    Thanks ART.
I won’t ignore you, you appear to know much more than I.

I just seem to remember being told that the lenders like to rake back most of the interest in the early days. I must have not quite grasped that properly.

    Thank you.

I understood the repayment over a shorter time bit, but it still didn’t totally make sense (i.e. why in that case wouldn’t you just take the original mortgage out for that shorter amount of time and skip all that extra interest that you have paid?)

I’m glad I’m not the only one that wants to know about this!

    Staffie x lab owner here.

I’m pretty sure I’d be able to pull her off and restrain her.
I guess the issue is that a child would not be able to.

Having said that, I’d be willing to put my life on the fact that my dog would never harm a child.

Is there any reason why you wouldn’t want one that takes pods and grinds?

I’m thinking of getting one of the delonghi cappucino machines, and it says you can use pods in it.

oooh, inkscape looks interesting. Quite an appealing price too!
    Do you use it?

mW it is just for a hobby, hence not wanting to spend loads on illustrator and only use 5% of the functionality. Thanks for the info.

    Thanks guys.

mf, I assume that illustrator is THE package then…

Hmmm, decisions. Just gotta try and find a way to justify the £.

North of Cambridge is cheaper, south is more exclusive.

Don’t be afraid to look at villages along the new guided busway, west of Cambridge, and bear in mind that should you want to drive to Cambridge to work, there are lots of Park and Rides.

Oh, and there are cycle routes into town from miles out, in pretty much all directions.

It’s a nice place, but there’s not much in the way of singletrack.

Surely kids everywhere are on school holidays and want free stuff. They’ve seen other kids on telly getting away with it, and are probably even a bit jealous of them.
Could boil over pretty much anywhere if you ask me.

Out of interest, what is the analytical technique?
    (Thin Layer Chramatography?!)

0.3% seems quite high for a limit of quantitation.

    richc sounds lovely, thanks.

    Will give it a whirl.
Part of me hopes she doesn’t like it though, if it’s that horrible to make!

richc I’ve not tried liver cakes, but I’ve tried other foods and am yet to find something she prefers over her tennis ball, let alone another dog! I’m curious to see what dog crack does to her though. Can you buy them rather than make them?

My dog (lab/staff x) is superbly obedient, with great recall at all times except when there are other fun-looking dogs around. She’ll see another dog and run straight at them, no matter how much you try and call her back. She’s from a rescue, so was already “trained.” This is the one bad habit we’ve not been able to train her out of though.

She does it much less if she has a ball with her, especially if you’re playing ball with her. Might be worth a try. I know it’s not ideal, but the fact that she is seeing other dogs and choosing to ignore them (for the ball) helps her to be a bit less prone to leg it at other times.

Maybe you could keep yours on a lead in the park for a while, to sort of desensitise her to all the excitement? This has also helped a bit with mine.

Edit: beaten to most of my points whilst writing ^^^

The Mrs got me a gift voucher for these guys, and I booked a slot with them etc. It got to the date though, and (because they are so far away) I didn’t bother.

Not much help I know, but at no point did I suspect they weren’t legit.

Do it, I say. And let me know what I missed out on!

Try some things that you think you don’t want to do / aren’t into (i.e. the stuff up there ^^)

Maybe you’ve been saying no to all these things for all this time and that is why you think your life’s been a bit dull.

Edit: have you watched “yes man”?

I lost my dad this time last year. Fairly suddenly too.

Not been able to read all of this thread, as I’m at work and don’t want to be blubbing at my desk.

I don’t think things will ever go back to the way they were before, but not having him around is starting to feel “normal” if you get what I mean.

Time heals. Just more slowly in some cases.

    All the best mate.

Grizla – I think that may be why they reccomend at least 2 executors

    Fair point.

Something else that struck me as odd, is that if the executor (or person charged with finding a will) stands to gain more form probate than from the will, they could just “not find” it.

I think the idea is that you make a will and then tell executors where it is held.

    Google “Probate law.”

is there a central registry somewhere

There should be, but I don’t think there is (in England anyway). I went through all this last year when my dad died. My sister and I were convinced that he would have left a will, but we couldn’t track it down anywhere. Much heartache caused.

Aleins would have to be fairly intelligent to be able to visit Earth from far off galaxies. As such, I doubt they’d be particularly interested in Religion.

Edit: that was in no way meant to disagree with you Woody!

Top Gear is contrived and scripted.

Producer to Clarkson: Jez, give us some anti cyclist wallop.

Producer to Hammond: Richard, balance the argument out in your pathetically charming way.

Producer thinks: That’ll cause a bit controversy, but everyone will keep their jobs.

    Don’t get sucked in.

I’ve had them. They are pretty poor (expensive and ineffective.)

Have a good read up on the best way to use them.

I saw a couple of waxwings in my folks’ garden when i was a teenager. Saw another pair a couple of winters back on the [cough] golf course. The most beautiful birds in my book.

Had a GS woodpecker on my nuts when I woke up this morning.

    (giggedy)

    geoffj, what’s that thrush?

    (giggedy)(no, seriously, what is it?)
