I saw the ex demo deals on eBay too. Anyone got any experience of the seller?

Not sure of the exact details but the new dartmoor primal 29 might work. Kingdom bikes had a prototype brigante 29er going round about this time last year that had most/all those criteria. http://www.kingdombike.com/TheKingdom/?p=1230

Sorry to plug but I have a set of 130mm Revs, Tapered Steerer and 20mm Axle very lightly used if they’d be of any interest.

Was it a Stumpy Evo 29 uselesshippy? How do the yeti and it compare?

Should be selling by end of January according to Brant the boss

Codeine29 well into production. We are getting final production samples in a few weeks just to check everything is to tolerance.

I think end of January is feasible

Great-any teasers on price or potential build kits, weights etc?

I’m glad they started making the 19″ size. If they had made one a few years ago I’d have one now…

I’ve had a Yeti and an Ibis which I’d consider boutique. They were great, fast, high quality bikes.

I have also had a few Treks that really aren’t as ‘high end’ including my current bike. I think I’m having more fun on it than I had on the others…That might be because it fits me better or that its a 29er but thats a whole other thread! I never found any magic feel in the more expensive bikes but of course they were good!

Like you I think the Canyons are amazing value but for me the geometry just isn’t right on paper and as I can’t see one in the flesh they are out. The Rockys look amazing in person-the one I went to see today was really impressive!

Are Yeti, Santa Cruz or any other ’boutique’ brand worth the extra over a Canyon, YT, On One, Boardman?

The Rockys look like really well sorted bikes and are on my radar for my next bike but I see amazing value in some Canyons etc.

So much will come down to personal factors-Can you wait till March/April/May for a 2014 canyon? Do you prefer to go to LBS for support? Does bike X fit you better than bike y?

Anyone tried to order a works components chainring there-I can’t see a way of selecting what size is required?

I run a 28t front ring. If you are fairly happy with the 24 stick with it. I’ve never had anyone running 32/33/34/36 front chain rings outrun me down a trail but a few have been envious on the way up…

Yeah I do run a type 2 mech but have found on occasion that the chain guide has saved a few drops. Also the guide I run has a neat little semi-bash type thing to protect the chainring too which I like.

Thanks r53. Any idea how much it costs or if it is ready to buy-don’t see that info anywhere…

r53 or others-does the oneten29 have ISCG tabs or not? I read in a couple of reviews that it has but all the specs and pictures suggest not…

I hope so as I just bought new arch ex rims and schwalbe tyres!

Mbnut-the reports about hub failure etc made me decide against the crc havens and go for hope hoops!

Recycler-I did it when I had my ASR5 and it was brilliant! Stiffened up the back end and I felt al lot happier with the bike after doing it. Cost me about the same and I was happy with the outlay for what I thought was an improvement.

    1) YES as far as I know you can use the spider on X9 cranks…(I have a spider and 32t Chainring for sale BTW)
    2) I have no idea-wondered that myself!
    3) No chainsuck at all on any of the bikes i have ridden or ridden with but that may not be representative of the wider community use…

I’m around the 17stone mark too and have had that feeling of rear end flex in a few bikes. One I cured it by going to a Maxle upgrade and stronger wheels but on others it couldn’t be helped and I ended up selling. Sorry-might not be what you want to hear!

MRP AMg will do 28-32t if you order the correct one. ISCG or BB mount available. I have one and it is great.

svalgis-I’m using or have previously SRAM X9, XO and XX1 cranks to run 28t MRP Bling Rings and SLX with 28t granny. I think the SRAM/spiderless works really well (better than a 28t granny) as the chain line is great. I also really like the spiderless system-just makes sense to me.

X9 cranks can be picked up cheap enough if you go second hand. I think X9 with Bling ring is the best of the options I have used TBH.

I have 2 of the X9 Type 2/Clutch mechs. No Chain slap at all-working faultlessly in ice, snow, mud etc. Sounds like something is badly wrong with yours!
