Will be fine! In the old days we were running 2.1s on 17mm and less rims and nobody died

Cheers guys. All very helpful. Some sort of lock-down is deffo the way to go, I’ve had ECC before but would prefer some travel still, rather than fully locked, as a bit of travel still helps on the steep climbs!

I have an Erbauer drill. It's good. Really good actually, seems about as good as De Walt which costs millions of pounds more.

I got some FS260 shorts in XL, found them quite big but OK.

Got an Altura base layer in XL and that fits like a chicks bra top.

Got a Gore jacket in XL and it feels like a medium!

Take a puncture kit on the trails, not a spare tube. Repair, re-fit and ride. Multiple punctures no problem. If you repair it properly it is as good as new always, provided you use fresh-ish vulcanising fluid and patches that stick!

Chris King, install it once (better for your frame than swapping headsets in and out!), clean/regrease it occasionally (all user serviceable), it will last forever, just add a little preload if it wears, and ALL spares are available if you ever need them (highly unlikely).

Brake cleaner. Best degreaser ever and smells lovely (but don’t smell it…). Deb/Swarfega “Stop Quick” smells best. But don’t smell it…

It will be fine, just use the little round knurled nut that threads onto the valve stem to keep it in place.
