Nightmare, this is the only thing that stops me renting my house out. Tenants have way to many rights.

Our friends could only start eviction proceedings after 3 months of non paying rent, it took another 3 months to get them out. 6 months of no rent and £8000 worth of damaged for only a £1800 bond.

I cant believe people are still complaining about the Werewolf Drop being too hard.

I took a non MTB round the monkey and dog on a rigid hybrid on skinny tyres, he didn’t even flinch at the werewolf despite 5mm of movement in his headset. He is mental on a motorbike too though.

Not really. I merely have the ability to read.

Oh dear. I rest my case.

I use my ankle as an excuse sometimes, although it genuinely kills, need to see a doctor about it.

Can’t put what excuses I hear incase I cause offence in the group I ride with, we hear them all… Serial workmen blaming their tools for climbs, DH, jumps and drop offs… It’s comical.

Please do. I assume that is your normal routine anyway, as someone displaying your level of intelligence would not exactly be sought after by any employer, private or otherwise

You couldn’t be more wrong. Your intelligence must be on another level, to psychically gauge my level of intelligence over the Internet is amazing. I applaud your mind superiority.

Oh how well the Tories and their friends in the media have done in selling their myths to a gullible public.

I’ve been sold nothing from the media, I went further in my next post to explain why I have formed that opinion so that anybody that read my previous post did not come to that assumption.

That’s Capitalism, baby.. Oh what you don’t like it that corporations can just lay thousands of workers off cos labour’s cheaper in the East? That they will act according to what gives them the most profit, not what’s in the best interests of their workers? Diddums. Well you can always complain to your union, can’t you? Oh….

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest, it’s survival of the fittest in the real world (private sector). If I’m lazy or do a poor job, I don’t get to keep my job. In the public sector if you do a shit job you get promoted or moved sideways it seems.

Just to give you some background on how my opinion has been formed… I used to work with various county councils, the vast majority of people I came across would be unemployable in the private sector, anyone loosing their job is in for a real shock. As an example of the crap I came across on a regular basis the ‘construction division’ of a local council that I worked with had the number of employees you would expect to see in a £90m turnover construction company. They turned over about £15m a year and lots of external contractors were used because the construction division couldn’t cope.

The construction division when tendering for a job would quote 20 weeks, then end up taking 26 weeks to complete a job. The external contractor would quote 10 weeks for the same job and actually complete on time. The construction division was also a liability and once covered 20 school kids in asbestos dust becuase they were so incompetent.

All of that is by the by, at the end of the day the country can’t afford the public sector as it is, so something needs to change.

To support our mainly incompetent and lazy public sector… When the whole private sector has already severly suffered.

No, I’ll stay at home thanks.

You can spec a real nice 2012 Five Pro, then haggle to get at least 10% off RRP.

Mine had most of the option boxes ticks, factory 32 RLC forks, factory RP23 shock, Hope headset, hope BB, gobo xm saddle, reverb dropper, Thomson stem, hope m4 brakes, custom colour, Easton haven carbon bars, maxle rear. RRP was £3728 and I got it for under £3300 with some v12s and shock pump thrown in.

Wish I’d gone neon green frame with neon yellow rims, one planet has a demo in that colour and it looks mental.

I tried both, you can get a better spec five £ for £ compared to the blur.

For me the five rode a lot better too. Just suited me more.

Also consider the Ibis Mojo HD140, suffers the same problem as above, £ for £ you get a better spec five than you would Ibis, the Ibis rides lovely though and looks so sexual compared to both the blur and five, especially in clear carbon.

How old is your rp23? The does the dial have a 0, 1 and 2 (latest version) or does it have a 1, 2 and 3? (old version)

I have the new version on a single pivot bike and with propedal lever flicked across the bike feels completely different when climbing. I didn’t use it for the first month and was amazed at the difference when I started too. If you jump up and down on the bike the shock is still supposed to move like normal. It’s not supposed to be a lockout.

I ride solo 50% of the time but only on easy routes or red runs for fitness.

If doing a long day or black runs I ride with at least 1 other generally just incase I do my self an injury.

Let people do/wear what they want, I’ve never understood all the dictatorness in all manner of hobbies with people stating what is acceptable and whats not, or stereotyping like ‘all the gear, but no idea’. Chill out and concentrate on you own life, I’m sure you’ll enjoy yourself more, and your blood pressure may drop too.

Although i will say black clothing is my choice, purely from a cleaning point of view… Then a light bike for when you need to be found lying in a ditch, in the wilderness, broken. Neon yellow works well for that.

Excuse the cheesy pose ;) and gut…

I’ve done it twice… The first time was a part time uni job so held no real significance… An employee scratched my car as ‘a prank’… I was was very precious about said car and proceeded to throw bike cleaning chemical in said employees face just before he fell to the ground somehow, I left before I was fired.

The second time was a really tough decision. My employer was cutting everyone’s pay by 12.5% due to the recession, however I was already paid poorly and infact the paycut took me back to less than when I started 5 years ago. I said I would leave if it was enforced… So I found another job and did. HOWEVER, my new job although paying double was managed by some complete jokers, I worked for 4 days before leaving the car and laptop in the car park at the head office with a note to te director explaining all… Fortunately my old employer took me back… At 12.5% less of course… All very embarassing and a low point of my life.

Fortunately I survived another year and secured an awesome job which I love, I feel very fortunate that I wake up and actually want to go to work.

I say jump ship, but have a plan, and the grass is not always greener.

Time of the year is because of the angle of the sun in the sky.

And some photos from the last couple of day because everyone else is doing it… I should add I’m on the south west coast of Sri Lanka at the moment!

    my girlfriend yesterday

    Room with a view

And my current view as I lay here chilling hoping that by the end of this rest period my ankle is strong enough to ride again :(

The mint hotel is nice and right in the centre with basement parking.

Lovely restaurants, and the rooms are fitted out real nice, including iPod docking stations and apple macs free of charge.

I think it’s ok for a fast swooping ride.

I’ve been fortunate and never been while its been busy. I aid I wouldn’t go again after the last time I went as the last 1/3 was boring as hell… but they have since opened the new 6km to the end which will make it flow so much better.

It’s funny how many people fall within the definition of middle class, I don’t even like the idea of classes. There is those that work hard, there is those that don’t. There is those that got lucky, there is those that have nothing but bad luck. Classes mean absolutely nothing when defining a person.

The thought of ‘keeping up with the jones’ or ‘dinner parties’ fills me with hate. Sooner be out on the bike, or enjoying some quality time with my girlfriend.

When I work offshore I can work 100hrs a week easily.

When working onshore it’s very flexible to be honest.

If he paid the £3800 RRP then he is mental!! My Five Pro was more than that once spec’ed up and I got well over 10% off without any haggling.

    Lots of fun

I fell off big time and decked my ankle though. Landed so hard I bottomed out my forks and shock, then rode into a mud bank so hard my stem turned on the headset, re noise was so loud I though I’d snapped my forks. It was about 2 seconds after this pic…

I often just head out, no plan just ride random route, pick up a footpath or bridal way if I see one and see where it takes me, avoiding roads and proper paths as much as possible.

I love the 514, it looks sexual, however when I test rode one the rear was squeeking and crunching and it was a 3 month old demo bike that had not been put through much abuse. The only other bike that comes close in the looks department is the Ibis Mojo.

I came very close to buying a 514, but in the end the orange won on ride quality and durability.

They may just be testing the market.

Another factor may be, that buying around that time they MAY have managed to get a 95% or 100% mortgage… or worse, at a rate of 5% or 6%. The chances are they may have only paid of £10k or less of what they borrowed. They will have a minimum they can accept before they are in negative equity.

2007 was a really shit time to buy!

I have the reverb, bloody love it, first time with it was around Cannock at the weekend and it was great on the new black section, up down, up down, up down. No stopping and putting it down then having to ride the next section with it down until you stop to put it up again.

Does what it says on the tin, great with the remote on the bars.

I’m gonna hammer it about and see if it breaks in its first year whilst under warranty.

Probably, people must fall and hit their heads/necks badly enough.

I quit motorbikes just before taking up mountain biking again properly… I’ve without a doubt injured myself more mountain biking over the last few months than I ever did in 5 years of riding motorbikes. Two friends have broken colar bones this year alone.

FWIW, I was in the Peaks yesterday and saw lots of friendly riders, walkers & horsey riders too…. It was good to see large & small groups out and everyone seemed to be enjoying their day out. People holding gates open, chatting at the top of climbs, the bottom of descents etc…..lovely!

This is pretty much all I have ever experience when out and about… I think there a lot of internet warriors about.

On that note I live close to the peaks, if you fancy heading out ever, I’ve not ridden there yet.

does piss me off that every one stands around and watch, like waiting for pople to fail and laugh….its just a roll in, its not even that steep…bizarre!

I’ve not witnessed this, do people really stand there and watch? Have they not been round the monkey section?

The black section is this video http://youtu.be/UDsVsf3NfhY although it does not look it in the video is quite a bit harder and your more likely to see someone fall off, there is almost proper drops.

Also the black section with the two rock gardens, go watch there, I fell of twice on the second/bigger rock garden before actually managing it (was going to slow, you need to fly down it lol)

The two black drops on the monkey are a little more tricky than that.

    Remote…

I wouldn’t use it half as much I don’t think. Drop of a few rocks… Keep momentum… Saddle back up, then drop down in seconds for the next few drops. If i had ti search for an awkward i wouldnt bother or would have to stop half the time.

Got a reverb and its awesome.

What makes people idiots for having ‘over spec’ed’ bikes exactly? I hate that mentality and it seems to be getting more and more common In every hobby/sport, Christ let them ride what they want! It’s normally by green eyed monsters too, bloody annoying though.

I ride motorbikes with a lad that rides a clapped out sv650, he runs rings around everyone. This weekend he came to Cannock (Saturday for anyone that was there and may have seen him) he came on a clapped out burgundy hybrid with no suspensio, road tyres and a headset that had more movement than my bowels after a bad curry… He still rang rings around everyone.

    Live and let live.

What does the sticker on the frame say? and how does it actually feel? did you not try different sizes before buying it!!!

I’m just under 6ft and have just picked up my 18″ five… I’ve always ridder 20″ treks and cubes… the 18″ five still feel big and the reverb only has another 2″ adjustment left in it. The bottom brackets are also quite high on fives I think.

Picked mine up today, took 3 weeks, which I’m happy with as I was told there was a delay on the Factory 32 RLC until the 14th November. I hadn’t see the olour in the flesh only in photos, but it’s awesome in the flesh… thank god.

    Pure sex
