110mm but it doesn’t really matter as you’d need to machine new spacers anyway

it will work, but you need to make it work 😉

wouldn’t be too difficult to convert a 14mm BMX hub

Not sure what you mean by a heavy chain damaging the bikes, mine regularly endure a 200lb weight 😉 but if you are worried about the chain damaging your bikes paint etc., slip an old DH/MX innertube over it

    31.8 is not lighter.

Check weights of every bar/stem that was ever available in both diameters if you don’t believe me.

    25.4 bars (and obv stems)
    20mm axles
Sub 100mm travel forks on hardtails

    Wrong
It’s how it controls low speed hits. Small bump can still cause a high speed hit.

saddle height should be lower than your nads when stood over it with your feet flat on the floor, it should be clamped near the centre of the rails (for strength) and tilted back around 30deg otherwise it just gets in the way of having fun.

29mm (internal), it’s ‘practically’ the same rim as the (now renamed) EX729

mboy – point being 30psi was too high for a 12st reletively quick DH rider/racer to run up front (yes, I said front), a DH tyre was absolutely fine at much lower pressures than that with a tube. Bottom line is 30psi was too hard for the majority of DH tracks I rode/raced, I may add the burping was simply from hard cornering without rock (or any other object) deflection.
All current mtb tubeless systems are still a flawed for proper hard use IMO

Cool balance bike there son 😉

the red def does spoil it BTW 😉

ha ha… a D321 is almost 700g and going tubeless won’t save any weight.

I did try a D321 tubeless (about 13 years ago, BMX tube and Michelin comp 16 – “nagasti” pretty much the only tubeless ready tyres available back then) it was useless, burped air at anything under 30psi

probably given him a little too much attention when he whinges or given in to his whinging for an easy life (all too easily done) when he whinges about something, smile and simply ask him to repeat his request nicely without whingeing (in words he’ll understand obv.). he should get the hang of it eventually.

My old Vindec had horizontal drop-outs.
Nowadays we have the choice to run a SS tensioner on a geared frame and keep the same chainstay length so I don’t see your horizontal drop-out frames as being particularly more versatile.

A normal bog standard off the shelf hardtail would have been far more versatile for the riding described and a lot less hastle

    Didn’t come across that way.
Almost any hardtail or road/cross bike can be run ss or geared fairly easily (Hub or derailleur)

    what’s “trolly” about my statement?
His bike is about as versatile as my 10 speed Vindec racer was in the 70s.

What’s the point in a distillery tour? (Genuinely don’t understand)
I live less than a mile from a distillery and am surrounded by decent trails but have a local to get pished in.

I thought there was more risk of rotational injury from the helmet NOT rotating on the head. :/

my 2yr old faceplanted a few weeks back belting down a fairly steep hill in the wet, her only injury was a small graze above her lip, she didn’t have a helmet on at all, never mind a life saving “peak” 😯

😆 kid doesn’t even take the fall on his head, he lands on his cheek before the helmet is pushed out the way.. possibly causing rotational injury? 😉

round by us they cleaned the bottles, re-filled and re-sold them.. kinda weird you got your deposit for just the tops :/

We had a local juice factory in the town I grew up in, a few of us realised how easy it was to climb over the fence into the factory to steal empty bottles and take them round the corner to the chippy when we needed money. This set us in good stead for helping ourselves at the local Brewery a few years later too 😉

    trb –
so, let me get this straight, you made up a pointless rule for YOUR family but it angers you that other families oblivious to YOUR rule don’t adhere to it? Not only this but YOU can ignore your own rule when you feel like it? the icing on the cake seems to be that you actually do care how these other families view you and your crazy rules, have you thought of printing out a rule book and handing it out to keep them right? 😆

Bernard – everything I typed is factually true.

If you want to buy a helmet for your child, the exact same advice as buying one for yourself applies. ie. try on a few and get one that fits properly whilst giving adequate protection/coverage with little discomfort.. nothing wrong with getting an idea of what’s out there to buy first but I wouldn’t recommend blindly buying the helmet most praised by complete strangers on the internet without first trying it (whether for yourself or a child).

Mastiles, had you ever worn a cycle helmet at 5yr old? Other than on TV I’d only seen them on pro riders in the milk race.

    GW

No helmet. Teaches them to ride within their limits and how to fall off more carefully.
Helmets have been proven to be pointless. I’d also worry about rotational injury with a child of 5 with such a large head.

A Torch I ordered back at the end of last summer only arrived a couple of weeks ago. I’d actually given up on ever recieving it but for the tenner outlay it’s actually still been well worth the horrendous wait. Nothing else I’ve ordered has taken any longer than about 4wks.

That may look tidier but ahead stems clamp your steerer more securely with a spacer above.
