Also, any recomendations for good blue runs close to Morzine that will be good for a (my wifes) 120m travel bike with 140mm rotors are much appreciated

I am also interested in routes like this if anyone has any good knowledge to pass on?

I have been looking at these too and will be going for Transition lenses but there are about 5 different colours/shades of transitions. Any reccomendations on which one is best for biking in a variety of conditions?

Not quite the same but myself and my girlfriend are heading from Calais to Morzine Via Lagorse at the end of July.

We are going to drive down a bit on the first night and then stay here: http://www.etaphotel.com/frm_fiche_hotel.svlt?code_hotel=5486&code_langue=gb

Depending on how much distance you want to leave yourself the next day it may or may not be useful. Seemed reasonable on price and not too far off the route we will be taking.

Then we will be camping for a week in Lagorse and heading on to Morzine!

We have done the Honister one and had a good time-they do take the pics which you can then buy on a CD afterwards. Nice Crepes in the Visitor Centre too…..

Looks a bit better in these pics but not sure if that is the pre-production colour or what the public will get: http://www.on-one.co.uk/news/products/q/date/2010/05/16/carbon-456-meets-the-7-stanes

Thanks for that guys. 40mpg-I could also get the X4 on bike to work(it was the bike I actually went to look at) but I would probably want to change a few thingas and I dont know if that would be wise on the scheme…

buzz thats for your points-pretty much all of them went through my head.

Size-I am 6ft 1 so probably heading for the large-will try a couple of different stems on it during the demo and see how it feels.

Frame/Geometry-low BB might be a problem I suppose and I actually have limited but just about enough standover clearance on the Large!

Suspension-really impressed with the short road climb I did-more so than any of the other full sussers I have been on.

Forks-I have some 140mm Revs I could put on there…..

Had not really considered the Trek/Kona/gary Fisher so will have a look into them-cheers fellas.

Yeah secondhand would be great-should mention that this bike is for my girlfriend so looking for a 16/17inch frame if poss.

    What size Chakaping?

I think On One will be producing a headset to go specifically with the frame so may be worth hanging on to see what they come up with. Otherwise I am not sure-I have 2 FSA headsets I plan to use. One is standard 1.125 which I can use for the top and the other is a 1.5 to 1.125 reducer I can use on the bottom.

yesterday my bike started making a rattling/tinging noise-sometimes when pedaling and sometimes when freewheeling! Tried really hard but cannot pinpoint where the noise is from!

Sorry no help but I share anyones frustration who has a noisy bike!

I am thinking of getting one. Currently riding a Genesis Alpitude with 140mm Revs-the Carbon 456 could do a similar job with a big weight saving!

Got an Osprey raptor 18 and I think its really good. bladder that doest deform when full is a good job. Good storage room as-well.

nuke was wondering about longer forks etc myself but most of the reviews and info seems to suggest they are for 100mm, I could be wrong though…

Not sure on the red saddle but as long as you like the ride who cares. Been looking at these myself-what size is that?

Will keep my eye out as-well. Try the yellow ads paper when it comes out tomorrow. Maybe also worth keeping an eye on gumtree?

Lots of things have kept me off the bike this year until the last couple of weeks. At the moemnt I average one ride per week of about 1.5/2hours. Don't usually go flat out on those rides either so distance/height is quite low! Did Hamsterly black on Sunday and it killed me!

Aiming to up it now the longer eveings are here with Tuesday & Thursday Evening rides after work for 1 hour and keep up one weekend ride for about 2 hours.

Was fed up with a standard rack destroying the back of my car so I got the Atera Strada 3 Bike and it is fantastic. Probably the best bike accessory I have ever bought. Expensive but I think you get what you pay for.

Thanks for that-will be the red we do if we make it there.

I really struggled for a while to get decent sized shorts but I have found Fox to be well sized for 38inch waist! Possibly worth a shout just to see what you think? Not sure on the model I got though sorry!

I know a few big lads who wear Altura as-well.

Whatever your opinion on him I know a few people who have been inspired to get outdoors because of his show/him. Thats a good thing in my book! Some pretty impressive stuff there GrahamS!

Like scud I have both. I would say if your planning on taking more gear then the larger pocket on the talon is realy useful. The raptor is a great piece of kit-the best hydration system I have ever had. Well thought out and the bladder design is great!

I think either way will work its just a matter of wat will work best for you!

Just got my Osprey Raptor 18 last weekend. Class pack, well worth it IMO!

i think it depends on the model-mine can be locked to the towbar and the bikes can be locked on the rack which gives me peace of mind when I am at service stations etc

edit-no faffing in my opinion. just close the lever and turn the lock and away I go!

Got a tow bar one made by atera. really good-can't see myself using anything else now I have tried it. easy to fit, easy to secure bikes, allows access to boot when tilted, no real effect on mpg.

I have just got some of the altura attacks from Merlin-love them. a really good piece of kit that has really enhanced my enjoyment of riding in the wet! not sure they would be great in summer tho….

I have seen that Whyte that BillyBull is talking about and it is very nice! Good build and light weight-could fit the bill if your used to a light hardtail as-well.

I think the medium would be fine-you can always alter it slightly with different stems/layback posts etc if needed.

100mm forks will be fine as-well. I previously had a soul and ran with 100-130mm forks and no matter what setting they were at it still performed well!

    Nice bikes, go for it.
