I replaced the friction hinges on 6 windows this summer, it’s pretty easy.
Make sure they are the same length bit longer or shorter is fine), and the stack height (depth) is the same.

You can totally replace them from indoors. Take out the screws on the frame side (it won’t fall) then you can rotate the window and bring it in through the opening.

Remove old hinges, fit new (you may need to drill new holes), then with hinges partially open, pop back through the opening and pop the frame side arms back in place. Screw back in, check alignment, job done. Easy.

YouTube it, plenty of example vids.

Similar to Mert, we have a sizeable deck that I built 10 years ago, and maintain it well. Absolutely no issues with it, so do it properly and it’s fine.
My brother put one in 8 years ago, and only occasionally cuprinols it, it’s pretty rotten in places.

Use decent wood, build it properly and looking after it is the key.

I have a Kia eNiro. Cracking car. Currently returning a genuine range of approx. 340 miles to a full charge, reduced to about 280 in the depths of winter.

On the Octopus GoFurther tariff, so charging is done in a 5 hour window at 8.5p kw/h.

    I must stop buying watches!
Current daily beater is a nice Citizen Promaster dive, with full lume dial:

@doris5000 Nope, as my desk goes low enough to not warrant one. Never been a fan of keyboard trays tbh.

@ElShalimo – Unsure to be honest, but the desk has been used regularly without fault since day one. I would happily recommend it.

Our 12 year old lab has been on Yumove & Green lipped mussel supplements since being a bit gimpy with arthritis aged 9.

Effect was like night and day. He’s still an absolute loon now with no signs of the bother he previously had.

It will also eat tyres. I never got more than 10k from a set of the standard Pirelli Cinturato P7’s, which is fun when they are about £240 a pop.

Oh and watch out for the alloys. They are so soft that simply showing them a picture of a kerb will incur damage!

I had a 68 plate S213 e200 AMG line for 3 years and agree with your experiences.

The doors were a pain, and would often close on you when exiting. Even our little Fiesta doesn’t do that, it positively “latches” in certain positions so you don’t get that!

Again, I often had the battery “Critical Charge” message, especially this time of year, and would have to trickle charge it or drive for 30 mins.

This model definitely suffers from parasitic drain by being constantly “connected”, plus the combination of frequent short journeys and using stop-start doesn’t help. I would often have it parked up for several days at a time, unused, then after about day 3 the message would come though.
Never happened to me in the summer months though, odd.

Also agree about the suspension. 99% of the time it was great, considering the weight of the car and size of the wheels.
But once in a while, you’d hit a mild pothole and it would be jarring, or an odd bump in the road and it felt like the whole back end would twitch sideways.
It was reported on some of the Merc forums and the consensus was that it was down to the rubber band like run-flats on 19” rims.

Other than that, it was a lovely car to own over 3 years, but has now been replaced with a Kia e-Niro. Also lovely but does come with a few of its own quirks!

Leadtimes are shocking. We were initially looking at a hybrid Tiguan or Skoda Enyaq, but zero availability until Summer!

We settled on a Kia e-Niro 4+ and are really enjoying it. Having downsized from a Merc S213 estate, there’s little I’m missing, apart from badge snobbery! 😂

Well I’m currently down near Exeter and at the two deliveries I’ve had to make, the petrol station and the shop I got my lunch from have all had near-100% mask wearing. A complete change from when I was down here last week where it was down to roughly 40%. Everyone giving each other plenty of space too so it seems that the message gas got through to most people at the moment.

A message that has not yet got through back here in the City of London.
Commute in this morning from the darklands of Essex, and I’d estimate the mask wearers accounting for about 1 in 5. Lunchtime stroll, passing through a few shops and it seems similar, if not worse.

In the bank today, someone was offered a mask by a member of staff, to which the response was “no thanks, I don’t do masks”.

Yup, dual motor one from here:
    https://www.forest-av.com/uk/1-touch-height-adjustable-desk-dual-motor/

With £15 IKEA Linnmon worktop on top.

Really good, and goes lower than most sit stand desks. Some are quite high even at their lowest, so look out for that.

Do people actually use their cars Sat nav?

Yup. The one in my S213 Merc is genuinely good. Responsive, live traffic info powered by TomTom, displayed on a 12” screen and HUD. Option to use Apple CarPlay for Waze or Other alternatives.
Far better than a mobile in a cradle.

Does anyone have any experience of ICE watches?

Yes, I have a couple of ICE watches for beach / DIY / knock about use. They are absolutely fine and also cheap to pick up on eBay should I need to replace!

I bought a dual motor frame from Forest AV. Chose it because it goes lower than most sit-stand desks. The base height of some, when seated, are too high.

Love it. Really stable and smooth to operate. Used an Ikea desk top.

This prompted me to splash an almighty £11 for this Merkur Futur clone on Amazon:

    Incredible value, frankly I’m amazed!
Decent leather case, fully adjustable blade, good weight, solid build. Shaved as good as my 34c.
Maybe not ideal as an intro to DE due to its heft, but jeez, £11 !!

the L’s are really smooth aren’t they. I find you can chuck them around your face like a mach3 type razor with no danger of cuts. which model is it out of interest?

It’s an L-1. Good enough for James bond, good enough for me! 🙂

Merkur 34c and a selection of DE blades to see what you get on with best.

Or find an old injector on eBay, get some blades, and dont look back!

Have been through a raft of DE razors, though out of preference I use a 1973 Type-L Schick injector pretty much exclusively now. It just shaves so nicely, without faff.

Nicely done. Quite satisfying in the end, isn’t it!

With regards to the interior, don’t underestimate the number of sockets you think you’ll need! We have 6 x doubles in ours, and now only have one double spare! Use the bike equation of X=N+1 🙂

I built a Dunster Lantera over the summer, which is now my “work from home” space.
Base is concrete slab, and I used additional 75×75 pressure treated joists on that, with the cabin bearers on top.
This creates great airflow under the cabin, reducing the chances of rot.
Galvanised scrim mesh around the perimeter to keep the mice out.

Joists, bearers, and the first course of cabin timber painted in the superb Bedec Barn Paint, rest of cabin in stain blocking preservative primer, then Protek Premium Plus.

We had the insulated roof & floor, though the extra height gained using additional joists allowed me to use an extra 25mm of floor insulation.
Roof came with membrane as we have shingles.

Wiring done prior to floor insulation and boards, allows for hidden cable runs, popping up to double sockets where needed, through 22mm round conduit secured with saddle clamps. This allows for movement due to expansion etc.

It’s double glazed, but most heat loss is through the 45mm walls. I may insulate those at some point, but right now, a little Delonghi oil filled rad keeps it cosy.

Love it, one of our best purchases. Took a weekend to do the walls, doors, and windows. A day each for flooring, roofing, and painting. Another day for guttering and snagging.

Top tip, pay attention to the wall timbers. Some will curve more than others, so put those in first as the weight of the others on top will reduce the bowing.

Top tools, Quick-Grip clamps to tweak timbers that twist on the vertical across their length, and ratchet straps to pull down any awkward buggers towards the top.
There’s some good advice on the “Tuin” cabin website.

Don’t rush it, and you’ll enjoy the build!

My son works there, as usual the traffic will be absolute carnage. Last week it took me 45 minutes to drive out of the car park due to backed up traffic.
Sadly, this is the norm for Lakeside.

A reasonable percentage of customers there still do not bother with masks, or just wear them on their chin as they are too busy gassing on their mobiles.

Having not played in 25 years, I’ve just bought a short-scale Ibanez to get back into it.

As for an amp, I managed to try a few before lockdown. The Orange Crush 25 was nice, but settled on an Ampeg BA108.
It has a lovely sound (plus headphone jack) and a separate aux volume level, which is dead handy for playing along to stuff from another source.

Additionally, I have a Blackstar AmPlug for quiet headphone practice:

    Good luck with playing!

Always had an itch for an Omega, should be taking care of that soon.

In the mean time, I’ve been very satisfied with my ternion of Christopher Ward homages, and Seiko’s.
Once I work out how to post a pic from the iPad, I’ll do so.

Recently lost an old customised SKX007 daily beater, but have just sprung for one of the new range of successors, the SRPD63K1, muted Hulk style. Quite nice.

any stwers actually pullled the trigger on a roccbox pizza oven ? Are they any good ?

Our Rocccbox is used quite heavily at home, cooking all sorts from Pizza’s / Calzone to spatchcock chicken, kebabs, steak, lamb, burgers etc.

I find it really good, and very low-maintenance when cooking.  Less stressful cooking experience compared to the Uuni 2S we had before.
