    "Are we not forgetting STEPS?"

The statement was to remind ourselves how lucky we are that not all commercially successful artists would be welcome back…

I got to see The Jam six times in my youth and thought 'From The Jam' would be a good bet for a first proper gig to take my 13-yr old son to.
Of course he was adamant that he didn't want to go so I didn't buy any tickets…lo and behold the night before the gig he turns around to me asking if we are still going to see that band then? And had the gall to look disappointed!

    …blaaardee typical!

Still managed to get the whole family groovin' to Weller at the Mini's 50th Festival though! "God Like Genius"

Bought mine from SJS Cycles on ebay too – not expensive but great on the odd occassion when stuck in the house. Ideal for clocking on miles pre-event.

I'm gonna fret all night about this now…

If the planet's axis did shift by 8cm during the quake, days would have shortened by 1.26 microseconds, Mr Gross calculated.

    Thanks Smudge
I'll keep an eye on them over the coming weeks. Depending on the outcome I may be interested in one of your
stock batteries – really looking for dependable lights for >2hrs.
Accepting that may be difficult with 1850lumens though….I'll be in touch.

Could mtbbatteries supply with a TrailTech female connector fitted?

    Hi-jacked post, sorry!

Smudge – can you help / advise please?
I have been running a Trail Tech SCMR16 light for the last 12-mths or so … riding a couple of nights a week. Have two batteries (11.1v 6600mAh) where the performance for both has dropped from over 2-hrs to around 1-hr (each).
Is this the effect of the cold weather and should I expect performance to improve as the Spring kicks in? or are they both knacked?
The batteries have not been abused at all – sadly following guidance for charging/storage etc
    Would welcome your guidance…

I'm never in a position to drive up (with work commitments etc) … but I do like the idea of it. Have a good bit of crac on the trip and to know you're in.

Was just wondering how many do?

How long should you expect from Li-Ion batteries in the cold?
I have a couple of 6600mAh batteries and their performance is way down on what I would normally expect – down to approx 1-hr where I used to get over 2-hrs….is this the effect of riding in cold and sub-zero temperatures or are they both goosed!!?

Used Disco pads in my XTR brakes and have just bought 4 sets of Kevlar matrix Superstar Components pads. Look like a great deal at £25 for four.

    Sorry, late response…watching the 'lympics!

The original book is on ISBN Ref 075382566X – Valkyrie: The Plot to Kill Hitler by Philipp von Boeselager.
PvB encouraged by his daughter to break silence – not a novel, more like a chronological memories, interesting values from his childhood brought up in the great outdoors – spent years as a cavalry officer, looked after his men and his horses.
Not written in a big hollywood way, more humble if you ask me. I enjoyed the read.

    How did the film go?

I've not seen the movie but the book (Philipp von Boeselager' memoirs) does give an insight. IIRC Philipp and his elder brother were pretty senior, decorated officers and were privvy to very occassional meeting with AH et al.
Basically they would give their life for their country but hated the nazi party and all it meant.

The book is well written, modest and honours the officers that were executed for the attempts at Adolfs life…massive risks on the odd occassion when they were back from the front and may be in the same room as the man. Let me know if the hollywood version is any good!

About 95 miles (which is more than usual for me at this time of year) plus lots of climbing (>12,000ft)…lots on snow/ice and nearly all off-road.

Pretty interesting in places tonight…as above 2-3cm of slime on loop around Wyche – Holywell – Gardiners Quarry cheeky. Plenty fun. You'll be fine on your tyre choice I reckon and hopefully it'll be quieter for you if its a bit claggy up there.

Agreed there's the odd patch / stretch of proper, proper mud but not enough to justify mud tyres. I've had my 'all season' Nobby Nics on since Mayhem in june and they're ace but have also used Conti Mountain and Race Kings which are pretty effective.
Enjoy … if going at peak times just watch out for the walkers, toddlers with mums, pensioners and dogs….much more fun in the dark!
