Late to the party here, but I had a great time, loved the course. All the marshalls were amazing, really supportive and encouraging. I was also paying too much attention to the tricky corner to really see mtnboarder, but tried to commentate my various failed lines ?

I managed 10 laps which was more than I expected and probably the hardest ride I’ve ever done. More importantly I finished the race without an ambulance, an improvement over 2022!

Other highlights were the line choices on the matrix for some nice passing, the walkers path bit which was interestingly rooty and the guilty pleasure of the super groomed blue flow to the finish line. Glad my tyres stayed on round some of those berms!

Huge thanks to everyone involved, gutted that it’s all coming to an end.

@pjacks I remember! Thank you for being there. I was pretty out of it but you really helped. And don’t worry about the glove, of course!!

Next year I think I might go around (or go very slowly)…

I’d love to see what actually happened but unfortunately that’s a different bombhole victim!!

Thanks again for the positive messages. I’m glad it’s not just me that had trouble! Is it a deceptive feature or something? Any insight from someone with memory of a crash? It seems innocuous enough in isolation…

Hey guys, that was me in the bombhole… Thanks for the thoughts and sorry for the disruption! I have a spiral fracture in my left humerus (upper arm bone), waiting on a slot for surgery in the next week or two. My face is a bit messed up too, but nothing major. There was concern about my neck and spine (including a neck brace) but that’s all fine, fortunately. Could have been a lot worse.

I don’t really know what happened, I’d ridden it a couple of times without incident and didn’t think it was a big deal at all. All I can say is that I was pushing the descents very hard, partly through adrenaline and enjoyment, so must have just gone in too hot and been complacent. Feel pretty embarrassed to have cocked it up so badly, I know what I’m doing, I promise!

Huge thanks to the first aid team, mountain rescue, ambulance and borders general A&E, they were all amazing. I think a fellow rider stopped to help too, big thanks.

Oh, and the bike appears to be fine!
