    27.2
good condition, no dents, cracks but a few paint scuffs from transportation/storage. it was mainly used to ride to stables and back and by it’s previous (female owner) for family rides. I’ve only ridden it one mile then stripped it or parts.
not sure on the exact age, late 90s/early 00s? can find out if you really need exact year.
frame will work well with your fork wound down but horribly with it wound out (but then, so does a 456 😉 )

Riding HT makes you look at different lines but not necessarily the ones you would use on FS so how much use that is I dunno.

that’s probably ’cause you’re talking shite. looking at different lines makes you look at different lines. sadly something most folk don’t bother doing at all whatever bike they’re on.

just ride way ahead so you don’t have to listen to her like so many married men seem to when they go biking with their missus.

Replay’s been up for a few hours now.

    DH is rigged this year

spot on Kes! I hear they started this conspiracy two years ago by redesigning certain features of the Fort William track to make sure they’d take Sam Hill out of the running and were seen recently replacing course tape at the french Crankworks comp.

Sorry, it’s a Tempest (was getting mixed up as I have a 16″ agressor and 18″ Tempest)
    it’s like this one..

I’ve only ridden it once, one lady owner before me (a friend and it had v. light use)

I’ve got an 18″ one you can have for £20.

    Don – I wasn’t talking about hardtails.
IMO if you can’t ride a 140mm full sus well you’ll ride a 180mm one just as badly.

“Skill compensator” is such a stupid term and I think I’ve only ever seen used here.
Proper long travel only really works if you have decent skills in the first place

How many lay bys big enough for an HGV to pull into were on this 4mile stretch of road?

3 pages? No new personal problems in the chat forum today?
Like many drivers the OP needs to read the highway code, has little foresight and is too confruntational for someone who’s wrong! Pity one of the cyclists couldn’t have calmly explain how wrong he was then he could have come running to the forum to share his newly found knowledge and educate a few other bad drivers.

Just ridden over a slightly softer surface by any chance?

next time wait for sleeping beauty to wake up, spend the morning excercising in bed and head down to GT in the afternoon.- you’ll see all the cars with bikes on heading back with not a single smiley face behid the wheel. My guess is they all have to get back for DIY duty ( their wives prob had to make do with DIY too.)

it’s not roadbiking or the olympics so not much interest on here. 🙁

was out riding so missed it but looking forward to watching the replay, sounds like a good race.

Nah, any top 20 protected rider will be seeded to start just before the top 20. (ie. 21st to last off)
quite a few of them in that boat for finals tomorrow.

try that but remember too little oil and a fork may top-out from lack of damping.

Oh.. you do, you’re just not very. 😉

WTF does your last sentence mean? 😕

You’re looking for something like this…

    http://www.wheresweyland.com/images/2006_marzocchi_service_manuals/2006-all-mountain%20sl.pdf

but obviously for the year of fork you have

    GW

It could be more complicated than it first appears. I asked a simple question about fork oil lastnight and discovered that it might not be quite so simple.
What weight oil did the guy you got them off, put in?

..and now you’re an expert? 😆

find a service guide for the fork online Tony.
stripping and re-filling the damping oil in a fork is not complicated or difficult but you need to know oil levels/volumes and weights.

    For the hard of reading..

    OP said:

She is also partially disabled, and needs a low standover height so she can “step through” to get on the bike rather than swing her leg over the saddle the way most of us can.

So, what is the lowest standover on a small MTB frame that we know of in the real world – answers/bikes/frames around 20-21 inches or lower would be ideal, women specific or just small sizes, doesn’t matter.

TJ – how do you have any idea what height his bars are at present? and are you aware that the term “death grip” means gripping the bars without covering the brakes?

it’s always far easier to ride down than walk down the steepest bits on a DH track.

Cheers Njee, (I rarely have a clue what Juan’s point is)

Al, Why would I want to look at ugly ones?

    GW

Sorry but none of the above replies are even worth investigating.

20″ stand over is not really possible for a traditional (mens style) 26″ wheeled double triangle hardtail frame. (a 14″ frames’ standover will be around 26-28″)

The only options I can think of to find anything that low with 26″ wheels would be a trials frame where the seat-tube might not even work for anything other than stood up riding or to go with a traditional ladies style frame with a dropped top tube or none at all.

    or

The top one is a Giant Revel, a neighbour has the mens version and it’s not a bad (cheaper) bike for the money

    GW

yes, Al, well done for understanding English. Now, seeing as you’re so good at it, could you be so kind as to make sense of Juan’s post for me?

    GW
    Free Member

Yes because then they’d have been riding for a pro cycling team instead of teamGB

those numbers sound pretty alright on paper for a small frame.

does look a bit weird in the pics tho. 😕

    GW
    Free Member

Went with those tyres so as not to detract too much fron the frame, I think that all black tyres would make it look chunkier

But it’s not about how it looks is it, it’s about how it rides

    m’kay 😆

front centre looks all wrong (unless they are 200mm cranks)
to get some perspective, what’s the wheelbase and chainstay length ?

arseing around adds to confidence and good style destroys the confidence of lesser skilled rivals.

    😉
