Go steel if you can afford it – big difference in ride quality. I wouldn’t worry about the weight – you won’t notice it unless it’s a tank.

No idea, but defo lasting longer – used to eat X11-93’s at an alarming rate.

Tempting. Half the price of the Bird Aeris I’ve been looking at.

    Half the bike?

Have a Spectral. Never ride it. Had a aluminium HT, was harsh. Now have steel HT, perfect ride. Not harsh, but still direct and fun. Great for skills too. Love it.

Mine’s on the right as I dress to the left. Better balance.

Updated my A1 forks – huge improvement. Small lumps and roots disappear.

As greybeard has spotted, batteries are obviously fakes.  Are you certain you got the polarity right in the box? Although the box should have dealt with that issue.

Tried recently on son’s very old Specializes wheel. Went up ok. At 40 psi the tyre left the rim with a bang and fired Stan’s everywhere. Dripping from me, the walls and the ceiling. Total jeffing mess!

Ride a pair of 26″ non tubeless ready Giant wheels tubeless for years without issue previously.

I think the brand-x remote will work, is decent enough and is cheaper.

@raybanwomble – looks like my forks will adjust to down to 130 or up to 180 – so quite a lot of freedom there.  I’m thinking bigger as I don’t really need a bike for the easier stuff.

Thanks Joe.  I ride with two chaps who own Birds who seem to rate them.  I like the look of the Cotic – steel frames look better I think.  The Bird appears to be a more refined design (rear triangle for example).

Both Bird and Cotic have really long frames – do people ride them long, or are they just buying a smaller size than normal? At 6’ 2” I’m usually an XL, but it looks like I’ll be a L for both.

My forks and wheels are 27.5″, so 29er isn’t really an option I’m afraid.

    What you got?

Great. Thank you. I put a debonair in my Pikes recently and they made a big difference, so tempted to upgrade airshaft in Yaris too. Planning a frame upgrade next year to maybe a Cotic Flare or Rocket. For the former I’ll need a shorter air shaft, and the latter could go longer. Decisions decisions!

biggest problem with the ‘leave them on a rad’ approach is warm, wet weeks where the radiators never go on and the shoes sit and go mouldy.

For me it’s complaints about the smell!

Wouldn’t you be better off with a Rocket if that’s a requirement?

My idea is to use the kit off a Spectral which has 150 Yaris.  Not convinced I need the travel of the Rocket as per amedias’ thoughts and less weight would be good too.  I can just get a shorter air shaft – which would give me the option to go Debonair, which has been great on my other bike’s Pikes.

Is the new Flare likely to be capable of handling 150mm forks?

Would I be able to use the cells from my existing Chinese packs in an enclosure? How can you tell if a cell is weak?

Those on-one merino cardi’s were renowned for not shrinking in the wash.

Mine died recently. Haven’t managed to find a good replacement yet. Still in mourning.

Servicing and Ascend is a doddle, and no need to release air first. Took me 10 mind start to finish.
