  • How Long To Rebuild A Bike? – Back From The Dead

I did a taster weekend and loved it.

However I have a mate who did it properly, if he got 3 good flying days a year he was happy (restricted flying sites, wind speed and direction required to be correct for site), kit expensive, need a PPL D I think. So I suggest doing a full cost benefit analysis – It didn't seem anywhere near worth it to me – but you can buy a large powerkite without lessons and hurt yourself on a much more regular and cheaper basis …. ;+)

Can you improve ventilation – that could help. (ie leaving window part open etc), checking any air bricks …..

Can you see the source of the damp ?

ie are you top/middle/bottom of the block, is it more on exterior walls or all walls etc , does it appear to have a source/root ?

In computing you sometime get 'consultancy by interview'.

ie you get an interview and they ask some specific – how would you solve this problem questions.

To be honest you're in a no win situation, there MIGHT be a job so go and do your best……….

    best of luck.

I'd understand financial positions before diving in. (I'd also read the previous sentence quite a few times)

In this case I'd stronly suggest that you should try to do it part time whilst maintaining existing cirumstances.

If you're in a 'thriving student' population bear in mind the lack of money they have and also bear in mind that like Reading Uni their students may offer 'cheap treatment' as part of their training course (*full physio hour £7 last year – you can't compete with that). I've never had children but my friends experiences lead me to believe that lying down for a 30 min massage with a toddler in tow would not be possible.

Re the 'rent premises and go mobile' – stop and have a think, that's 2 up front costs costs straight away – premises and travel kit , every massage I've been for has been in a private home (it's a lot cheaper).
    – 1 was a chill out place, massage and sensory tanks or whatever they're called installed.
    – 1 was spare bedroom, she always met client with her hubby for the first few visits
    – physio – in a converted bedroom

I paid for the massages and tank as it was a 'new experience' type thing, I wouldn't do it again. I pay for phsio as little as possible however will if if I think it'll help me recover.

If you were a physio on the NHS list and doing work for them (11-4 say – as people who work don't get ill obviously) and pjs the rest of the time that seems to work.

I use one, ok, but the closeness of the tools can be a pain, but to be fair I've always got the job done

(I carry alien3, leatherman copy with pliers, screw drivers etc, park chain tool – as my experience is that on cheaper chain tools the pin bends etc and park do replacements)

    MR Agreeable ??

It's legal to ride a road legal motorbike on a BOAT or RUPP (*or whatever they've been renamed).

I didn't think it was a criminal offence to ride on public land (unless it is a publc ROW subject to a TRO)

Did one from Bath, took off from Great Crescent or something like that, really enjoyed it, view very weird and the archaelogy type features that you can see from ground markings was impressive.

If you can't be VERY flexible on dates/times its not for you.

Binoculars seconded, also warm clothing/gloves/hat in winter and poss clothing with a thick and thin side as the burner doesn't half make a difference …..

It **may have been this lot but it was a LONG time ago.

I'd be wary of transferring from a final salary scheme and I'd make sure I got a least 3 sets of advice (including figures and maths that I really did understand) from IFAs (Independent Finacial Advisers).

Ask whoever is doing it to show you how much commision they are making on the deal (as I understand it they must tell you)

Do some basic maths – £100,000 in a money pot pension (ie not final salary) = about £4300 a year increasing with RPI final salary pension (male taking pension at age 65, no tax free cash).

Re one scheme – simplicty, ease of mangement – look up Equitable life pension victim on google.

Can second H&L – however if you put your bike into a shed and came back 20 years later would you expect it to be in perfect working order etc etc – well pension funds are similar – ie it's your money and you need to manage it. see trustnet.com – but in a nutshell if you're in a fund that charges 2% management fee a year and makes 3% on the fund you may not have the pension that you expect.

    "Mental health problems
There is growing evidence that people with serious mental illness, including depression and psychosis, are more likely to use cannabis or have used it for long periods of time in the past. Regular use of the drug has appeared to double the risk of developing a psychotic episode or long-term schizophrenia. However, does cannabis cause depression and schizophrenia or do people with these disorders use it as a medication?

Over the past few years, research has strongly suggested that there is a clear link between early cannabis use and later mental health problems in those with a genetic vulnerability – and that there is a particular issue with the use of cannabis by adolescents."

The trouble with facts is that there are so many of them.

"The link between cannabis and psychosis is well established, and recent studies have found a link between use of marijuana and depression.4-7 Does cannabis cause these conditions, or do patients use cannabis to relieve their distress?

The explanation most accepted is that cannabis triggers the onset or relapse of schizophrenia in predisposed people and also exacerbates the symptoms generally. 4 5 Establishing direction of causality is difficult and is most . . . [Full text of this article]"

    Hi

try before you buy is essential.
I think for your weight the boards are maybe a bit small (I'm 13st and on a 8ft 6, 22 x 3 -ie width and thickness help as they alter total board volume) but might be ok if you're pretty fit, strong arm swimmer etc. My mates (ligher than you love Southpoint 8ft 4s and couldn't really get the nsp 7ft 6s going) but to be fair I get to surf so few times I'll go out in 2ft mush. (NSP, BIC Southpoint all seem fine to me).

Wetsuits – an ok wetsuit + rash vest is maybe more flexible than a really good wetsuit. Try on different fitting (zip, velcro, stretch) – personally I HATE velcro and stretch. My fav is zip and batwing (a very thin flap that goes behind zip inside suit and makes zip waterproof(well seals it). Fit is mainly what makes a wetsuit warm then contruction (you want blind stitched and sealed seams – ie the stiching DOES not go through completely – so no holes and is taped over – ie is truly waterproof). fit – tight everywhere, good fit ankles, wrists and neck, make sure you can do butterfly or front crawl arm stroke comfortably whilst trying on and that zip etc dont rub/stop movement.

My winter suit is titanium fleck batwing zip 4/3. Can do 2 hours easy. Hats are handy in winter.

Read the small print and exclusions very, very, very carefully, also establish CLEARLY how much will be paid out for how long. Then do some maths then just go out and ride in a sensible manner.

I ride in self employed over 50 mode, both factors influencing my chosen line and speed.

I guess it's personal choice, however instilling a clear understanding of money common sense appears to be a great idea, esp given the shit that lots of people seem to get themselves into.

You could go with the m-c suggestion and 'save' the extra 20 on her behalf.

Can also cycle along Thames from MH bridge to Eton/Winsor (very nice and mellow0 then back along flood relief (nosiy and hideous but traffic free)

    depends on the door

with up and overs a sideways bolt/hasp padlock at each side (wall or floor), on bottom corners. (Some people add an internal bar to strengthen the door/bolt fittings)

also seen up an overs with bolts straight down vertically into floor through the 'bottom' of the door on each corner

Also seen two loops added to the doorposts with a chain stretched tightly across the door.

My dad, who does things properly, had two of those drop down posts fitted just in front of the door at the right height point…

I use MM (mainly as a friend had it and it appeared easy to use and do what I required)

Use OS50 maps, sometimes more dets would help but I started as a motorbike trail rider so needed size, with a grid ref, N marker and map you're sorted.

I worked for an entire company that was outsourced ….

Understand your position, fully and clearly, with their side IN WRITING, before making any decision. I don't know your personal circumstances but there are legal reqts to be followed( post again with a good headline – quite a few people on here seem to know the rules, CItizens Advice etc etc). In my case it was a godsend, as the entire company was outsourced they put us on a handover bonus to make sure that we didn't all shove off.

On a personal front it forced me into contracting and I've never looked back.

    Good luck.

    Hi

Need to put location (town) on About Us etc, as location would be a major driver in choosing a course for me – ie its a waste of time if you're 1000 miles away…. – retraction just read 'held at any location that is convenient for you' – however I only kept going as I was reviewing site, ie there are so many sites on the internet I (personally) will always skip one if it doesn't give me 'critical' info quickly.

    Mail/book a course – assumes mail is something I don't have installed – so don't work ….

It doesn't (well maybe I didn't find it) list your qualifications – SMBLA etc etc etc. (ok Mark Atkins sounds like he has experience)

    Back button seconded

    Site Maps/layouts are often offered

Home Page – I'd have put the text at the top. The two bits on left 'Making Farh faster' didn't drill – I expected them to. I didn't entirely get the front page – ie it said freeride to me but this was 'contradicted' by the top memu MTB/Road/BMX – just noticed the Freeride/Ns – which is not on home page or menu but appears on MTB and road skills etc pages.

    Cheers and good luck

    ditto to above.
I've seen my dad and mates moving large stuff using block and tackle and greasy sleepers.

    Dig new hole.
Dig a slope between botton of stone and top of new hole, loosen stone, drag up slope, into new hole. (can used wood on stone and slop – greased)

Can use block and tackle, can use car and winch to tow (of if old car can use to push etc), can use trolley jack for eleverage.

Use various ropes and straps to keep stone orientated (* most important bit)

    Deffo keep log.
If possible get independent, corroborating evidence.

I'm not sure this is a good idea (probably depends on your personality) but when they find fault you could ask them to 'clarify and expand it, as I really want to improve and how I should have done it' sort of approach. (Keep a diary). My experience is when asked to clarify non existent problems that a silence often results. You might also want to consider this when there are others within earshot but informally – coffee machine tec. Again I stress considering this as it can go bang and may not suit everybody.

    Best of luck

Under the current terms of the scheme Lloyds would be required to issue "B shares" to the government which do not carry voting rights but would force the taxpayer's economic stake beyond 60%.

I'd suggest it perfectly highlights the private sector/public sector interface.

ie a shower of arrogant, unnaccoutable, expense swindling, overpaid, overpensioned, overstaffed and useless cvnts get taken for a ride by a few overpaid, greedy, self interested unregulated cvnts.

    me, computing.
Luckily I started in 1977, Computer Science (Uni open day: Physics – boring, Accountancy – considerable more boring, Computing (of which I knew nothing) – blokes in jeans and t shirts running about enthusiastically.

Anyway, still here after 3 redundancies and several skillset evolutions. I enjoy using my brain, you do get people interaction (*tip – don't do backroom/techie head down computing unless you're truly brilliant at it – get a job that involves being there/considerable user/budget holder inmteraction, it will help come the outsourcing phase).

Had to relearn my skillset several times over, so fresh challenges.

Pros – can get good money, easy on body (*makes a difference as you get older), keeps the mind active, travel etc opportunities if you want/pick the right field.
Cons – geek reputation, can be boring, serious potential for shipping to a cheaper location.
