Thanks for advice.  Perhaps mis-led the thread.  Want to be able to get out there on an decent XC ride that isn’t stop start over unrideable bog / bolder fields and has significant grin factor.  May also look at Torridon options.

Thanks guys. Going on a Bronson so should be fine for uplift and a bit of xc. Last time I did BPW was on. capra though. Don’t think I will miss the extra travel. Like the sound of the gap and Cwmcarn. Thanks for the suggestions.

Starting the sprint at 8.10. Driving there in the morning as well. Ouch…

^seconf that.. measurements are the same as mine. I got a replacement DT Swiss one from CRC. Maybe able to get in a Local BS. Would say you could have this one but if you need it for the weekend it’s no use unless you live in Harrogate…

I will post a pic of the axle needed in an hour or so. I had my YT capra stolen a few weeks ago from my car but the clever dicks forgot the axle..still in the back of the car..

Olive green SC Bronson – just been told it will be built on Tuesday. 6 weeks wait for it and all this talk of redundant 650b has been confusing..

The new Dakine packs are great. Comfortable with really nice magnetic tube clip. Also keeps back pack away from back so less sweaty. It replaced a stolen Evoc black line which was great but the top handle used to rub on my neck.

Depends what you are into but the there and back ride to the top of ingleborough is good fun and on the doorstep.

Agreed Daern loads in the area but everything involves getting in the car first. Miss being able to ride fun trails straight from my door. Tour of nidderdale will be next ride once the weather improves a bit…

All this talk is making me jealous. Before moving up near Harrogate a few years ago I lived right opposite the Hollies so out the door, across the road and straight into the Meanwood valley trail. Miles and miles of off road routes with zero tarmac. Thought there would be more up in North Yorkshire but no decent BWs or trails…

I was swayed towards the Bergtec but it’s a very short axle – any issues with shoes rubbing on frame?

Hope less…. pedals if you ask me. Poor grip with 5.10s and easy to take a chunk out of them with a pedal strike. Look good but not worth the money. I’m buying some more vaults as plenty of offers on them at the moment and reliable grip.

Good shout in the BB nobeers

Chakaping – 1 month after I bought my first Bronson the new Nomad was released. Tried it and loved it but that was a different bike to the new model. Haven’t been able to demo the new Nomad as my LBS hasn’t got them in stock yet. Same with the HTLT. bit silly not to wait but I have a load of events coming up and as my bike was stolen I just on my hardtail = not ideal. Would be waiting until Oct for the HT or Nomad.

Good to know thanks Pansy but already tried the Bronson it is the Nomad and HT I haven’t demoed..

Bronson is on order and arrives in about 4 weeks so just wanted confirmation that I was right mainly not to have considered the Nomad for U.K. Riding etc..

Thanks for the input guys. Concensus is the Bronson which is what I wanted to hear actually. Would consider the Hightower LT but unable to demo and it will be a long wait. Also not sure about the whole 29 thing.

Agree with nobeerinthefridge in that I also felt I was riding on the YT. Perhaps due to the fact it was too short even for a large.

I am 6.1 and threw my leg over the XL which felt right even though I am in the border between sizes.

Now just need to get my head around having an olive green bike – looks mint in the flesh but hard to be a tart and match your riding clobber to it…

I work for a medical device company and so have a kit containing wound dressings, surgical glue and haemostats to stop bleeding. Never had to use it thankfully. Spare inner tube can be used as a
Sling – had to use that before for broken collar bone.

I had a call from the police as they thought it might be mine but unfortunately the serial numbers don’t match. Apparantelty it is a medium frame if that helps. Looks like they have Definately changed over the wheels and pedals. Who in there right mind would have what look like white Welgos on this bike.

Therag good heads up. Is the cafell trail similar and still worth heading to or do we divert and go to FOD?

Looks like Cwmcarn is the one. Nickjb – taking my Capra which should do the job.

If you are doing the ard rock then lee quarry would be a good warm up. Personally I happily drive over an hour regularily to mess around there. You can session lots of it or do multiple laps. The final decent from the cattle grid (you will know when you are there) is worth sessioning aswell of you like a bit of airtime.

Edward2000 who cares if they are common. At the end of the day we buy bikes to ride. The Capras ride incredibly well and suit a lot of people. I’d understand your point if we were a group of women turning up at a wedding in the same dress but were not…..

I am about 10 rides in on the new pro race. I am 6ft bang on and have the large. IMO it is too short in the TT but only just. Once you have it set up it does ride incredibly well. For the price and quality I have no regrets what so ever. If you don’t get on with it once you have ordered, sell the frame, buy a second hand nomad frame and swap the kit over. That was always my fall back option but I won’t be going there..

Personally I am a fan of the Bird zero. Spec is top notch for the price. It climbs well and descends even better. Also looks pretty good aswell.

Check out the Tour of Niddedale. Great riding especially know it’s dry. I have just moved to Harrogate so just down the A59 and am in the same boat of finding decent routes. Thankfully my folks live in the lakes so no shortage of rides when I head back to visit. Stainburn is also fantastic but not a full day out..

Great feed an Iainc. I have just ordered the enduro but will cancel for the trail. Have a black and yellow bike so the trail will match which is clearly incredibly important.

I’m bang on 6ft and have a large carbon capra. IMO it needs to be bigger. My last bike was an SC Bronson C XL but some **** Knicked it. It rides well in general but I feel a bit squashed climbing and for some reason a bit front heavy / nervous going over jumps and drops with it. That said, when I do, it lands like a cat and skips over rough ground incredibly well. I am only about 10 rides in with it though and sure I will find my feet with it. For the money it is great but if they had an XL available I am sure it would be even better.

Look forward to seeing which gets your vote. Going to order one myself but don’t want it too bulky so may go enduro. Sounds cooler too and will probably make me ride better..

I was lucky then. Placed my order the evening they released the 2015 bikes. Got it a few weeks later. Wouldn’t have bothered if I had to wait until August. Far to impatient. Just been reading a review about the Meta in what mountain bike – gets fantastic review…

My mate had the mega am. While it was a great bike, it rattled itself to destruction when we were in Morzine last year. It’s also made of pig iron so, while a great bike, he found it a slog back in the UK.

Have you considered a YT Capra. I have just changed over from a SC Bronson to one and love it (even though it is a bit small for me). They have just released the Alu version which has unbeatable specs and prices. Brilliant pointed downhill and climb almost aswell as my Bronson and hardtail.

Looks good thanks. Mate I am heading there with has also found some lodges that sound good for bikers. Lock up, jet wash etc. still no elusive hot tub though……

Has anyone tried the enduro vs the trial. Wanting to know I the extra 4l capacity is worth it or does it become too bulky..

Thanks guys. Some good suggestions. Tour of Nidderdale is a great idea. Not been there since i moved from Leeds. Just down the road aswell. Shame there are all of those gates on the descend to Ramsgill though…

Ditto. Read the article and want to replace my camelback. My mate has the enduro black line but think it is a bit small to use as a day pack.

I did mine last summer in the Alps. On the pas porte du soliel miles from where we were staying in morzine so had no option to ride on without shifting. The doctor there have me a small thumb brace that Velcros around your hand and wrist. Just about fitted under a glove (with thumb cut out). Enabled me to carry on riding for the rest of the week and the splint enabled me to change gear without too much trouble. Back in the UK turned out I had broken and torn a tendon. Healed eventually but a year on I still have an enlarged thumb knuckle and reduced movement.

The croozer has a sprung hitch mount type thing so if the bike falls it remains upright and I have tested this out…. The suspension is as suggested – a polymer block. It does however work very effectively. Each seat is also like a hammock so pretty easy going on the cargo …

    grobin13

I have the croozer 2 and really rate it. Gets through most gates and down most single track with practice. We only have one child at the moment (2 years old) and he has been in it since he was 1. We have another due soon and they will go in the cradle that goes with the croozer. The advantage to me is the suspension system and the space you get. His push along can also go in the boot compartment..

For what it’s worth I have just bought a Zero 1 with the Revs. The money you save covers the cost of the stealth dropper. First ride out was on the black at Hamsterley and I had more fun than on my SC Bronson (that had pikes)..
