    * I don’t know M4s, but consider the following idea

Firstly check that the piston is square to the caliper – this may be the issue

Could you push it further in – in an attempt to break whatever the ‘seal’ is that is holding it in place – like a gclamp applying gradual pressure, once it moves in (and you could apply lubricant to seals whilst moving them) – it should hopefully move out.

Another idea – as water doesn’t compress as much as air could you try pumping in water ?????

An old motorbike trick is to put things in a freezer they shrink – so theoretically this should loose the piston

take account of lease/freehold terms in what you do – as it may have selling etc implications. ie I suspect if it’s ‘their’ fence and you rebuild it you might become liable, if you build on your land then you may be liable for both fences.

I did two fences,(both are shared) built them with help of neighbours, I did most labour but they paid for 1/2 the materials – it’s a much cheaper option than getting someone to do it. The only arse bit is getting the old posts out after that it’s just about enjoyable (ps arris/plank is easier than panels – as you can be flexible about post gaps)

    Thanks Guys

(have done Maidenhead – Windsor along Thames path, back via flood relief (that bit not recommended) but coming out onto meadow in early morning sun was awesome. The brekkie at hotel in Eaton – which was good.

You can use a bulb or the horn as a tester.

Try simple proof of concept – but you’ll need two bits of wire – say 5ft long.

Try going straight from battery to horn (if it’s about) or to one of the bulbs (from battery terminals and touch either bumps on bottom of bulb or bottom and side of bulb. (*you can VERY VERY briefly click wire together when connected to battery thwy will spark)

once you get the bulb/horn working you’ve proved the battery and wires
then try and test each bit of the actual light wiring seperately.
1 – follow wires from battery and write down connections. (Digi cameras are great to record what is connected where – and just split ONE connection at a time – coz if you split lots you may forget what went were)
2 try to test each part seperately and find part that fails and try to establish why (broken wire, loose connector, broken connector etc)

use a circuit tester or bulb and follow wiring. on switch, main dip, battery etc.

Before doing that though, not taking the piss but have you checked switches, maybe tried rocking on and off and are there any weird settings on modern bikes, ie some starters are wired to propstand etc so is there any arse light setting you’ve not thought of

I’ve been pissed off/in shit city and I’ve been pissed off/in shit city and not earning. I know which one I preffered – and by a fair margin.

Can you do something in evening/weekends – build up skills/qualifications/meet people and see if it’s financially viable..

Compare your house to a government managed IT project. If you want it to be crap and overbudget repeatedly change the spec and take large amounts of time to make any decision. (although once decisions are made you can change them quickly and often)

Have an agreed set of stage payments with simple, agreed and easily mesurable criteria – at least 25% to be held till completion/sign off

    Hve a regular team meeting
    – what did you do last week
    – what are you going to do next week
measure real progress against planned (I assume you have one) …

I guess it depends what you want..

Strangely enough North Devon is my current dream.

The grass is alway looks greener, but sometimes when you get closer it’s not. However I regret not doing some stuff when I was younger – go for it, in a planned and calculated way.

As a minor part of an overall plan yes.

Currently I prefer tidal (more reliable – possibly), however have seen so many (contradictory) statistics that I now no longer believe anything.

Keep Nuclear as it actually works.

Also interested in building regs type aproach – ie better insusualtion, compulsary solar roofs etc etc

Do it so you can undo it.
Then when young have left (about 40 years under labour) then you can undo it, sell it and use it to pay for public sector pensions, sorry your pension.

I pushed my hope mono mini pads back with the round end of a flat ring spanner (as it fitted ‘onto’ the piston face – without touching anything else) – using the caliper itself as a lever point – force wasn’t that much.

Have heard the copaslip tip – ffs don’t get it on pads.

My hopes have a spring – a sort of upside down V that holds the pads out (on the pistons).

I’d probably exercise the pistons – use lever A to fix in piston A fully in, then apply brake, let piston B come out a bit (< thickness of pads) – push B back in – repeat a few times, repeat other side

    Hi

‘Hide’, it was on film 4 a while ago.
2 blokes, a twitchers hut and an estuary – doesn’t sound good does it.
    Recommended.

Special mention for Jason and the argonauts – the skeleton fight scene (for time of film production) was IMHO a true leap forward.

    sounds good to me

Given that smokers got a kicking for their habit (which impacted me) I’m hoping the same attitude to ‘self inflicted’ bloaters gets up to speed.

I’d love to see something on buses etc, as nothing else seems to make
    them loose weight.

(if you think they aren’t affecting you try speaking to someone in NHS etc etc)

If you’re really, really going to buy run a check on it, let the seller know the sale depends on the check (accident, hp etc). If you haven’t got a mate who knows cars you’re at a disdvantage (quite a big one I’d say and to be honest I’d say CAUTION, get a mate…..)
make sure you compare his price to a similar example from a dealer (and you can haggle a lot at dealers)

Check items like tax, mot, tyres, note them etc (ie I’ve seen these removed/changed at point of pickup).

Check previous MOTs (and their mileages), service history – ditto mileage stamps. Compare engine no, chassis no match with V5, window etchings if any. If the address/person on V5 aren’t where you are then why ???
Take some clear and good photos of the seller (yes I do mean it)

Lift the carpets and check floor rubber – ie on a 20,000 mile car should be very little wear, ditto drivers seat, steering wheel edges, pedal rubbers etc etc.

Test Drive – once warm, use hard in all gears, braking test(mirror please) – hands off – *road camber can affect but should brake and drive in a straight line.

Google on the reg, person etc etc

Given your inexperience I’d suggest caution. This list could go on a lot longer,

look at the rent a room in your house option.
I **think** about 350pcm is tax free (which is a win at your top rate).

You could pad that with council tax % and gas/leccy% if that sounds low.
    e.g 400pcm = £350 rent, 25 council tax, 25 bills
*House Insurance policy will need update,

When advertising suss out on phone first
    – always get them to visit/look, and say somebody has already looked so you can say sorry mate Fred took it, instead of I don’t want a loony soap dodger in my house
    – deposit (1 month min)
    – references, proof of id etc and follow it up, BEFORE, REPEAT BEFORE move in
I’ve never done contracts, which I accept has risks, but sharing your house with someone you don’t trust seems pretty pointless to me.

with druid, camping at Applecross beach – Applecross/Torridon road

Sandwood Bay is pretty impressive (very top L), it’s a walk so picnic on rocks step into sea – can camp there also – no facilities

We drove most of the West Coast last year – truly breathtaking

Get the OS maps and loop round the old coast roads – we did, also along top (of Scotland)road – Tongue, etc awesome beaches. On other side Stacks of Duncansbay are worth a wander.

If you want white sand do the Western Isles – Harris&Lewis.

Accom – Garvault Inn (probably most remote in Scotland) plus there is a bike trail I want to do that ends near it. It’s a fishing inn – but deer in garden etc, it’s basic but they did good/plenty nosh and as gf is gluten free I was impressed with gluten free muesili at brekkie – nearest shop is about 40 miles and no other bugger was going to eat it ….

Don’t like it (left on red)

    – you’re adding an extra choice, that will always slow reactions – try standing in a Kentucky Fried – small menu – can the rswipes make a decision, current system is simple green go – red stop, alrady evidence to show that beyond a certain level that the complexity of signage causes accidents
    – if (as a car)you’re on green you’ll get past a car turning right by swerving to the lhs – or the side that the cyclist is swooping into after seeing a stationery car
    – I think in quiet rural environment it would be ok, but a congested city with angry, impatient, children/gps/cd,coffee/drugs impaired driving — mmmm

    – go along seafront prom, Poole – Bmouth (and round Hengistbury – slightly naughty), cafes on prom, go early or too many walkers etc, 7am sun and brekkie, I did it with gf and enjoyed it

over Ferry and on tracks N of coast road in forest, see wareham cycleway etc

Go to Brockenhurst and do railway line etc (yes it’s not poole) but is gentle mtbing.

Routes that centre round Corfe (are hilly but not that technical).

    Thanks for help

    – any feedback on current plan

1 – dig trench round graden – insert ‘sidings’ of 30cm deep – to stop it coming in from next door.
2 – regular dosing with glyphosate for a couple of months to weaken/get chemical into root system
3 – after a couple of months cover entire area in the thicker weed suppressant membrane – right up to sidings – this will then be covered in garavel (so if ground elder comes back – complete erse)
4 – membrane will also be under raised beds to be used for veggies – to stop it coming up through and I think this will be ok for drainage etc

For a possibly too soft option – check out Sunsail and Neilson – they are saling, dinghy, windsurfer, biking and pool.

I’d suspect the biking may not be tough enough – but the local guys may know wsome god bits. (Greece was mainly firetrails, odd singlerack)

    Establish purpose/use first.

Car camping = weight not an issue.
Do you want to cook in all weathers = porch area big enough for safe cooking
Do you want to be asble to situp/drink etc in rain – maybe bigger than 2 man/porch/awning

I got a 25 inc postage popup double skinned cheapie for car camping off ebay – no porch – ie if good can cook/etc outside else quick pack/car/cafe

I’ve got an ultra light Northface 1.5 man for hiking and a 3 man Vango with huge porch for biking/surfing weeknds
