Only if you can take the bike inside the hotel… if you don’t it will get pinched from around there.

The organisation I work for stopped all employees flying on Ryanair flights for business because of the various safety concerns, including the lack fuel. If they miss their landing a slot more often than not they do not have sufficient fuel to get to an alternative

I was surprised (and a bit disappointed) at the lack of fast flowing singletrack when I was there 2 weeks ago.

It is very much like the Peak District on steroids, with bigger roots and bigger rocks, and longer / steeper… with many many steep switch backs lol

La Thuile is well worth a visit over the other side of St Bernard Pass in Italy… it was close to being one of my favourite days.

I hear Sainte Foy uplift service is very good and probably more the fast flowing smooth singletrack you may be looking for.

Any of the multi-storey car parks. They are about £35 a week if booked in advance.

The other off site car parks are not much cheaper.

I wore a full face with POC knee and elbow pads last year.

The only reason I was glad to have the full face on the PPdS event day was because temps dropped to 6c and it rained the whole way round.

The event is very tame… more like fire roads.

Was exactly the same last year…

So spent sunday in 25c heat around the Peak District instead… and in two weeks time will be going 150miles further south to Whiterooms in hope of better weather haha.

    Based on this thread…

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/just-pre-ordered-my-zesty-314-2013-2400-have-i-made-a-mistake

Where you were questioning buying it before you even got it… I’d suggest you have ‘buyers remorse’ and are looking for any excuse for a refund possible.

Bike wasn’t cracked (but probably will), and spoke break (not sure what else you can mean by wheel broke, unless you mean buckled)… Move on and ride your bike…

After mine broke (2012 reverb) 4 month from new… I sent it back to fisher, who in fairness fixed everything that was wrong with it… But also sent back a shirt letter saying I should service it more. Bearing in mind it was 4 months old and hardly used..l I kindly asked them to advise me of the service and preventative maintenance regime required to keep it top top… And they never replied.

So I went back to a fixed post, and never miss the dropper, even on steep stuff riding blind.

I proposed after 12 longs years of avoiding it in April… Such was the surprise my 28 year old now fiancé had a stroke haha…

Anyway if you want a venue that is not a grotty worn out hotel then you can expect the venue alone to be at least £5k we have found… And even some at that price are not great.

£50 a head is pretty standard for just a basic 3 course meal.

£1000 for a photographer for the day, without getting ANY photographs is in normal, and cheap. An album… £500 extra, memory stick with photos £300 extra.

Wedding dresses that are not mass produced by debenhams, at least £1k

Drinks packes from £15 per head is normal, not many cheaper (we picked a venue that has let us take our own drinks, with no corkage fees, which can be £7.50 a bottle or more).

I don’t know many people by any stretch of the imagination, in fact I lead a quite boring friendless life compared to some, but we got to 80+ people in the day, and 120+ in the evening.

The most costly part of all… Family relationships… Right from the start all you get is ‘are you inviting such and such’… ‘why are you not inviting you 5th step cousin’.

I now know why I put it off for 12 years, and I wish I had put it off another 12 years… It’s frankly a farce and not worth it.

Here is mine… float 36 RLCs for me… it’s a heavy bike though, and hard all day in the peaks… I’m more frequently taking my carbon cube out nowdays and having more fun.

Thule 561… No contact is made with the frame, clamps to fork where the QR would go

    24 / 34 works nice…

You can squeeze a 36 on, but the chain can catch on the frame in certain configurations / shifting patterns.

My alps / peaks bike. Handled it fine, going with whiterooms this year, so much more singletrack orientated and more at home hopefully.

Only significant change is renthal 50mm stem and renthal 780mm bars :-D

The chest mount always seems to give the best real world footage. Helmet mount makes even if stuff look small.

I used a bar mount the other day which looks ok, maybe a bit bouncy…

weather was horrible last year, full on head wind for the whole day.

Couple of pinch points too, much debate over whether it was poor organisation or poor riding that wa causing it.

I have POC knee and elbow protection… they are brill, fallen off plenty of times with them, and they provide great protection. You don’t even know they are there.

The VPD liquid hardens when hit, but once warm is pretty fluid. Trying them on in a shop you need to have them on for 5minutes so your body temperature molds them to you for max comfort.

Love my K2 turbo dream… fast!!

I’m not into doing tricks etc, just fast carving on steep stuff. It seems perfect for that.

What do you plan on using it for?

I have a cube reaction gtc sl… It very fast, very light etc… I bought it to race the Manx end2end

But in reality I wish I’d built a real nice Cotic Soul, as it suits my general riding more, and I never use the cube and in fact that’s what I will probably plan on doing in the near future.

Don’t suppose you want a cube reaction gtc sl? 9 months old, great condition, full xt etc. Probably after £1250

Your video actually shows some nice cutgate singletrack

Ha, peak = fire roads. I’ve not heard that one before.

Someone should show these guys starting at ladybower, climb up ‘horrific hagside, down screaming mile then across cutgate and back ;-)

Could nip down hagg farm and up and down the beast before heading to cutgate, to show some of the trickier descents.

Ha, my favourite time to ride if it’s not windy.

Winter 2011 was epically dry and cold, shame about summer 2012.

Lond is hard at this time of the year… but if you want and epic, try this one

no record times were set on the day we did it

another option is the mamtor / jacobs ladder classic, this entire route (except the intitial mamtor section) is dry and rocky

You should do this route as a good introduction to the peaks

£250 per person will be tight… And make sure everyone gets on well in the camper… If just one of the people you go with turns out to be a complete penis it will ruins everyone’s holiday!!

There is a set of vids from the whole 10 days up there, the thing over the Morzine stuff was the length of the trails some went on for days and the fact that we were nearly alone all the time, never any crowds, queues or hassle from ass hats.

I was sat watching your vids on Vimeo last night getting myself all excited again lol

Will go for Morzine this year and see what happens. Looking at the last week of June so hopefully brake bumps won’t be too bad.

    Oli.

We went at the end of June and the weather was horrific, and the trails a complete mess. We did the 85km PPdS event and ended up looking like the below, and we looked much worse on other days lol

The event is ok if you want to see how to get to all 9 of the other resort, but the riding was a bit rubbish, mostly on fire roads, or indeed actual roads, even the DH detours were tame. This is on at the end of June when your wanting to go.

    http://www.passportesdusoleil.com/passportes-2013-edition.html

Chatel mountain style is probably on at the end on June again which is worth watching, although most of it was cancelled due to weather when we were there :-(

We went to the passportes du soleil area last year and I was a bit disappointed, we had bad weather that probably didn’t help but the trails were a mess with ruts upto your discs and braking bumps that were just to much like hard work with 160mm to be enjoyable. It was also just insanely busy and heavily DH orientated…. Great if you are the next Danny Hart, not great if in reality you dont jump 20ft gaps very often and prefer lakes / peak district fast singletrack. It’s easy to say its not all DH orientates, but unless your local or go guided its not easy to find the nice stuff.

We are going to Sainte Foy with whiteroomchalets this year which sounds about perfect for me, can’t wait and already excited like a kid lol.

Ultimately it’s down to what your hoping to get out of it and you riding style.

Fox 36 up front, coil CCDB on the rear, it’s not the lightest thing in the world but fine for 30miles in the peaks.

If I did it all again I’d probably get a lighter package all round. But I do love it as it is.

I believe some of the skiers returning back from European destinations are finding the new wave of tourists from the Eastern bloc quite hard going too.

Queing you say… nope, survival of the fittest / rudest when it comes to European Ski resort apparently.

depending on how far you have to go, i enjoy practicing manuals, wheelies, proper bunny hops… anything to pass time and help me improve at the same time
