If we were to cause a big kick ass..full blown Nuclear war…blew up the moon and perhaps caused a change in the gravitational pull of the planets…
I think we would have made our mark! ;)
But I think it’s safe to say things would carry on their way (probably better) without the Human bods about…we are part of the system, but the system is much too big to be bothered by us.
growingladFree MemberLike a BOSS!!
Hmmmm, looks like I have some training for my little ones!!
growingladFree MemberI’m on my second stint in foreign lands. Did Greece for 10 years, then that imploded so we got out of dodge and now in CH.
I’m lucky as I can travel the world with my job long as they have puters!
Been further afield and the fact they speak God’s own language is easier, but OZ/NZ nice enough places, but bloody tough to get back and time differences are a pain in the butt.
I’ll stick to Europe, like the fact things are different enough to keep you interested, but still possible to get back when needed.
I get pretty shocked when I come back to the UK…to me it seems things are going backwards, not forwards.
Is tough packing up and moving on, if there are others to think about you all have to be game, it’s tough and it’s only when you are all working to the same goal can you get through things unscathed!.
Way I look at it, life happens too quickly, you gotta take as many opportunities as you can get your grubby paws on, different experiences make you more “Worldly”.
growingladFree MemberI was thinking about fitting a saddle to the top tube, but I have a Cube with an angled top tube i.e. it ain’t round, not sure I’d be able to fit a saddle to it…although open to hear how others have fitted something to the top tube.
growingladFree MemberThanks all, some really useful comments to give me stuff to think about.
I’m trying to avoid buying any news bikes, got enough already, let alone when the kids start having something a bit more than the balance bike.
Child seat kind of makes sense, but now my daughters getting a bit older and more active I like the idea of her doing a bit more than just sitting strapped into the seat. I hadn’t thought about trailer on the back of the tag alone…good bit of extra training :) Works though…hmm, that way I can take them out on my own, or if the Missus is with us, we can share the load. At the moment, it’s just a case of being able to get a little further in our area to explore local woods ect…anyone that’s ever walked with 3 kids under 4 will know it’s easier herding cats!! Hate the idea of putting them in the car for somewhere we could get to easily with 10-20 minutes on a bike. Plus over here there are loads of really good cycle paths (i.e. wide enough to drive a car down) and very rarely width restrictions….This is Switzerland…just a sign is all it takes to make sure people stick to where they should :)
Had to laugh at the video..if I had one of my lads on the back when we went past a dumper truck he’d jump off no matter what speed we are doing and chase after if shouting DIGGER!!!!, bonkers for diggers and dumper trucks.
Thanks again…all very useful, GL.
growingladFree Memberfranksinatra – I see you know where I’m coming from :)
I did wonder whether she could be trusted….she can be a bit blond at times!
Is it better to have the bike seat on a rack? I saw one that can connect to a bracket that fixes to the seat tube of the frame?
growingladFree MemberIf you are a masochist, you can also do bike seat on the bike with the trailer attached, so you can take all three.
Yep, already thinking that for times when it’s just me..
But quite like the idea of my daughter riding on her own a bit more. She’s starting to get the idea with the balance bike, so I think by spring summer, she’ll be ready for a proper bike, but still want to be able to tow her a long a bit so we can explore a bit more.
growingladFree MemberLucky as i got the wife into biking. First weekend away before bikes was climbing up snowdon and we met on a climbing course so no probs there. Having 3 kids under 4 has left me in the red regarding free time. About to put them to bed and head out for a quick blast on the fix. Bit tough at times and sometimes miss the freedom to just grab my bike and kit and head off for the weekend. But earlier playing with the rug rats on their balence bikes is the plus. So good partner no. Kids can make things a bit trickier
growingladFree MemberHas nobody mentioned bedroom gymnastics yet?
This place is going to the dogs
I’ve just realised a few years ago that would have been my first answer, now 10 or so years on, with 3 kids….I do love a nice Ovaltine!
growingladFree Memberjust want to meet a normal, well adjusted woman
Yeah, good luck with that one!!
growingladFree MemberFirstly well done…As a bloke who likes beer and who knows I have a habit of enjoying it a tad too much I can tell you, you’ve done the right thing…nice to have a drink from time to time, but 4-5 every day is getting a bit much.
I made the same decision a while back and have cut back quite a bit, stick with it and you’ll suddenly find you sleep like a log and wake up feeling refreshed.
Nice shower, horlicks/ovaltine and good book, just need to train your body/mind into a routine…
….I’ve got to such a Jedi state now I struggle to read 3-4 pages before the ol nodding dog takes hold!
Stick with it!
growingladFree MemberLook at the state of her…she’ll hopefully drop dead soon and the World will be a better place.
growingladFree Member@growlinglad – very jealous mate, you are in a fabulous outdoor playground as you well know. Aside from everything right on your doorstep and around the lake you have bike parks and Alpine stuff in the resorts of Graubunden (Laax, Lenzerheide, Davos etc).
We’ve only been here since end of June and things are just settling down now so it’s all a bit of an exploration at the moment.
My new boss is a mountain biker so hopefully he’ll be able to give me some tips on where to head…but just going by today…man..can’t believe how much good riding (road and mtb) is right on my door step…I’m a very happy bunny!!
growingladFree MemberTrail ferries? What tyres for Lake Geneva?
Well spotted sir…must admit, talking of tyres..I’ll be changing the one’s it has…I’ve got a spare set of my old favorites ready to go on for tomorrows ride.
growingladFree MemberDid you see the doctor about your problem?
Day by day I’m getting over it…although I still have a few jerseys
growingladFree MemberHave the aluminium 29ers not got rack mounts?
yes they have . . fox fork too . . .
Good spot, I’ll have to take a look at that one.
I note from the blow up photo, there doesn’t seem to be much clearance between the tyre and seat tube…have to check it out in the flesh!Cheers!
growingladFree MemberApart from the rack mounts issue, I’d highly recommend Cube. The litle lady has one and it’s a fantastic bike, especially for the price.

Looking at the blown up photo of the above it appears to have rack mounts…am I missing something?
What’s your lady got? Thinking of getting one of these for the good wife

Plus I’ll probably buy a trailer for the twins and one of those trailer/bike things for my 3.5 year old daughter….needless to say I shall be asking for quite a discount!!
growingladFree MemberReally enjoyed that, I’ve been off the mountain bike for a few years (it got nicked and we had 3 kids). Just getting back to it now and watching that has made me realise how much I’ve missed it!!
Well done, good video.
growingladFree MemberThe reasons I’m thinking of sticking with Endura and I’m hoping their kit is still up to the quality it was a few years ago, I can remember many a time when I’d be out in that real drizzle rain, could have been for a good few hours and I’d still be nice and cozy under my jacket. Also, due to family commitments a lot of my riding is early morning. I’ve noticed even now in August, even though the day time is lovely and warm, mornings are a bit parky, I’m living in a valley in Switzerland now, takes until later in the morning for things to warm up. I’m looking for something I can time after time, chuck over my winter cycling top and go out for a quick hour blast without having to worry about putting on, or taking off layers.
thanks anyways. GlgrowingladFree MemberYou could visit a ‘bike shop’ and perhaps try it on and buy from there? It might better answer your questions. ….
If you wish to pay Swiss prices, be my Guest. That’s if you can find an Endura stockist here.
I’m also looking to pay in Sterling, so bar jumping on a plane, I’ll settle for mail delivery…thanks!
Thanks to those who had something useful to add, appreciate it!
Cheers,
Gl.growingladFree MemberThanks for the advice chaps!
Seems like the stealth is the one to go with…I seem to remember my old one was the Venturi, if the Stealth is better than that then I’ll be a happy chappy.
Quick question, I can’t tell from photos, is the cut nice and low at the base of the back so it covers your butt a bit when you’re hunched over and what’s the score with the sleeves/cuffs. Is it an elasticated zip keeping it nice and snug around the cuffs?
Thanks again GL
