But just think….when someone falls off it won’t be rude to laugh at them….not because they fell off

……no just because they are a complete knbob spending that sort of money.

Blimey, glad it’s not just me then….

“downhill on a corner. I ended up having to go to A&E, broken ribs, road rash etc etc. got to go in an ambulance, after 10mg of morphine.

Now at home, off my tits on pain killers and it’s still sore to move.

Bike is ok though, I managed to break its fall

Same can’t be said of my cycling gear (over shoes, bibtights, jersey, base layer and gloves). “

Been there, done that and still have some of the drubs left for when I have other “mishaps”

Still nursing a broken thumb September time, much better, but still a bit achie in the cold when changing gears on the MTB.

Still, better than being a fat bar-steward eh!

I had a RS Turbo Fiesta, used to Torque stear like a bitch, tried to pivot around when you really hammered the brakes and could never beat an Astra 16V.Glad to see the back of it.

Try searching for Blue Sky Resume.

Takes you step by step on how to put one together and they way you work through it really helps to make you realise what you are good at which helps greatly in the interview.

    Good luck.

Just to add a little for anyone reading investigating what light to buy.

I have bought two of the following:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CREE-XM-L-XML-T6-LED-1800-Lm-Bicycle-bike-Head-Light-Headlamp-Rechargeable-Head-/221289019511?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item3385da7877

The lights are good and powerful but the beam is quite direct as a spot, good if head mounted, but on the bars you sometimes find yourself quickly moving the bars left right to get a better view.

Secondly on both battery packs, they had a PCB which I believe stops the batteries getting too far discharged. I found that both battery packs had two duff cells (after one year), both the same ones. I’ve removed the PCB and straight away I saw an improved amount of time the batteries held their charge.

Someone else on the forum mentioned the PCB and I must admit, things seem a lot better since removing it.

If I was to buy another battery pack the same, I’d personally remove the PCB straight away and solder the cable directly to the batteries.

    Thanks for the input guys.

@Robbieh, yep, noticed that PCB and wondered what it was about.

@ MarkLG, yeah, think keep hold of the lamps and just match up with new batteries (decent ones this time).

    Looking at getting:

    http://www.magicshine.co.uk/front-bike-light-kits/magicshine-mj-872-kit.html

So I’ll get another standard battery pack to go with the lamps I already have.

….Met a bloke a few years ago who said that he didn’t drink as he really enjoyed partying a bit too much…soon as he was on the sauce….he was off on a massive session, so he decided it was best just no to do it.

Fair enough I said, could see where he was coming from.

This lady has obviously got a bit of an addictive personality….she’s decided to knock it on the head, hope she keeps going….but perhaps, something could knock her off the wagon in the future….

Thing is, after one date you’re already wondering whether you’ll be supporting her in the future….so perhaps you could be looking a bit too deep into this.

Rash tops….time and time again….only after 17:00 if the sun has died down a bit take it off and use a bit of Sun cream

Also, from 12:00 until 14:00, go and have a long lunch and perhaps a sleep.

I spent 10 years in Greece, other half is a bubble so learnt from the locals….most of the locals will have buggered off around lunch time and will come back later in the day.

I’m quite dark for an Anglo Saxon skin wise and tan well, but only early in the morning or late after noon, during the day, rash top and hat.

Mis-read that map, thought, “Don’t tell me there’s a place in England called Monster C**k……”

Shame…..think I’d have to move there just to use the address!.

As for the ROCK….think it’s quite cool….it will still be there long after the paint has gone…..

    Similar thing for me too…..

….although I do quite enjoy Christmas.

Cue lots of screaming as I was stung about 8 times on my balls

My mum thought I was just throwing a tantrum and added a slap to my injuries.

Sorry, but that one had me in tears…old school parenting!!

My mum used to keep a wooden spoon in her handbag…that one across the back of the legs (if she caught me) could smart a bit!

Had a few things go bang over the years…four broken vertebrae is probably the most serious sounding….

Think smashed up ribs are the most painful.

Yep, the old banjo going….that’s up there in the top 5 of “I could do without that”.

hmmmm, I’ve got the kindle Fire HD…mainly gets used as a book, but I do use it for browsing too…actually after being used as a book I think it’s pretty good for skype…just the right size for the kids to hold it whilst they do video chats with relatives…..but I do find it a bit restrictive…can only do what Amazon wants you to do and it’s a little buggy with certain web sites…..I like the fact if I want a book, I buy it there and then and can start to read, I like the skype….whether I’d buy one again…perhaps I’d spend a bit more and go for I-pad mini.

Agree fully, the only time I do high 5’s is with the kids where I pull my hand back and tell em there are too slow….to a 4 year old it’s a bit of fun….grown men….I’d have to give someone the “look” if they tried such a thing….

…I don’t even like those silly hand shakes where your fingers are pointing upwards….anyone tries one of those I go in higher with my fingers pointing downwards and bring their hand into the correct grown ups method of shaking hands…

All my bikes have em and they get used, I normally slow up and give it a couple dings with as much warning as possible without trying to give the “get out of my way impression”.

Does my nut in though…..every single time they jump, spin, do a twirl as though I’m bearing down on em at warp factor 5 in a juganaught.

Just got used to it now and give a smile and a thank you.

I pray that one day aliens will arrive, carry out lots of nasty experiments on Jay Rayner and then evaporate his being into a oblivion!!!

The World will be a better place for it, arrogant pillock….

There were a couple there who could at least give a valued opinion on whether the food was cooked well, tasty etc….but the rest sounded like an annoying 5 year old!!

By the way, not sure if anyone’s mentioned it, but if you plan to travel by train, have a look to see if you can get a deal on tickets as a tourist, or if you can get a half card…might save you a few bob.

It’s not cheap, but it easy a lovely country….and great for cycling…

    Can get routes here:

    http://www.veloland.ch/en/cycling-in-switzerland.html

Food is a bit naff and pricey….but beer is okay….and they have some lovely wines and cheeses…

I’d be tempted to do a small tour with bikes and tent.

    Sorry for slight hijack
@ beanum, I’m based in Zurich but will probably have an office install to do in Lausanne in a month or so, depending if I’m down there for a few days, may give you a shout to see if you are about for a beer!

Or, I may take a bike down with me, so see how things are might give you a shout if you fancy it, or if you can recommend any routes.

Thanks for all the info above guys, really really useful.

I actually want something quite aggressive and stiff. I’m still young enough to put up with a few pot hole bumps and I want to be able to put a bit of extra ummph on the peddles and get a bit of response.

I could actually see myself entering a cross race, where as a road race….no….But I do want something that won’t handicap me too much on the steep mountain road climbs.

Two biggest things for me, is can take a bit of a pounding (like to mix road rides with big climbs with forest and dirt tracks), and disk brakes….unlike most roadies ( ) I don’t mind a bit of rain, but the grime and wet really eats up the rims and pads…once they decide to start working…

Off to measure my current bike a bit later to see how the Rose compares.

    Thanks again,
    GL

I’m very glad you’ve planted this idea….it’s a lovely looking bike.

I’m tempted to go for the 3000 as I’ve always gone with Shimano, never had any complaints.

Regarding sizing, did you go for your usual, I’m 1.85 and ride a 56 at the moment, wondering if a 58 will give me a more stretched out position. Actually just found the frame measurements..think I’ll pop downstairs with my tape measure and compare it against my road bike.

Ohhhh, Izzzz got that fuzzy warm feeling!!

Thanks to all, very useful info.

    @GrahamS,

What’s the difference between the 4400 and the 3000….the 4400 is running Shram, the 3000 Shimano??

Any reason why you choose the 4400 over the others?

    Thx

    Nice one Stoner….proper mans car

I was driving along the other day and thought…hmmmm….I need a 110/defender….chuck bikes in the back. Kids can climb all over it, don’t have to worry too much when the winter kicks in….yep…I’m definitely chopping in my current car and buying a landrover…

Spent all day happy and excited…..got in from work and had an investigation….

….obviously this being Switzerland, like everything else….they are silly money…even if you can find a diesel one…..

As above, normally takes a good 2 weeks for the initial pain to subside and just leave the bearable pain. Be careful though, I cracked a few ribs last year and whilst I didn’t take any time off work I did take it very easy. After about 2 weeks I was starting to feel a bit better till one day when driving round a roundabout I heard this sound similar to cracking your knuckles from my ribs followed by the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.
Doctors reckoned that whatever way I turned had put pressure on the damaged ribs and they snapped. It took even longer to get though the initial pain stage 2nd time round.

Oh yes, know this well, I had an off from the road bike about 10 weeks ago, broke four back bones (just the tips…so nothing overly serious…just bloody painful) and came down on my ribs pretty hard too….all pretty sore, but managed to carry on after a bit of rest…about a week later after the off, bent to put some socks on….by Christ I would have preferred a kick in the bollards by someone wearing steel toe capped boots..Doc reckons I’d moved the ribs a bit where they join the back..they must have clicked back in place.

As I said, 10-11 weeks ago now…but still a big achie after a nights sleep or if one of the kids jumps on me whilst we’re mucking around on the floor.

I don’t recommend reading the post by world class accident on what exercise for his fecked ankle and someone replying pogo stick. I was nearly reaching for the red emergency button when I red that in my hospital bed….

I got bored reading the dumb ass comments. Nothing will happen, there will be a lot of crap in the news and it will all blow over with the man on the street getting shifted.

The Cypriots are generally good people, they might get a bit piffed with the government, but they’re will not be raping and pillaging, the country ain’t going to collapse, if they were to drop out of the Euro…ain’t going to happen…if the rest of Europe can’t hold a small economy together like Cyprus…they are screwed….Italy’s debt makes Cyprus look a bit like my credit card bill!

Go, nothing will happen…although actually I’d wait a bit. Sea will still be a bit cool and the weather can be a bit iffy this time of year.
