    Great stuff, thanks!
Loads of choice, but must say the line up at Bestival looks like it will suit the family well – Madness, Human League and Calvin Harris…plus Mr Tumble and The English National Ballet (not together I hope)!
    :D

    My missus is offering suggestions…
    – Make a Mummy: competition to make the most authentic / funny mummy – from lots of toilet paper. Divide into teams etc.
    – Musical statues or bumps are always favourites (and you can keep them going as long as you want)
    – Musical islands: Similar to musical chairs – but several sheets of paper on the floor, keep removing a sheet until they're all trying to fit onto the last one

    …enjoy!

Just listed (on ebay) my Rockshox seatpost earlier tonight…does the job. Been sitting on a spare Gary Fisher in my garage which has had next to no use in the last 3/4 years…

    …that should of course read 50% Snow/Ice and 50% Mud/Stone…

Anybody been up today? The way the torrents were coming off the tops I imagine it would be almost clear now, just in time for this Wednesday's snow!

Managed to get in our regular route earlier tonight. Conditions still tricky – 50% snow/ice. The entire descent from Sugarloaf down to St Anns Well was sheet ice, couldn't even stand up!
South of the Wyche was mainly rideable but a bit tricky on high/exposed areas and ice fields around the more sheltered corners…
…all in all a fun night but really looking forward to solid ground!!

My 13 yr-old has just moved up to 26" wheels so has inherited a pile of unloved tyres and will no doubt have them down to canvas as soon as we have a dry spell…

I have used M&S for a couple of years and can recommend – now have a policy with Greenbee (both AXA I believe). Having just received my renewal off Greenbee at £507 pa was wondering who else is out there that can offer the equivalent cover?
Are we stuck with these two?

Managed to fit 2 rides in over the weekend. Pretty much as described as at Sunday night…we were pretty knackered after regular 9-mile route. Very draggy on some of the lesser used paths south of The Wyche, other areas pretty good and fast but affected by walkers tracks. Mega-strong and cold westerleys when you're high up.
Intend putting some flats back on just to help on some of the post-stall hill starts! Bstrds!

Yup, no breakages yet but was surpised to see degree of corrosion from the salt after leaving bike for a week in the garage. Not a cheap chain either – now very well lubed.

Three kids and busy job = a fairly mediocre 800 miles and 37,700 mtrs of climbing…more to do in 2010 methinks!

My instructions recommend that I store batteries in the fridge (!) So they have their own box inc silica gel. I do tend to keep my lights in the house though – I worry about the heat change from garage storage to oparational running…

We used our macpac for three kids over 10 years … really good quality. Make sure you get one with the sun canopy and rain cover though…enjoy!

I sold my s-works epic a couple of years ago and bought a B1 KILLERBEE hardtail. Fully loaded with XTR and FSA carbon kit…on one of the tightest, lightest frames I have ever ridden.
…one of the frames was on ebay recently for around 60 quid! for an x-fusion alloy frame of not much over 2lbs….ffs!
Love mine, thrashing it a couple of times a week over t'ills.

Yes, IME it tends to be down to how the retailer marks up the custom tag ie if they tick the 'gift' box or state contents are low value you'll avoid paying import tax. Otherwise you will end up having more to pay…

"I only shower after a ride if I have company"…nope, barely allowed back in the house after a night ride until I get a shower – Mrs D tells me I smell like a dead horse…

We had our tent nicked at Mayhem last year (08), they settled really quickly but our renewal was significantly higher. Took our business to John Lewis (AXA) who offer more or less the same cover re expensive bikes, kit etc

I just put my Nobby Nics back on for a very wet and muddy night ride yesterday and they were ace – just one slip in 2-hrs which was okay….

Would you not be at risk of serious eye discomfort if you met LEDs/HIDs of bikers coming the other way? Apart from looking even more of a tw@ !
