sensible price there’ll be no loyalty to the brand whatsoever from me.

Same deal with Shimano cranks really. Except Shimano manufacture their own and no one else has yet come up with anything as light/durable/affordable as Saints.

Like I said brand loyalty is stupid!
Buying the most suitable product for your use isn’t.

Mine are just stuff I’ve found I like and that work for me at a decent price.

Ah.. Ok. Then I’ll add these:

Personally I’d keep the better damped more adjustable fork on the full sus bike no matter which was used more.

Ps. do people really worry about replacement parts prices while riding?

    Sensus grips.
    Shimano cranks

That’s it. Brand loyalty is stupid.

    Do you still freeride bro?

    Seriously?

Just make sure the tyre bead is pushed into the rim well properly to give enough slack to roll the last part of the bead over.

you don’t even need strong thumbs.

(Make sure none of your rims has a thick rim tape)

If you ride up, along and down it’s XC. Always will be no matter what marketing fad you fall for.

Been riding XC on Saints pretty much since their introduction.

Dirt makes grips gripper for bare hands. It’s moisture that makes them slippy. Use the correct grip and it’s really not an issue.

Have you really never ridden a bike in the woods without having all the mandatory mtb wardrobe? Steeve1

XTR has never been close in stiffness or strength to a MK1 SAINT crank. And Shimano never said it was. Mk1 saints are still in production as DXR BMX racing crank guise and probably the most common choice for this application. For good reason.

I have bent a Saint crank. But it’s still stronger than anything else recommended here so far.

    gwurk

Oh… so you read the marketing blurb?

    Must be strong

    😕

    gwurk

if you ride bikes enough you no longer have pansy hands.

    gwurk
    Free Member

How strong is it? Coz 5.6lb for a small hardtail frame sure as hell isn’t light

    gwurk
    Free Member

I bent a set of XTR arms fairly easily. Probably around 10 years back I’ve no idea if they are the same version you are talking about though.
Have you actually checked yours are straight (and not twisted either) if they’ve genuinely had a hard life?

I’m running current cinch turbines on one bike. but I have a set of Saints to replace them with when they fail or the chainring wears out (whichever is first). They haven’t been given too much of a hard time so far though.

    gwurk
    Free Member

Aeffects are good. Old XTR are better though.

    Are either actually strong though?
and how did you quantify it?

    gwurk

    mad? probably not.
    Stupid? possibly
