Sorry by towing hitch meant the built in car tow hitch at the rear of the car under the bumper.

yes, however you can fit lectrics without a towbar.

*check manual/with trade etc (modern car electrics can be tetchy with additions- also some cars have buit in tow plug interfaces).

But on my old car I just scotchlocked (blue plastic clamps with metal insert that joins cables) the car side cable onto the rear light cluster wires and stainless steel wired the plug to the towing hitch – bit fiddly to get to but worked fine.

I refer you to my mothers advice regarding the ‘but that’s what other people do’ approach to life.

“If everybody else stuck a red hot poker up their arse would you be in the queue at the hospital ?”

    Me – well mixed really.

I got savaged as a child (blood etc etc), however a mates dad was a shepherd (did one man and his dog) – amazing to see a well trained dog doing something useful

I have now resolved that next time a dog jumps up at me to start leg humping the owner and barking, whilst my gf shouts “It’s allright, he’s only playing’ ………

Bankes Arms, Corfe (I used it as it was on ebay (Dorset, Tickets and Travel) and got 2 nights B&B&EM for 97 for 2 and at that rate it was a bargain.

*If you go direct haggle, it was fine but I felt that it (and other local hosteleries) were tourist charging ie food prices at reality + 30%.

    trying to get back to:
    – evening rides – very local (max 1/2 hour drive or from work/house/friends house)
    – Sunday rides – up to about 1hr15 drive away
    – weekends away – 3 to 4 hours.

I travel as it’s partly about scenery, seeing things for me as well as the riding.

Stoner – given the state of quite a few banks I’d suggest quite a few in banking failed to understand it as well – or do you mean that going broke is a success in todays climate ? I take your point about individual employees, especialy at lower levels but it’s not painting a pretty picture to me – bit like the CSA – a well regarded and sucessful public sector institution that also pays bonuses :+)

Would you care to bung all the Woolies staff a few quid each – most of them were ok but it’s still down the crapper (* and I bet the exec did ok out of that). And I’ve not heard the banks asking for a 10% pay cut like a lot of other people are having to put up with.

Still I think you might have lucked out – maybe the public sector owned banks will get final salary pension schemes as a reward for a job well done……

FYIish. There is now medical evidence to suggest that the ‘feminine need??’ to not fart is actually bad for you.

In terms of farting or Pro-biotic yoghurts one is clearly cheaper …..

Possibly also impacted like RNLI (parents do a lot with them) by ‘cultural’ changes – less fishermen, seamen, smaller navy etc etc means less and less skilled volunteers = more training = more cost …..

I’d maybe suggest two (or more) places in a week (mainly as places there are small, limited facilities and so variety might help).

We stayed here http://www.ruareidh.co.uk/ lighthouse (very remote – treat for gf and my dad was a lighthouse keeper) – pretty good. Poss cycle round headland …….

Garvault hotel (most remote in Scotland – probably) generator power, deer in garden, one bike route but not on beaches. (basic, but brilliant experience)

Plockton – Haven hotel I think (okish)

    KinlochBervie hotel (….. mmmm)

Coast road from Applecross to Torridon (in balzing sun to be fair) is the BEST I have ever seen (and I’ve done Britain) well worth a drive

Would suggest booking if near BH.

Just internet for accom we did.

    West coast rules for scenery.

Galloway, Glentrool – near England, scenery, biking, beaches

N Coast Tongue – Dunnet Head, remote, limited facilities, fantsstic quiet beaches (some cycling inland but limited)

    Skyeish – awesome,

Can camp at Applecross beach (or hotel + outdoor centre) – pub, beach, biking (see MBR a couple of months ago)

Note that **teenager** facilities can be very limited in Scotland, esp rural areas.

no, very, yes (reduced jobs + many more applicants = hard world),my guess is possibly – generally depends on cv match, employer defined closing date for cvs/start date for job, yes (I’m at 2004 rates),

try std sites jobserve, cwjobs, itjobboard etc etc.

I’d suggest looking abroad (*based on that in my particular specilaist field it’s a lot healthier)

exercise caution, training course or at least lots of common sense.

My mum, an ex rural nurse bought my dad the most expensive pair of trousers he ever owned – proper chainsaw stoppers, due to number of people coming in with bits missing. Local timber yard briefed to keep ice and clingfilm on tap and get the bits to hopital quick. Even then the old git took most of a finger off on a bandsaw ……

bimbler – try thinking ‘package’ and lifetime cost.

if you don’t understand how good an MPs package is, especially pension, (also consider allowances, perks etc) how much it will cost everybody (inc you) in the future (ie when they are not working) then you might want to try some research.

    Hi

as I’m trying to sort this out now – got a will pack from Law Society or something like that. I’m pretty much identifying all assets (and who gets any specific items/amounts).

I **thought** I read that the executor couldn’t be a beneficiary (as opposed to a witness) ??????????

? wasn’t this something to do with discs, qrs and torsional whatever force ?

I **seem** (so I may be balking tollocks) to remember reading something about this and the way that a bigger wheel delivers torque to the qr may be different ?? – so it may impact the ability of the qr to hold – which could be a problem.

Scientific theory clearly dictates that at high speeds centrifugal force will increase the tyre diameter, alos, higher altitudes with lower air pressure will cause the tyre to swell, however so will lots of pies.

I think you should let the air out of the tyre and turn the wheel upside down, then the flat spot will always be at the top – hence no problem.

    – most people don’t get unreceipted expenses
    – most people don’t get final salary pensions
    – most people don’t get subsidised catering facilities
    – most pople who work away from home don’t get second house allowances
    – most people don’t get as many holidays
    – most people have to ge explicit permission for second jobs and are contracted to work a minimum number of hours in their ‘main’ employment
    – …..

the public sector ‘ethic’ appears to be
    – we want the same salary
(but we also want to keep our better expenses, job security, final salary pension, sickness benefits etc etc)

Presumably as we now have lots of private sector companies doing the good old pay cut or job cuts option I will soon hear the public sector clamouring to get the same deal, as that way the whole country would save money …

I’d stick with tent – my one man isn’t that much heavier or bigger than my bivvy (well it is a bit)

I **think** that the bivvy indicated is the same as I have and wouldn’t recommend it – soley on the grounds of no side zip – getting in and out is a complete pain – so try before buy if you can – side zip suggested.

    My logic went something like
    – if wet then tent much better
    – if dry – don’t need waterproofness so can just sleep out without hassle of crawling into a tube in a muumy bag and then needing a wee…

    Put tyre on
then, with luggage strap/rope etc, put it around centre of tyre and force centre of tyre into rim well, whilst simultaneously encouraging tyre bead out to rim edges.
then try to inflate before releasing strap (ie let bead set)
    might work

Check your (and their) existing work contracts, there may be ‘existing customer’ exclusions.

It doesn’t sound good to me – as an employee I don’t see what’s in it for you (you will loose any accumulated employee benefits of current job, I don’t think there is much ‘accumulated’ below 2 year mark). You’re carrying as much risk as them but if it works out you’ll get none of the *presumed rewards they get (bonus, shares ….).

Ask them what they’re putting in and compare it with what they want from you (and what they’re giving you and expect you to put in). ie if they’ve put their houses on the line at least they’re commited, if nothing then they have no risk.

I always call before I get too close. ‘Couple of bikes behind’. Most people seem to appreciate that.

My personal experience is that if you want to meet an arrogant, self centred t-w-a-t then look halfway along a horses back. (*Sincere apologies to girl in Chargford, Devon – who had the intelligence and consideration to trot along the single track road for about 50yds to a passing place to let me past – but that is the ONLY consideration I’ve ever had from a horse rider in 35 years of road/trail etc use)

Car driver mows down cyclists. After being startled by a crisp bag blowing out of a hedge the driver reversed vigorously backwards and forwards, mowing down several cyclists. The judge dismissed the case on the grounds that the car had been there first and the driver ouldn’t possibly have expected a crisp bag to be blown by the wind.

I leave my bike in my car (pug 306 hatch with rear seats out).

I’ve got a windsurfer locking cable (3M long cable) which I thread through everything and is also locked to a seatbelt mount point.
I also cover with a sheet.

After some reaserach got gf a myka pro for 445 from Edingburgh Bicycle sale a while ago.

For her (4ft 10 – so 13" model) and other short arse beginners I’d say that the low cut top tube on 13" and 15" models was a winning feature.

Having researched (due to **** on ebay selling a 295ish custom cut post as 310) – so right on the cusp

    4" came up a lot
as did – below welds of top tube.
Thomson seem to recomend 65-75mm min depending on post layback etc

I only do light XC – but on the STW Swinley ride, (old codgers group) I hit hard enough to raise seat nose about 2"…..

I’m probably going to get another post on the grounds that I won’t get an Orange 5 frame for £35

    Cheers
