I think it’s all part of the current scheme by the public sector to break the country – both financially and in terms of getting the current system to change.

Check out the number of ‘threatening’ government ads on tv.
    – car tax (please explain how a camera will trace a car with no registered keeper)
    – tv licence

In fact the Quantocks ride showed them in action. I got a letter (and some glossy pamphlets about car crime – and how it was my fault for leaving valuables in the car. Shame that the car in question wasn’t mine ……. – nothing like efficiency then.

Top Tip chaps – why not just prosecute car owners for parking in car parks, this will be tax efficient – ie camera shot with no right of appeal and all the poor sods who tax, insure etc etc will have to pay up…..

did all my trail/enduro bikes myself, much lighter. Could use a flat top stand under engine.

I used the rafters and an adjustable tie down to align the holes at reassembly and take weight on way down (and if you hit the handlebars as you got off the floor it stopped the sodding bike falling over)

Make sure you’ve got another form of transport coz the second it’s dismantled you’ll need to drive 20 miles for a special part………

Make sure you jack it up properly, (I’d tie it to rafters as well as standing/jacking it), weight is relative to lean angle ….

Clubbing and mutillating animals is not considered a humane method of killing them.

The mutilating wasn’t clear from the Beeb. I’m against cruelty to animals but I’m not convinced a well placed head blow is cruelty.

Have you ever swatted a flay, ant, insect, rat …….

Possibly cynical but would the outcry be the same if they weren’t ‘cuddly’ animals …

talking of rats – spongebob. Known experiment
X space, not many rats – happy social rats
X space, lots and lots of rats – unhappy unsocial rats
? can you see any similarities with people

I remember him because of the green monster.

The most famous “Green Monster” was powered by an F-104 Starfighter General Electric J79 17,500 lbf static thrust jet engine with four-stage afterburner, which Arfons purchased from a scrap dealer for $600 and rebuilt himself, over the objections of General Electric and the government, and despite all manuals for the engine being classified top secret.

The engine was scrapped because of damage caused by injesting a bolt. Art removed 60 blades out of approximately 1000 in the engine, removing broken blades and ones at 180 degrees, or the pair at 120 degrees to maintain balance. He tested it by tying it to trees in his garden, a procedure which drew complaints from his neighbors.

mmmmm – also got a serviced manitou

I’ve spent ages tracing a knock – seems only to happen on very initial travel – like 1-2mm movememt. I spent ages checking every bearing but I’m now pretty sure it’s something inside the shock, I can make it knock by compressing seat, shock appears to work, doesn’t loose air – but I’ve tried fondling every other moving part and they only appear to move as expected…….

prob too far, me and gf did Applecross/Torridon – (on a blazing day), best road/scenery drive ever.
On the south – Glentrool is awesome and Kirkcudbright arty/trendy, Garlieston was run down mellow, sleepy village, nice sea front pub. That area is pretty quiet.

so you think that stuffing the majority to punish the minority is a great idea – democracy at it’s best.

It’s good to see imagination used well. I can’t remember the last time the Govmt used extra taxation as a solution.

Re the yob problem. I suggest a better solution, as the drink price increase might curb that why not back a 5pm curfew for everbdoy that would definitely solve it, and it’s easy to implement.

my gf is a coeliac and we eat much better than I did as a single (ie home cooked by her as opposed to me buying takeways and micromeals)

try the supermarket free from sections – she thinks Asda bread best, Sainsbury fruit cake (delic) and enerrgy bars ( and dried fruit)
    – rice, brown rice, spuds and couscous are bases. Check Sharwoods I think it is as she can use their various sauces.
Under my influence she now does eat in curries (ask chef) chicken kebabs(minus pitta) and chicken and chips.
We have what I consider home cooking – chilli, lamb various, chicken various pork – various, slow roaste etc etc all in sauce – bloody marvellous deal, she cooks I wash.

    Check law.

I believed (after discussion at Reading tip) that I could bag it up in special bags and they would dispose of.

However if it aint broke don’t fix it (or tamper with either)

If the public sector ordered a house they would:
    – ask for a top storey flat on a high rise with 3 beds
    – then want 2 beds
    – then want a patio
    – then commplain the garden was too small
    – then suggest a bungalow might be better
It’s important to to get lots of people involved as if somebody took responsibility it might be hard for them to shift the blame, and in order to increase your visibility/profile/cock size in the organisation you (and every other cock) needs to be seen to be involved and have their say. I’d suggest continously changing the sign off authority as that’ll make it take much longer and cost considerably more so that you really can ferk it up.

Real life example. I was so impressed with the Bournemouth ‘surf reef’ contract (verbal report on BBC by local councillor) that I will try to get some business out of them:
    – how much did it cost? – 3 million
    – how much do you get back if it doesn’t work? – 150,000
(or read into that considerably less than their profit margin – punish me big boy ….)

Cheap gents loo (I’ve seen used a lot) is a screen(scaffolding, sheeting etc) and a half pipe (well drain pipe), properly fixed, slightly slanted, with appropriate collection facility. Not sure of H&S but Reading council used it.

On loos, suggest regular cleaning, and a highly sophisticated electonic monitoring system. It will detect:
    – male
    – standing
    – seat unlifted
under which conditions a small charge under the loo should detonate.

We need zero tolerance. I propose making everything stationary then we’d all be fine.

I’d have to say given the current financial situation it looks suspiciously tax revenue motivated to me.

Hey Jackass – how you going to shop as a pensioner ?

I cringe a bit when my dad drives (80 – ruralish Scoland), he’s ok on ‘known’ roads but a less good in unknown territory(slower awareness, slower decision making, less visbility[old eyes, body moves slower and is less flexible] etc). He has diabetes and gets medically reviewed annually.

However, he does have some features going for him that I’d suggest were positive and, and I’ve generally found missing from most drivers:
    – he knows his limitations – so doesn’t drive rush hour, won’t go anywhere new unless absolutely required, nearly always takes the back road route, makes somebody else drive if possible
    – also he tends to do it slowly, thus (and I accept that this probably irritates the **ck out of MOST other drivers) but unless it’s an oncoming it s probably going to be a shunt as opposed to speed induced carnage

In a nutshell I suggest he has age related faults but I’d suggest that many other drivers have some much larger non age related faults – so I’d start with thm first.

    (more of a personal rant)
Top Tip to the VAST majority of drivers here – especially if you have large sexual appendages. He also does something that seems to be nearly unheard of nowdays, – he actually uses the rear view mirror and will slow and blip left indicator on straights to let people who are in a hurry pass.

    Could try

    – set tyre in place
    – rope/luggage strap around middle of tyre
    – as you tighten loop, encourage tyre bead towards rim (and simultaneously force tyre middle into rim well)
    – should increase fit and decrease available volume
    – so pumping might work

I use a Garmin Etrex plus Memory map.

    IMHO.

You can just follow a route BUT you NEED an OS map to give context – in case of issues (and you do get them as the ‘ground’ can differ from map plus there can be 3 lefts, closures, 10feet deep bogs, you want to shorten/extend route etc etc).

Speaking without experience I’d love a system will all UK os maps, moving OS 50000 map display (with zoom etc) (as I’m totally used to them) and then I can’t see why you’d need a map (well barring technology failure).

The ‘route only’ Etrex takes away some of map reading stops (and does recording etc)and means you don’t actually get lost (well unless under tree cover etc).

As I can read a map and use a compass I’ve found Memory Map a bigger aid – quickly trace route, see hill flow etc etc – so you can adjust start etc points plus work out real effort of ride.

Could all the christians on here please do me a favour and write to their leaders (*the real ones, here on earth, with real postal addresses please) and suggest that the minimum age of christening should be set at 18. Then the person being christened could make a much more informed choice on whether they want to or not.

Hi uplink – these are the brushes I expected (what I had in the first motor that eventually wore out)- however as I say there is some weirdness going on – I’ve never seen brushes like this before – wafer metal U holder and coiled flat metal spring.

Problem is I need to know the actual size of brush – you can’t tell from photos. I think my cunning plan is to get a brush 8×8 and introduce it to Mr File.

    Thanks to all though

Hi Bruneep – fraid not – those are main motor bruhes. I’m after smaller brushes for the smaller tumble hot air blower fan.

The metal holder U holder is a wafer thin metal strip bent into a square U.

You might want to look at offset mortgages. (savings are offset against amount owing – so you effectively get your mortgage rate as interest – tax free). Works if you want to have some cash in a current account scenario – the mortgage is paid when your savings exceed amount owed – no penalty to my knowledge.

    I’m with Intelient Finance.

    I’m torn between two answers:
    – screw the useless public sector tossers for as much as you can (and expenses – e.g. second home)
    – do it for free as it’s a club (and one of the reasons we’re in the shoite is that the public sector have very little concept of getting vfm – hopefully they don’t use the same costing approach on building projects….)

Points about insurance and CRB very valid.

A previous post on here was I believe #10 ph for cycling proficency.

Ps It’s a sarky answer as where I live I used to play to play open to all hockey (and as lots of nippers turned up some of us started coaching for 15 mins of the hour). We had constantly had money probs (as we had to cover hire of an astro pitch – at commercial rates plus floodlights in winter) so even the nippers had to pay #2 (which is a lot to some kids).

If you know lots about the internet (and I’m assuming you know more than me) can you do anything to get some pages at the top of the common searches that will bring back his company details, name etc.

With factually accurate information obviously. And I’d check the law first but IMHO I believe that you can’t be done for displaying factually accurate information.

Here – http://www.bedandbreakfast-directory.co.uk/uploads/estate/hotels/hotels43239.htm ** If you like dogs – it’s VERY small B&B, lovely people but they did let dogs around at brekkie etc etc

Also suggest Plockton – cracking scenery etc. The Manse – http://www.tripadvisor.in/ShowUserReviews-g319815-d629131-r7960191-The_Manse-Plockton_Ross_and_Cromarty_Scottish_Highlands_Scotland.html

On balance I’d do manse – better scenery, some nice local pubs, can go otter spotting etc at Kyle of Lochalsh – drive to Skye – Quirang etc etc awesome scenery.
