Running a 170mm brand-x on my 18″ and it’ll go right down to the collar.

Bigger rotor = more likely to take a hit and need straightening = pain in the…

180 seems to be the sweet spot for me. Had 200s that have been nothing but a nuisance.

I’m averaging three 11t and 13t sprockets per cassette. Must be steep where you are to wear out the other end!

No direct experience of p7/Crush, but owned a few aluminium hardtails and steel bikes. The latter definitely ride better.

You should definitely ride Penmachno. A bit further away, but a great ride on a hardtail.

You also can’t ride the Nant Gwrtheyrn downhill track https://www.trailforks.com/trails/nant-gwrtheyrn-dh/

When you’ve finished not riding it, the café at the bottom is excellent.

I wouldn’t ride up the back of Trefor quarry from the Nefyn side and down through to Trefor as you’re not allowed.

I’ve generally found that a leak round the valve is caused by the tape leaking somewhere round the rim, and the air has traveled around the inside of the rim and escapes around the valve. I have a pair of asymmetric rimmed wheels that are a nightmare to tape as the spoke holes aren’t central and there’s little for the tape to stick to on one side. Once very carefully taped they will finally seal.

Take a look at the TongSheng TSDZ2. Comes in various wattages from 250 to 750.

Cheers. Have recently found that, although more expensive, the X11-EL works out cheaper in the long run as they last way longer, and wear that cassette and chain ring less too.

In fact it may become a source of parts for the other bikes!

Very true. My full suss is dead useful for storing all my spare parts in an orderly and hard to lose fashion 😀

    You need a Stanton Switchback.

Steel hard tail, and probably rarely ride the full suss.

Baggy tyres are a monster. Asymmetric rims where the spoke holes are closer to one side are also a nightmare. I have wheels and tyres that area a doddle and others where you’ll lose a couple of hours getting them inflated.

My biggest fail was old rims that didn’t grip the tyre well. At 50 psi the tyre jumped the rim and fired Stan’s to the four corners of the room. Took hours to clean up.

Minion SS is the rear tyre of choice in my book. Front is always MM.

    Looks lovely. What size?

They lost the lovely lines on the old XL version

Had an Mmmbop, lovely frame, but aluminium is just too rigid. Get a steel frame.

Oh, and you won’t notice the extra weight

Does the brake sensor work with a Shimano Hydraulic brake lever?

Are there instructions on setting one up without a throttle and brake sensor anywhere? Pedal assist would be ideal

    Thanks

Just bought one myself. Shop around and you can pick one up for £130.

It’s not as warm as other jackets I’ve owned, but it breaths so well – russl nailed it with “first coat I’ve ever had that’s not drenched inside when I take it off”.

Vents are great, and are cleverly place not to interfere with camelbak straps.

I’m usually on the medium/large cusp, and medium is good for me.

    Love mine. Thoroughly recommended.

Loved my Mmmbop, but was a bit of a handful on the more technical rock gardens. Moved to steel frame and it’s much calmer.

I second the Lezyne Micro Floor. Have had one for a couple years and works well. Whenever anyone has a flat they always turn to me to use my pump. It’s robust and isn’t a total ball-ache to get a flat tyre back to 25 psi without the help of Geoff Capes.
