Get a S/H DH bike to race, uplift, take to the alps/canada and a hardtail for your stunt riding.

I could sell you a complete DH bike and a stunt hardtail frame/fork (if you’re not massively tall or really short).

Back in march I bought a brand new 250gb slim 360 from Ebuyer for £168 then recieved £20 cashback.. (I’d expect they’ll be even cheaper by now)

I’d looked on Gumtree/ebay and locally in cash converters and it seemed daft to go s/h for the tiny saving (often for an inferior model with no (or v. short) guarantee.

    I want-

To get loose and not worry
    Ride lots of jumps
    Ride steep
    Trail feedback
To be able to hop when i want without putting my back out
    I enjoy manualling everywhere
Make visually pleasant shapes in the air
I’d rather pick hop lines through the rough, rather than straight line monster trucking

You just described the perfect use for a dirtjump/4X hardtail.. short stays and 100mm max fork travel

If it goes “helooo I’m the moooon” followed by odd anecdotal tales I’d be tempted 😉

    Ta Junkyard.

This came up in conversation last night speaking to a French girl, I conceded the English language is simply stupid.

I wouldn’t want to wear armour for the climb, the track’s fairly flat/easy from the wallride down so can’t see it being needed. (Is it a requirement?)

Practice not comfort braking/dragging. This IMO is the biggest cause of arm pump annd it’s far too easy to make the mistake of thinking taking it easy early on will help ( it won’t! Taking it easy anywhere between the last boardwalk up top and the wallride means braking far too much)

    I’d like a shot of that 😯

what’s the top speed on elec?, and smallest size they do?

MX6s were amazing, you could set them up with a bias depending on whether there were more L/H or R?H corners on the track.
a thru axle with no pre-load adjustment was a godsend in the off-camber too, not to mention the stroke of genius that being able to service them with chain lube was. 😉

decent reviews that actually give you an impression of how the bikes ride (not just 5 stars to the highest bidder) and decent coverage of local scenes.

what? like.. needs a shorter stem/wider bars, would be amazing with a CCDB or doesn’t quite match the Geometry of an Orange?
Reviews in Dirt have on the whole been laughable at best.

I actually find Enduro style XC (and gravity enduro) duller than old skool XC to read about. and in pics it mainly looks shite..

Ah.. when falling rate suspension, practically undamped coil shocks with pointless piggybacks and RST Hi5s were the cutting edge of design, eh? 😉

speaking of ~Marin, does Dave Hemming still work/ride for them?

slower and less manouverable (I prefer a 2.35 60a rear with a 2.5 3C upfront at every Scotish DH track Scotland for those reasons)

TBH 160mm is shit loads of travel, when Ft Bill DH track was built it was rougher than it is now and DH bikes had a whopping 100-150mm travel

Kye FortePaul Roberts k`in rules! 8)

bought every issue of Dirt from issue1 (must be 17? years 😯 ) but finally had to admit it had lost almost everything I ever liked about it sometime last year, bought a couple of issues since (old habits) but they just confirmed what I already knew..

WC Tracks should not be built to the low standard of Women’s riding. (There was a chicken line)

No matter how monsterous the crash or how far you’re flung down the hill, if you still want a time that has always been the rule..

I didn’t mention Peat at all. WC racers have clambered back up to rejoin tracks through broken tapes following this rule for as long as the WCs been running.

Haven’t watched again but I will concede the straight had a slight bend to it 😉

Aye, def up for some fisting DH this w/e. What day?

You can agree to disagree if you like, you’re perfectly entitled to beieve anything you want no matter how glaringly wrong it happensd to be. 😉

4.1.035 If a rider exits the course for any reason, he/she must return to the course at the same point from which he/she exited.

there is no mention of “corners” or “shortening the course” as it’s irrelivent to the rule, this is the same rule the UCI have always upheld in every WC final in the 20yrs I’ve watched WC DH racing, until the farcicle “rule change” used during yesterday’s race.

When exactly did this “rule change” come into effect?
And more importantly, when were all the top riders/teams informed of the “rule change”?

IMO the answer to both is yesterday!

my view on this has nothing to do with preference towards any rider but consistency, if a new rule in any sport comes into effect it should be made clear to every competitor/team as and when it is to change. and certainly not halfway through a season seconds after the longstanding rule is broken.

didn’t mention a corner, she went through the tapes on pretty much a straight.(had she managed to land the jump properly and stay online) did you not watch it?

Mark, when in he last 20yrs of WC DH as the rule been interperited this way?

    Never before is the answer.

C Ball didn’t make the rule.. he’s merely voiced an opinion via twitter (seems a dumb thing to do in this situation to me)

    Thete is no debate!

    Short stem = pinner
    Long stem = ponce
    (70mm isn’t short)

Tailor bar width/height to rider size and riding style.

FFS she gained a huge time advantage by breaking the rules and not re-entering where she left.

T Hannah won, E Ragot still leading and R Atherton DSQd is how it should have been called.

Aaron Gwin only rides one cos he’s paid to. If he had a choice he’d have one of them orange bikes.

During chain idler testing the 224 was proven to be a faster bike chainless, given Gwin won qualis this weekend with no chain maybe he’s onto something. 😉

other than it being ugly, overly heavy, gatelike, tall, ropey handling, undergeared, over-braked, weak/flexy rimmed and badly chain-retentioned it’s lovely.

the clutch might deal fairly well with the extra chainslap from having to run a long enough chain to cope with your dinner plate sized largest sprocket better but it certainly won’t be any match for a lower guide when it comes to keeping your chain from derailling from below if back pedalling over rough ground.

    Yes

but DHF front and bald bling bling rear is my all time favourite all weather tyre combo..
the drier or wetter it becomes the more fun the bike becomes.

DHF and Blings have way better edge knob design (ie. they’re the same) than a highroller and that’s all that matters to me.

slight rub at the extremes of chain angle shouldn’t be a major problem, plastic sliders/guide plates on chainguides “wear in” with use.

make sure it’s also set-up not to rub excessively or cause any other problems throughout the full movement of your swing arm too.

    Why no lower guide BTW?

I’m in an almost identical situation with mine.

She bumped my (work) car in an empty car park and I went ballistic, not because of the damage, but because it was the straw that broke the camels back. She spends more money than we have, she’s lazy, she’s piled on weight to the stage that I’ve started to find her physically repulsive – there’s more that I won’t bore you with.

I want to leave for a number of reasons but just can’t bring myself to do it. I couldn’t walk away from our two kids – they’re the most important thing in the world to me.Don’t worry, the courts almost always give custody to the Father if the mother has put on weight..

    rather irrelevant I’d have thought

if it’s for DH at your weight I’d be tempted go with a burly 22.2 BMX stem and moto bars.
