Looks like a good spot-when we visited Norway we saw so many places that looked like they would be just like that!

We have a 13 week old lab puppy. He is good during the day but most nights he has a pee in the house!

He obviously comes to the door looking for us to let him outside to go which I guess shows some sign of his training but as we’re not there he goes on the paper.

He has had several dry nights which are always really pleasing and hopefully he will progress to all dry nights after a little more time. Occasionally he still leaves a messy present too but that is rare now.

We didn’t go down the crate option and luckily he has done minimal chewing!

As an aside (sorry OP) does everyone stay at home with their puppies during the day? I have been at home but am now in a new job where I will have to be away at times-anyone else in the same boat?

My brother had one running 100mm forks and Singlespeed. Was very light and seemed strong too. Obviously they can take longer forks too and gears so can be pretty much any style bike you want.

I found the same problem when I was looking at getting a new bike and ruled out the trance because of it….

If the 800 is quite difficult to use does anyone have a suggestion for a similar user friendly piece of kit?

Steerer options seem to have an influence-I remember CRC doing Fox 140 dirt cheap last year but they had 1.5 steerers….
what are you after- 1 1/8, 1.5, tapered?

That looks nice and I would be tempted if there was a tad more standover….

NFU usually do a good deal and they are more used to vans etc than some other companies but I know a few people have had issues depending on location etc. Great if you can get it though.

Not sure-size may play a role too as an xl or xs would be in less demand…

6ft2 on a large here (supplied by the bike chain….) Great fit for me.

    Where are you at?

Yeah looked at Tevas too but prefer the look of the Vans. Both Tevas and Gravels seem quite hard to get at the minute….

Loads of Good 160mm bikes about that you could get built up for the purpose but I think Fabien Barel rides a few Alp based events and used his Mondraker Foxy so maybe it could cope with a few burler parts if you were just doing one trip?

Might save you a few £££ and you keep a bike that as you say suits most of your riding.

That looks 1st class! Is it a 2011 or 2012 model year frame? Maxle or qr at the back?

a bit late to the party here but have to say that my ASR5 has held up well to some rough stuff when I have actually been able to ride it this year. Not that I am riding crazy stuff but I am quite clumsy and weigh in at 100kg or there abouts….

For one bike there should be no problems at all. Hope you get good use out of it.

As MadBill says if you are planning to carry a few bikes you need to work out how to thread the holding arms through the various frames. I would think clamping it below the shock mount would be steady enough though.

Used a strada with bikes ranging from 22inch to 15inch and never had a problem. There is quite a big range of adjustment for the wheel supports.

I ordered a pair of the Madison Tempests last night after doing a wee bit of research on this-I think they are worth a try considering that the Alp-X’s are about 3times the price. I find the Gore’s a wee bit skinny in the leg too sop hopefully the Madison’s will size up bigger….

I have had Altura Attacks before which were good as-well.

A few bad games don’t ruin a season-look at Everton last year (or maybe the year before) They were bottom 3 at Christmas and ended up 7th?
Might be a wee bit out with numbers but really there is enough quality in the Gunners team to have a good season again. Maybe they can’t quite match the Manchester clubs but they are still above the majority of the PL.

I had Deore until recently and they were great brakes-I think they would be worth the investment over the Avids. You can get a very nice set of brakes for £100-150 if you go second hand too but I guess it all depends on personal preference of new vs used?

Don’t want to be super negative on here but I would say it’s a great place and there is undoubtably some good riding but it’s not for everyone.

We went last year and were a little disappointed really-we asked a lot of folk for advice and everyone said just relax its cool-you can ride it all on a HT etc, something for everyone etc but what they deemed rideable or easy was pushing the limit for others and ourselves. There were ‘easy’ routes which underwhelmed with a lot of fireroad or even road descending and other ‘easy’ routes which had to be walked!. The riders we found were also mainly male, full on Dh style-a little intimidating if your already a little nervous about the trails and at times their attitude was poor. My girlfriend didn’t enjoy it at all unfortunately.

I would say you need to consider the bike she will be on-is it the ideal tool for the sort of riding you plan on doing? Is it worth getting a few days guided rides where someone with local knowledge can show you exactly what you/she likes? And the generous offers above from STWers who could show you a few nice runs would be well worth taking up.

We had quite a lot of fun doing non-cycling things too!

If you want any more info on what we found good/bad/helpful etc just drop me a mail….

I had 1×10 with a 32t ring at the front and found that I couldn’t manage all the climbs I would have liked to do so went back to 2×10.

To run 1×10 I would probaly need something like a 24/26t on the front…….I am not very fit though!
