    Hi Marko,

Just sent you an email. Many Thanks GL.

I was thinking about this the other day. I find (even here with private health care), the Doctors seem too happy to just pass things off as it’ll be okay and I quite often wonder how interested they are in really getting to the source of the problem once they have done the blood tests and MRI’s and nothing obvious has popped up.

I’ve not had anything serious (touch wood), but as most of us are pretty active and fit, we know when something’s not right. You can leave it for a bit to see if it sorts itself out, but after a while you know that something needs attention.

OP, hope you get it sorted, doesn’t sound very pleasant at all.

To look at a different angle…fill it up before you leave…you’ll still need something to lay your bike on, but a hell of a lot less mess….can pretty much clean the whole bike (normally left with a bit of mud on the tyres), and saves you from having to clean the bike when you get home

I know someone who managed to walk through a patio door, was always bashing himself, dropping things or generally being a clumsy oaf. A year or so ago he managed to fall over and break his son’s leg quite badly .

Strangely enough I’ve very rarely been in a car whilst he’s driving.

If there is some kind of “clott” gene, then he has far too much of it.

Tried to fit 3 car seats in one

    We’re keeping the S-Max.

This car is for me. On the very odd occasion I’ll need to have all 3 of them and I can’t use the S-Max, my daughter is okay with a booster seat.

Main reason for going for estate is the Swiss and Germans seem to prefer estates to salon’s so there are more of them to choose from. Main reason going for 3 series are they’re are quite a few to choose from. Don’t really need height clearance as you’ll struggle to find roads that require it. 4×4 mainly for snow and ice

May have to look at LHD landies from the UK, even with import duties it will work out better than buying one here. Really silly money. Completely different to a 325 I know, but always fancied one, used to drive a series 3 (LR) years ago.

I should have added. Already have a 7 seat S-Max. (3 kids still in seats).

Hence I need something that’s not too small. Can cope with a couple of bikes and camping gear for weekends away, but doesn’t need to be main car big.

If it drives okay, then all the better. I only use a car, once, twice a week (with the bike the rest of the time) so not worried about a 2.5 petrol engine.

Fancy a 325, but will have to be x-drive as ice and snow are a part of life.

Cars are silly prices here and hold there value for about 4-6 years then plummet, so looking at something around 2009.

Bought a bike from them a few years ago. Very good customer service and they know their stuff. Good company.

    Mother….old….tick….70 (Although I’d still say she’s closer to 60)
Use of kindle….tick….mainly for Sudoku and email.

Something I found with them (and maybe everyone knew this and I’m just a Luddite). Instead of pressing each key to type something you can just drag your finger around over the key board over the letters spelling the word and generally it works pretty well.

Although I do wish I wouldn’t keep falling asleep whilst reading in bed…I’m gonna break my nose one of these days.

    I bought a QUMOX SJ4000 recently.

Had to buy a memory card and also choose a spare battery.

Very impressed so far with the quality, good camera, plus it comes with all the gizmos.

eshoote, interesting write up, I enjoyed that, thanks.

I really enjoyed reading your cycling east blog and must admit it played a big part in my decision to get an ATR.

I did a mini tour in the summer in the South Eastern Swiss Alps with bike packs. Found a compact with 11-32 okay, but I should imagine if it was more off road then something lower geared would be better.

You should try some Shimano ST-R685 (although not sure how that would work with triples). Massive difference to mechanicals.

Looking forward to reading the latest adventures.

Yep, Uetliberg trail is pretty good, although I think some of it might be closed off at the moment due to logging. From there all the way through to Sihlwald along the Arete there are a few cool little single tracks.

Also up Dolder way up by the Zoo is also some good riding and a pump track.

Wipkingen, yep, good place to be, Zurich is pretty small with good transport so easy to get around.

I’m out on the West side over the other side of Albis pass. We’ve got 3 kids so finding a place big enough and with okay rent meant moving out a bit….but the kids love the country around us so it’s okay….apart from the smell of cow sh&$te.

Yep, the first 6 months to a year you keep having to take a second look at prices….3 years on and I still can’t get over the price of eating out…

Word up Ben…yurp, I’m based in Zurich. Email in profile.

Another good place to find out about rides is Swiss Alpine Adventures on meet up.

Where about’s are you based/looking? Good luck with the flat hunt….pretty tricky.

    LinkSprinter.

Pretty cheap if I remember correctly and handy little tool. Although to actually see the IP you’ll have to connect to the device wirelessly with your smart phone. Also tells you what switch port you are connected to…plus some other stuff.

I think it’s a good bit of kit.

Trust me you do….. I have one for tools I don’t use that much….

Proper manly stuff sitting in my basement….

Tell you what, send me your bank details, then you can transfer some money to me and I’ll send you a few “select” photos of said item….I may just leave a power tool or two laying around in the background 😉

Haven’t read any of the previous comments, but this has reminded me of something.

When I was at school, one of the lads got his black belt (karate I think). Even then I realised his father was a pushy over bearing type.

Skip forward 30 odd years, I saw a picture of him (the son) on facebook a while back….he is huge…..and I don’t mean in a good way. Obese!

So what relevance that has on your situation…not much I suppose.

If you daughter is still into something sporty and positive, I think you should back her up….She’s still achieved a great deal….Be thankful it wasn’t horse riding and you’ve just bought her a horse 😉

I know it’s not on-line and I don’t know how up to date it is, but I read this ohhhhh more years than I care to remember and have been working in Networks since:

How in depth do you want to get?

Cisco qualifications are always worth while and if you read the books rather than been a CCpdf, you will learn some useful skills.

With that said, if you get serious about things, don’t by afraid to learn about other vendors other than Cisco.

Unix, tried that once, interesting stuff, but didn’t click for me….but if you can pick up some scripting, always useful.

I have been riding a Tripster most days since February.

I’ve been riding pretty regularly since the 90’s….I still get a bit spurt pants when I ride the ATR…..

    Stoater is nice for sure.

You won’t be upset with a Tripster….makes sure you get hydraulic disks….soooo much better than mechanical and you will notice the difference if you do a bit of light touring.

It’s not a quick bike to accelerate compared to a proper road bike, but it just glides over bumpty stuff and you finish a long ride not feeling like you’ve been beat up.

Who knows what problems you may have in the future.

I’m sure he didn’t mean to do it, but it very much sounds his fault and you are going to have a good few tough months in front of you.

I would definitely contact lawyer specialising in these sort of things.

Are these the ones you are talking about?

I use these on my commute bike, pretty good, although I would say it would be nice for them to reach down to the BB on the rear and be a bit longer on top for the front one.

But they do the job pretty well and on and off in minutes. I kept the spare stretchy rubber to protect the frame from getting scratched where they fit.

    Thanks for the responses.

It’s just from a cheapo Chinese import that I chuck on my helmet. Got a better one for bar mounting….needless to say you can see the difference in quality.

I’ve found the parts on their site, I’ll have a measure up tonight to see whether it’s 2.1 or 2.5

    Thanks again,

    GL

Had one under my Oakles a few years back….I was not pretty a few hours later, proper swollen eye socket and cheek.

Thankfully my MTB lid has mesh on the front.

One of these (although no in ASBO orange):

No kid starts off wanting to be bad.

    Do you have children?

If you do, not sure how your ones behave….mine…..give me strength…

There are 3 of them and I’m sure they discuss each week who’s turn it is to give mum and dad grief.

One moment, wonderful little things, apple of their Dad’s eye, next moment. Sporn of the Devil.

As for the OP, I think after an explanation if their actions carry on….tough love.

Other than that they are shite coz you either got it or you don’t.

Don’t really agree with that, if that was the case professional athletes wouldn’t have coaches.

Granted, you have to have some base skills, but like many things in life, training and tools used correctly quite often help improve things.

I’m a very good people person, but for instance, when someones isn’t doing a great job I would find it difficult to point this out without putting their nose out of joint…at the end of the day, it’s getting the best out of what you have to work with.

First time we ever shared a bed whilst she was asleep she let one go (whilst asleep) that made the windows rattle.

That was 15 odd years ago, she hasn’t stopped since.

Although her’s are always “unplanned” where as mine are always “forced”.

As I always say, “Better out than in”.

I’ve had one for donkey’s years, used to use that and a bladder only camel back when camel backs first became the norm…..I’ve still got both, although I use a camel back rucksack now days….Christ I keep hold of my stuff.

Still use the bum back from time to time if I’m just popping out for a quick local ride, just to hold pump, tube and basic tools.

Now….as soon as paisley ties are back in I’m laughing!!!!!

yep, it’s still “dusty” from the last summer evening ride I did…reminds me of what’s to come next spring.

Got the old faithful 26″ hardtail to blat over winter. Looking forward to the really cold snow days, always a laugh to ride on compacted snow.

As well you shouldn’t. That is one of the unbreakable rules. You’ll be telling me you’re wearing no white socks next.

You could even say it was a premeditate crime….I even thought yesterday evening, don’t forget a brown belt….but I didn’t get it out there and then and forgot…..I did try sans belt….but alas, then me pants would be showing…..and that’s even worse than white socks.
