Spain has a lot more eagles than the UK.
Booted Eagles all over the place last time I was there (Andalucia.)

The Grand Massif is good, I’ve been there a few times.

I would say Les Carroz would be a good bet. A return transfer from Geneva would be cheaper than a hire car and once there you wouldn’t need a car. You perhaps won’t be walking distance from the lifts, but the ski buses are good.

You can ski out to Flaine, Samoens and Morillon too.

I think the issue here is that for most people it is just about riding bikes, not about looking good. If you were new to the sport and asking on here for riding tips, rather that style (!) tips you would have had a lot more joy.

That said, you do come across as a troll for the fact that you appear to be asking questions that are polar opposite to a lot of people’s point of view, and will almost certainly prompt a (negative) reaction. As such, I’m sure that many (including myself to a degree) won’t believe that you are actually for real.

    Hope that helps.

I’ve often thought about going down to Royston bmx track (on mtb though, don’t have a bmx.) But always been put off at the thought of embarrassing myself in front of all the rad kids.

    I might have a look one day…

I’m sure it would have otherwise flown into a window or been killed by a domestic cat, like the hundreds of thousands of birds that meet that fate each year.

Might still be hung up in the pipes in the house.

I’d perhaps be trying to think of a way of catching it at the inspection chamber and then flushing everything through.

    It’s a long shot though.

I’d say it’s made it through the trap as water was running.

Worth having the trap out anyway. Fingers crossed.

IIRC those Hep2O traps have a diaphragm just for stopping smells coming up. Edit: Think whooppie cushion.

It should have stopped the ring, if there’s not been much wather through it afterwards.

Reminds me of the John Lewis Christmas ones.

We’re due in a couple of weeks.

We got everything sorted quite early, by getting a bit here and a bit there. Didn’t get anything till after the 20 weeks scan mind.

Seems we’ve just been sitting around and looking at it all for ages now though…

is twitter primarily full stupid people whining and blurting their every vapid thought into the ether like I imagine…

I assume they tend to blurt to each other. You don’t get to see anyone that you don’t choose to see.

There’s a fair amount of good bike content on there, and some intelligent people too. Ed-O and Jedi for example.

    I’ve done the caustic method.

Fixed frame upside down and squirted it through bottle cage braze ons with a syringe, left BB etc installed.

It’s a long process, you’ll need to change the solution a few times. It’ll perhaps make a mess of your paint too. In hindsight I don’t know whether or not it was preferable to slicing it from inside with a hacksaw blade.

Edit: Also, concentrated Sodium Hydroxide isn’t nice stuff.

I’d say don’t knock it until you’ve tried it a few times.
Took me a good few rides to remember that I could now drop my seat.

I always fancied one, but couldn’t justify it. Had a rush of blood one day though, and ordered one. I’m glad I did now, I use it more than I ever thought I would. And like others, I rode for years without one.

I think the issue is that it is just a seatpost. If it was something with a bit more substance, but that had the same effect, it might be easier to justify.

A guy I ride with uses a bell with everyone he comes up to, just so they’re not startled. I keep meaning to get one myself.

Kind of feels like you’re asking them to get out of your way though, which is not (always) the intention.

    Thanks for the replies.

I do understand that a 60lb bike might be tough to ride, probably more so than beight 2 stone overweight, so I guess I have an answer.

BTW this isn’t a thinly veiled “I need to lose weight” plee. My ~210lb is fairly lightly spread over 6’5″ of body.

    Grizla

I guess that I’m thinking in terms of overall percentage, a 2lb reduction in bike weight is still next to nothing.

I do kinb of get the maneouvrability thing though, and if you say can notice the difference I guess I really am missing something.

    lol @tomthumb.

that break has ruined snooker, perfection has been achieved no where to go now.

I agree. It’s a rare thing in a world where everything is getting bigger, better and faster.

I spent a lot of my childhood wondering what a dance settee was and where to could get one
    As in –
“Dance, dance wherever you may be
For I am the lord of the dance settee”

I never thought I’d hear someone say that … !

Me too – wondered all the way through school …

I thought I was the only one!

Ply can be a bit soft, might dent easily if bashed with toys etc.
MDF might be a bit harder.

I get annoyed with people that use “I” every time they describe something that they did with someone else, just so they don’t sound common. Even the times when they should be using “me”.

e.g. “Jedi showed my freind and I how to ride a bike.”

Worse still “Jedi moved my freind and I’s brake levers.”

    City cycle centre?

I’m not sure if it’s the one you are thinking of, but it is a bike shop in Ely.

I’ve never been in there mind.

    Thanks guys, great advice.

I use sodium hydroxide a lot (I’m a chemist) so am fairly comfortable with the risks/precautions. Was more interested in how to go about it.

I did spend an hour or so cutting a slit with a hacksaw blade, but lost patience.
I had started to cut into the frame too.

Perhaps I’ll give that another go though…

    Thanks again.

I made some nettle beer and a couple of wines last year, as a bit of a play at home brewing. The nettle beer and one of the wines were nice.

I’m considering skipping the kit stage and going straight to all grain for some proper beers.

Weissbier or abbey style I reckon.

The A14 isn’t the most jam resistant road in the country, you might get lucky but you might also meet traffic at that time of day.

    The M11’s nice though.

Stansted can take a while to get through, it’s pretty big and some (blue and orange) airlines stop miles from the terminal. Passport control can sometimes involve a 15 minute wait too. Baggage can take another 15 minutes.

I’d suggest that you stay at your pub and get her to call you when she’s at passport control. then arrange to meet her in the express drop off bit (near the short stay car park.) Otherwise it’s gonna cost a few £ for you to pick her up. Even the express drop off was £2 last time I was there.

    Hope that helps.

Mine has seen more towpath miles than anything else since I got it.
I’ve not wanted to ride anything else though.

Maybe in the “summer” when the trails are “dry and quick” I’ll prefer something a bit more agile.

    Fatty’s great for cruising though.

The only downside (for me) is all the attention it draws.

If you’re drilling concrete (floor, lintel etc) you’ll want to spend a little extra on decent bits.

Cheap ones will most likely not do the job.

Pied wagtails are black and white, and you won’t see them in trees or bushes. They spend most of the time on the floor or perched on buildings.

As said, they are a fair bit bigger than long tailed tits.

    That’s a grey wagtail ^

Sounds a bit messy, all the wires and splitter on the outside of the house.

I’d perhaps be tempted to give the bedroom its own aerial, in the loft.
