    What brakes?

Renton sounds like you need to sell them both and get something else that has the bounce of the codeine and longer length of the whyte.

Silly question but I’m assuming their sizes listed are UK sizes not US?

Gotama – did you always feel other bikes were too small or were you happy enough before and then the G13 just opened your eyes?

I’m 6ft2, short legs and long torso/arms and generally I’ve been happy enough on XL or even Larges but seen numerous folk comment about how they had their eyes opened by some of the newer really long bikes.

Why would Bird make a fuss over the launch of GX eagle? Can understand first look articles on STW/BikeRadar/PinkBike but surely Bird wouldn’t be any more excited to stock it than say Cotic, CRC or Wiggle or most of the shops that’ll be selling it?

Also interested to see what it is. 29er 140/150 travel seems to be what most are hoping for!

Thanks for the info – hype seems to be building around the bike. Seen a few web articles, something in a mag too so must be close to ready.

Try this: seat post 1cm lower, saddle 1 cm back, stem at top of steerer (all spacers underneath).

I reckon I look just the same on my bike though…..

I’ll add to your bump Onzadog. i’m a big heavy clumsy brute and think DD would be good for me, certainly on the rear so keen to hear feedback.

I was just going to say what dangeourbrain did regarding no leak warranty – thought it was only 5 years though but still!

Ended up making it Golspie today and think I pretty much covered all the blue, red and black routes.

Had a bit of a nightmare from lactic ladder onwards unfortunately as the weather turned really nasty slogging up the final fireroad at the top, then got 2 punctures early on the descent and after that rear brake failed so I was really tip toeing down for a while.

I think for me personally the red grade route and on up to one of the black shortcuts is ideal if I were passing again. Nice climb up that’s not a boring fireroad slog and some swoopy single track descending with a few features thrown in.

I’ll definitely be back next chance I get!

Cheers all, hopefully be able to squeeze it in.

Is the trail well signed e.g. red/black/blue?

If it were me and I was looking for a proper enduro bike then the Radon Swoop would probably be my choice….

Renton – if you’re not happy with it and have some money get a full suss. After all its about having fun and enjoying the bike and not much else….

I like a good high stack so I guess, in theory, usually, I should always go for a bike with longer reach as my high stack will bring that down….

    Yeah pretty disappointing!

I gave the second and third sets a sanding and it didn’t help. The braking material also wore away really quickly…

I’ve had contaminated & glazed pads before which worked Ok after a sand or a good rotor clean but this doesn’t seem like the same thing.

I’d be surprised if it is that with 3 sets of pads in a row TBH. Maybe if I’d been going wild with WD40 but that’s not likely!

Sorry it’s probably something thats 100 times easier to see/feel in reality than explain on here but judging by the comments the performance hasn’t been great for others either.

Performance decreased to the point that they are next to useless. They were good for a spell in the middle of their use but took a while to get to that stage and then dropped off a cliff after (same with each set)

Immediately remedied by replacing with other pads.

In my defence tj the reason I bough SuperStar Kevlar was because of good feedback on here – they were ace and I got thousands of miles from them just like you do with your Hope’s.

Saw a few folk posting that the Race Matrix pads were great but they’ve turned out very poorly for me. Given they have a decent reputation, despite the fact they are cheap in comparison to some others I think their performance was sub standard. Maybe the kevlar would be better.

Or maybe Hope or Shimano would be better still but it’s great to hear a variety of opinions.

    poah – I’m Irish….

At least it’s not just me then!

As for price – Superstar kevlar were as good for me as anything at twice the price so I was kinda hoping that there were other options out there at less than top dollar.

Looks like I am going to give EBC and Rahox a try next. Not sure which Rahox pad matches Zee brakes?

    Hmmm….

I’ve just been doing some local loops here in Aberdeenshire. Nothing majorly steep, no major brake dragging and until today it’s been dry for a few weeks so no terrible conditions.

There is a shorter lever that you can buy for them. I think the MT7 yellow/Danny Mc Edition come with the 1 finger lever as standard.

They also have a new brake called the MT Trail Sport coming out that is suppose dot be ‘budget’ but that also has the 1 finger lever. I’m very interested in them…

Northwind and HobNob I’d be interested to hear the spec/set up of your Trek’s as I’m looking at both options right now….

If only there were some good deals on 29er forks too! Seems like 27.5 is where the bargains are!
