    Interesting views 😀

I should clarify, the bike is 2009/2010 so not ‘vintage’ as I understand that alone is a fashion.

    Just got back Saturday 🙂

Would highly recommend the MBR. Out of all of them I felt this was the most ‘fun’. Mixes red with a few black trails.

There is the Beast, but to be honest I don’t feel the amount of uphill riding warrants the downs. MBR had a good mix of both.

Tarw – Very tame in my opinion, good for a quick 1-2 hour morning ride, but not really a challenge.

Me and 3 really good mates had chance to be in the audience of the Jeremy Kyle show, brilliant right? What could be funnier!

Went along, all of us get pretty immature when we’re together as you do with old school friends, we all got our ‘whooping’ and ‘booing’ voices ready to be the best audience they’d ever seen. Praying for a lie detector test! Sleeping with blah blah blah…

    Our topics:

My daughter killed herself and then we found out she was a prostitute.

My sons death is ruining our marriage.

And we left before the third.

I dont mean to come across as condescending or patronising, as I dont know how much you know about them. But you have to have itunes installed for it to do anything.

You can find this on the apples website and download from there the version that fits your computers needs.

    Hope this helps.

Thanks again. I feel I need to just spend a few hours tonight reading through everything to do with coil shocks so I can really see the benefit of each model.

In your experience LoCo (And i'm aware you sell them), how does the Dueler respond to being pedalled up? The reason i'm asking is despite my riding for the next year or so involving me pushing up. I do have a week at Welsh trail centres in October and don't know how the Dueler will fair in this enviroment? The reviews i've read so far seem mixed on this.

    Thanks.

    Hi Captain

Thanks for your response, the coil jargen is still quite confusing for me in terms of bottom out resistance and the ability to add air? I presumed in my naievity that the coils wouldn't have this available.

This is one aspect of air shocks I do like, the ability to just simply put more air in to produce a stiffer shock. So if the DHX coils have this then they become even more appealing.

So, if anybody can help in a brief way to explain the following: (based purely from TFTuned)

    Fox Van RC, 2011, 215 x 64mm – £269.00

    Fox Van R, 2010, 215 x 64mm – £189.00

    PUSHed Fox Van R, 2010, 215 x 64mm – £248.99

If these are both bought from TFTuned, am I correct in assuming that the 'PUSHed' is what they do on the other Fox Van R shocks as standard anyway? As they say they suit them to your needs.

And finally, the RC or R, a noticeable difference? Something I should even care about?

I apologise if this will require a long winded response, I feel it will take me a couple of hourse to get upto date reading online and the STW World seems to simplify it for me usually quite quickly 😀 If i'm being a nuisance please feel free to just ignore me 🙂

    Thanks

Ha, my shock needed is 216 x 64 so everybody can have whatever they like I have no dibs on anything 🙂

Opt1cal – Thanks for that i'll have a look over and see what they're offering 🙂

Unfortunately your shock is too big 🙁

And I have no doubt that the CCDB is perfect, stil, just seems a large amount of money for my first coil shock.

Geetee1972 – Haha, no worries, you've still helped me 🙂

Lummox – I wasn't aware there were any other ballers' in the STW community 🙂
The only problem with your recommendation is as i've mentioned before, vanity plays a large part for me. Even in the terms of an Ego, i'm more than aware using an Ego5 these days will suffice and keep me happy, but i'd be more inclined for an upto date model. For ease of spares etc

But I completely see where you're coming from and i'll have a look on ebay to see what kind of prices these are going at 🙂

    Thanks

Jedi – I have a friend who has a home built track, owns a lot of land and has an obscene amount of money and just loves building. Full on northshore and everything but for my mates sake I dont wish to say where it is.

Thanks for the responses, the DHX 5.0 seems to get a really good response. Although the Diverse still intrigues me.

Well geetee1972 you seem to be a guy in the know 🙂

Do you have any opinions on the Diverse Dueler?

So in regards to what you recommend, for instance a 2008/9 Fox DHX but with a custom tune?

How will this be for riding up? This will only be actually done on rare occasions, as where I ride now it's purely pushing to the top 🙂

    Hi Jeff

Just browsing at the moment, and unfortunately yours isnt the right length for my Alpine.

Thanks for all the opinions so far

I ride an Alpine 160. You have me intrigued 🙂

Just did a quick search and the Pinkbike crowd seem to be quite fond of them.

Do you have more details with prices etc? EMail is in profile if eneded 🙂

    Thanks

I work in an industry myself, and with each year a new model is released, and although on the outside may look extremely similar, I understand how much work and tiny adjustments go on that most will overlook.

Generally speaking the newer models, despite appearing the same, should have minor changes inside etc that all add up to a better performance.

    …in theory 🙂

Nols – Well i'm sorry that I have caused you to be 'surprised'… heaven forbid the new track I have started riding at is freeride orientated and so my current all mountain knowledge is not as useful. But thank you for your non tongue in cheek response after that comment. It's much appreciated.

Is there a preferable Fox Coil that most or your riding partners use? Upon searching there seems to be a 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 etc, are these labelled due to the year of release? like the 3.0 being 2007, 4.0 being 2008 etc etc

Matthew – Unfortunately the vain side of me makes me want to have a more current model (I know…)

    Thanks

Yes, sorry I know that term gets a frown on this forum 🙂 Heavy duty full sussers built for speed down and not up 🙂

I also have a feeling he doesn't have a towbar, again, something i'll look into along with the spoiler comment.

Shouldnt be more than 60lbs in total however so i'll have a look into weight restrictions.

@P-Jay – Do you know the exact name/title of the one you own? Just so I can do soem research when I get home tonight? I'm hoping this is going to be one of those lucky moments where yours becomes the ideal purchase 🙂

Thanks to all those involved so far really helping 🙂

It's my friends car co can't check right now but that may be correct. In this circumstance I presume a roof rack is the only viable option?

See, I was hoping somebody was in the knowledge that although it wasnt on there, maybe the 2002 version, fitted all models onwards. But now you've said that maybe this isnt the case 🙁

The only point that may have caused a better ending I can see, is that if when told the item was out of stock and 'would be despatched soon', would be to have found out exactly how soon.

That's the only bit you yourself could have done better in my opinion. Other than that, Week and a half does seem plenty of time ahead for ordering so not brilliant from the online company.

The feed isn't that bad it depends on your connection. There were lots of people moaning about stuttering vidos on the live chat at the last round, I as well as my friend didnt get anything but pure perfection.

So just check you have a good connection, no laptops running in the background, downloads going on etc.

For those that didn't watch it from the start, the best Rob Warner quote of the day:

Producer – "We have a question in from Facebook, why are none of the Pros riding 29" wheels?"

lol. Yeah it looks like the top half with the road gaps and the rocks is where its all at in terms of danger.

I reckon Gee and Peaty are going to have the advantage on the second half purely cos of the sprinting.

    Exciting times 🙂

Because a lot of people like to have the latest and greatest?

Like it or not when a model of anything becomes discontinued it loses a certain amount of appeal unless it reaches a 'retro/niche' status.

If somebody could confirm their 2010 Five Boost Valved RP23 has the same settings on a different frame size this would be fantastic.

Sorry what I mean is the standard Compression and Rebound settings that are printed on the side of the actual shock.

Totally agree Rob. Montgomery really went all or nothing, I actually got proper excited watching his final run was a shame about the tailwhip.

Same for Watts, really gave it his all but then a blown tyre. Very disappointing final, hopefully they'll make next years course not so 'deadly', it's not the Redbull Rampage… 🙂

Yeah full on respect for him, how **** top 🙂

It seems like this Crankworx is more about the 'risk' factor rather than the 'trick' factor. Seems a bit of a shame.
