a slit 2l plastic drink bottle has enough plastic to replace a broken fender bender (and won’t have any lame “mucky nutz” logo). simply use your old fender as a template

    reducers wear too, replace them?

Poly – I know folk who will sit and input destination details to their GPS before they drive somewhere they’ve been hundreds of times, funnily enough they’re all blokes.

You could imagine it’s because blokes have poor memory but the reality is
blokes like gadgets/toys but most are tight (so want to eek every penny of VFM out of any new toy they get)

Given your previous threads I can understand why you’re asking.

TBH I can’t really understand why you’re asking.
You already have one Ton, just enjoy it and don’t GAF what anyone else thinks! 😉

Wow!!! Islabikes in (maybe) being shit shocker 😯

a drill and a BMX caliper brake would sort out most kids for braking (and me if I’m honest)

do all of you who have problems/need maps/GPS etc. roadride in areas far from home?
can’t imagine getting lost anywhere in a 60mile radius from home.
the whole point in my roadbike is to ride it from home tho.

    Yes.
very little clearance with a 2.35 (which isn’t actually that large) Minion and Rebas.. un-rideable in some circumstances so I’ve stuck with the velcro to whip it off if I have to. (even if some internet experts think it causes no more of a problem than the bare arch would 😉 )

wouldn’t it cheaper/less hastle to buy a replacement fork off Isla than finding a welder and powder coater and all the running around with it?
or are you just after a cheap shoddy bodge job?

Well I don’t have kit to cut down and thread a wheel QR so that’s out. Bloody good idea though.

not sure how effective that would be anyway, the old Shimano seat QR skewers were thicker in diameter than a wheel skewer

I don’t see why she couldn’t have folded the pushchair up and put it on the rack above the bikes, there was plenty space there. I presume all pushchairs do do that?

Yes, they all do as long as the storage shelf underneath the seat isn’t full of stuff. it can sometimes be a slight PITA to empty the shelf but if you use public transport often you should be used to it, buses round here only let ONE unfolded pushchair on so if you happen to board a bus with one already on it HAS to be folded.

    just stand up more frequently.
Turbo training gives me this no matter what saddle I use, only the second I stop I usually get an involuntary raging ****-**..
must remember never to give spin classes a try! 😈

Wish shimano still made seat QRs

the old ones with their cam action are still the best design ever produced, pity they’re heavy and ugly. a modern Deore/XT version is long overdue.

Yeah, coz Ebay will deliver by the morning 🙄

any decent bike shop should have 20mm hub bearings and fit them while you wait (5min job tops), it’ll prob cost you more than £13 tho

    GW

Just get a 7 speed cassette will only cost you a tenner, you’ll need a spacer to fit it on a 8/9 speed free hub.

7 speed spacing is different to 9

no it doesn’t! it does mean you’ll be more likely to sit down while you ride tho. be careful you don’t get too comfy you may fall asleep. 😉

One ride in 2 weeks? and you feel the need to tell others to forget Lock-on’s?

Rusty – yes, tried both many times, infact I’ve had a shot of both in the last month.

grips aren’t for comfort, they’re for control.

old hope XCs eventually crack, call Hope, be honest and send them back for their “inspection” I bet you’ll be very happy with their decision.

hardcore = a bit of weight does not matter.

on here “hardcore” usually means long expensive fork on over built overly heavy steel frame ridden mostly sat down.

to any decent rider a bit less weight does make a difference.

Monkey – Yes, I’ve tried them, have you? seeing as you’re giving them a rather glowing review having only just fitted the things – plenty of fashion whores I know use them.

    Spanner –

    Yes, it’s not exactly difficult.

Yes, far better than brakes or suspension forks

    foam grips do slip

Lock-on’s solve the problem* they set out to fix perfectly.

    * for the hard of understanding, that’s ordinary grips moving under hard use and poor weather conditions.

don’t think I’ll be forgetting about Lock-on’s anytime soon. best product you can fit to a bike IMO.

ESI grips are not more grippy than lock-ons, but even if they were more grip’s not a lot of use when they spin on the bars.

IME You’ve got this the wrong way round Terry, Cheap nasty kids bikes often use parts that absolutely cannot be replaced by anything other than a direct replacement from the manufacturer as they are pretty much considered disposable and only built to last the fife of the weakest component. better quality lids bikes use the exact same fixture standards as adult bikes (BBs shells, headtube diameters, axle spacings, bar/stem diameters etc.)

    GW

So if I understand you correctly, your point seems to be that you can only get hold of specific compontents from the actual manufacturer of said components? and OE components are often only available from the bicycle company/dealer? exactly the same as specific adult components then, aye?

Suitable alternative replacement kids components are readily available from many other suppliers in exactly the same way as with adult bikes.
