Pal in that weight category is in the Cube E Stereo 160 with Fox 36s etc and loves it.

I’m half a stone shy of the qualifying weight but I’d say pay close attention to tyres. Tough ebike specific, double down or DH casings required!

You’re tall too I think? Mondraker Level or eCrafty are quite big. Dunno how they ride… new YT looks good.

@chakaping – is that new hand plenty tough aye? The DD casing is working well for me and I don’t really wanna go back to worrying about the rear tyre….

Always liked the look of the Sentinel but given my Smuggler was heavy I’d not imagine a light Sentinel build… especially with the NX groupset which is fairly heavy. AFAIK Maxxis make the Specialized tyres too so as others mentioned have a play with pressures. But the main thing is that it sounds as if you like the bike so that is great news!

If anyone wants an actual set of 29er 170mm Yaris (or 160mm Lyrics) give me a shout…

When are you doing the demo @Sir HC? Would be interesting to hear the comparison with the Megatower…

Shameless plug: Got some BNIB callipers here with 4 sets of pads that I want to sell…

few mates use them, say they are good.

No Alloy version of the Rallon @andreasrhoen

Strive gets good reviews on certain sites but the ‘base’ model CF 5.0 is the most compatible with the Sentry Pro on price and only comes with NX Eagle, Guide T Brakes and Iridium dropper Vs the Sentry with GX Eagle, Codes and Reverb 170mm dropper… I guess it has a carbon frame but its still within 500g of the Calibre weight too.

Radon Swoop definitely looks like a value comparison though.

I think the Calibre should climb OK – sure it’ll not be a featherweight rocketship but steepish seat angle should help a wee bit.

What Geometron do you have? A G13 is everything you’re looking for surely?

@doomanic my current bike is 510mm reach, 62* HA as far as I recall. I’m not expecting to equal that on an e-bike as no one seems to be in that ballpark but looking to see what the most LLS option might be…

    @singlespeedstu
what is wrong with the Shimano motor? I was led to believe it was well regarded?

Current choices seem to be Mondraker, Scott E-Genius or the Vitus but I’d prefer the Vitus to be longer….

Got a set of the callipers here that I was going to sell but now contemplating building them up but I’ma bit clueless on the different levers and hose compatibility…

Any reason these wont work: https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/shimano-hydraulic-disc-brake-lever-deore/136938236/p?utm_source=google_products&utm_medium=merchant&id_producte=7512824&country=uk&gclid=CjwKCAjwvbLkBRBbEiwAChbckZAeqhbY5lzEpbA8VN310aFST2j_noBu4g7k7AhtRdR5lKBVxXVrkBoCfKMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

The Atera E-Bike or Thule VeloSpace XT seem to be the best bets for long bikes.

Lots of things to like about it but standover seems tall on them compared to some others which is an issue for me tbh…

@Rik any reason you want to go down to 110/112mm travel? The G13 at 130mm is not a million miles away and has the head angle right about where you’d end up with the -2* Angleset in the Saturn?

Also came here to mention the Velospace XT – as hatter says it is designed for longer wider bikes than most racks.

Thanks everyone – have some ordered now so hopefully have them fitted early in the week. Agree a stealth stem would be a good idea too….

I’m sure they are all probably reserved/spoken for by the shops but did lots of customers know these were coming out and reserve them? I thought CRC or the like would get some for sure and the LBS’s have all been less than helpful so far….

What is the rear end stiffness like on these, particularly the Murmur? I’m a big lump and I have a feeling these will be one of the more flexible rear ends?

    groundskeeperwilly

I know this is frowned on but I think i could sell you a Chromag BZA Carbon (35mm rise IIRC) or Renthal (40mm Rise)….

Sometimes a rider and bike just don’t gel and if that’s the case no harm in making a change!

I’ve not ridden the Commencal but as you say it looks a lot shorter than either the Bird or Sentinel so maybe not the best direct comparison.

The Sentinel gets great reviews for descending so would seem like the obvious choice if that is your complete shortlist.

I have a G13 (very long) and a Rallon (shorter, more nimble) and I preferred them both to the Bird AM9 I demoed.

Had 2 ‘Trail’ bikes on it, no problems at all.

If the bars are mega wide it might mean you don’t get the full 90* tilt though but worked OK for the bikes I had on over the festive period.

Just about to buy 2 of these callipers to replace XT8000 that have given up… from everything I have read they will match OK with the M8000 lever/hose and hopefully plenty of power!

Is these a ‘best’ time or ‘worst’ time to visit from weather / riding opportunities point of view or is it pretty much an all year round option?

Thanks @Tracey – good to know that there is genuinely more room as that one of the main attractions! I’ll actually be using mine of the back of a camper van as only 1 bike fits inside if people want to be inside too….

Thanks guys. One of the big attractions of the XT is that apparently it’s ‘better’ for longer wheelbase and wider modern bikes and ebikes- I’ve found other racks starting to be in the short/narrow category!

If you need/want something custom might be worth having a look at straigtcut design based in Edinburgh. Pretty sure his stuff ticks the boxes.
