Not only fantastic lights, but their customer service was second to none.

Mine and my colleagues are going on a 14 months strong and no issues to date 🙂

Haha I forgot my previous thread.

I run stainless at the moment on my trail bike and rust seems to appear even with me using bike spray etc.

Feel like giving ti a go, if I have the same issues at least I can say I tried 🙂

By the looks of it now I Can google what it is, the main derailleur bolts to it. So for me to fit it I’d have to remover the derailleur and it’s fully tensioned.

I know but I’ll have to re-do all the gearing again as it’ll push the derailleur outwards. Just wondered if they weren’t really that amazing if missing it would matter 🙂

Ahhhh ok. I’ve actually set-up my bike fully, gears set-up etc. Would you recommend starting again to fit this or is it not really a necessity? My derailleur is pretty beat up already 🙂

    Thanks

OK so having read all the comments it looks like wera have a good response. As I don’t work for a shop they won’t get abused too often so hopefully should last me a fair while.

Torque wrenches, unless running carbon, do you all excommunicated them as a must have? I see all the ‘tighten this to…’, and alu /steel does it matter?

Thanks so far for all the responses 🙂

Oh right ok, do you mind me asking what they wriggled out of? I saw the windows needing specific locks etc :/

Thanks for all the responses that makes perfect sense. Thanks for putting it in laymans terms for me helps a lot 😀

I think I’ll take the advice and just buy the standard plus. If it is something that oranges struggle with I’d rather not have to tune it to make it acceptable.

    Thanks for all the replies

To be honest the only reason I went German was I needed a medium tune and they said stock would be in September. I have a holiday in November so didn’t want to risk the UK stock not turning up in time.

I buy all my other bits mainly through bike stores so I can be forgiven this once 🙂

    Davo – I ordered it through R2-bike.de

Yeah I just found them online so have just purchased. It just so happened everywhere I looked showed the specialized / trek tunes hence my confusion.

Just ordered one from Germany, it appears the uk distributor is out of stock fo them until November.

Do you mind me asking how much you paid?

Thanks for your help tonight mate.

    Hi Rab

That does make sense thanks, I never thought about what the small mill in travel on the shock affects to the actual wheel travel.

The only issue I currently have is looking at the SRAM website for the new Monarch Plus they offer the following:

    216x57mm, 216x63mm with Specialized mount,

Looking into the specialized mount it’s commented that – Specialized bikes have non-standard shock mounts as well a their Autosag feature

So I have no idea if that will fit an Alpine 160? lol

Ah right ok, I’ll try and find the correct size.

    Thanks for the help.

Right ok is that the only difference? Running a 160mm travel bike so will it simply turn into a 154mm travel?

If the eye to eye is the same I presume geometry would stay the same?

    Thanks

I do love this website and the help it gives!

Thanks for the fast responses, makes a lot more sense and means I’m not going mental 🙂

    Thanks

Mines fairly unused, the cassette will be brand new but as it’s for dh it’ll be a cheap £20 one like tiagra, so premature wear won’t bother me 🙂

Fantastic thank you it scared me a little with ‘for road hg chains’.

    Thanks for the help!

I’m most definitely a pusher lol, so by the sounds of it a road cassette is for me 🙂

Quick question, will my KMC chain work fine on a road cassette? I presume it would be worth an ask.

    Thanks again.

Thanks for the info. I already have the Saint items so would like to stick with shimano.

I’ve been running saint on an 11:36, so I’m theory an 11-28 will be fine?

I’ll have a look at the road cassettes, (didn’t know they were interchangeable).

    Thanks for the help!

I could be tired… but what’s the obscene word? I can’t work out one that’s 5 letters and ends in T, I can only think of multiple 4 letter words.

    Genuine question 😀

Ed, I’m ignoring the fact that I feel stupid as this was my first drd use, but thanks so much! I’m excited to swap it out!

Steve-I’m not sure. Loved the bike but, you know when it just doesn’t feel like it’s suited to you? I never felt super confident on it.

    Thanks Taki!

Sorry, I meant slacker. More downhill biased.
Thanks for all the kind comments!

Head angle makes it wander a bit up, but I kinda knew I was sacrificing that for the downhill enjoyment.

Edd! Please explain! I’m struggling to get the gears setup! As in the whole bolt setup? That actually makes a lot of sense! Lol.

    Yes Hora… Office depot 😉

Iolo- the head angles steeper by about 2 degrees from my old frame. So obviously when the track turns downwards just makes me push even more, hence the aggressive feel 🙂

No idea on weight I’m afraid 🙁 for its build it feels fairly light.

Erm, moved the parts across from the Intense, but it’s insured for just over 5.
Cant put a price on happiness they said 😉

Just googled, looks perfect! Thanks Kayak.
Other than needing more fluid over time that should be the only kit I’ll need is that right?

Nope 😉 Deciding on if I can get away with a 380 Reverb as opposed to a 420. But need to order it before having the frame with me.

Thanks Tom, I’m thinking as the Alpine has an extra brace too this would probably make it stronger there than most? Though I have totally guessed that…

I used to own a neon orange and it was stunning. I’ve gone Nein green this time 😉

I did see that site I forgot, I wanted the invisiframe kit that bike treks offer.
    Good deal for someone however.

mojo – my inside leg is 32 and I’m just shy 5″10. I currently ride an Intense Tracer2 in medium at the top tube etc is pretty much exactly the same on the Alpine.

I’d check your current bike to see if the sizing is close also?

niceandy – No discounts anywhere but understandably as it’s a new frame and Orange still being a UK Company. My brother gets discounts through certain stores but none can offer Oranges ion the same scheme.

I did however go through Bike Treks and they’ve been super helpful in all questions so I can’t recommend them enough.

Through recommendation from Bike Treks and Orange I’ve purchased the Medium (17″)

By the looks of it this should be the perfect size 🙂
