KoB, late to the party I know butā€¦.

I am have done the 11 day Easter break and am heading north. Very loose plan is Dalbeattie on the 23rd. Fort Bill 24th/25th. Skye 26th/27th/28th. My only real definite is that I must be in Manchester on the 30th for a birthday party. Other than that I am pretty flexible.

Starts 9am. Guessing at 30-ish minute laps so our prospective 4th team member would be on stage at 10:30 ish.

    Any good to you?

It was Ā£1150 and the coil and top out spring bits and pieces to convert the fork were out of my own spares.

The Trail Shot I am riding is spot on in this category.

I have owned an Evil, and back in the day a Band Wagon ā€“ and I loved them both. Those 2 bikes were both more biased to certain aspects of "hardcore trail bike" riding, the Trail Shot is the best all round and most usable bike I have ridden. It has done all the loops at Afan with me, and I have enjoyed every minute. It has been to several BMX tracks and pump tracks and I have has handled faultlessly (although I did sort of wish I still had my Evil DOC). My bike differs from the standard one in that I have a a coil in the fork, just as all forks should have šŸ™‚

The links below have a bike geometry section near the bottom.
Effective and actual top tubes and stand overs are shown on there.
    I know a 6ā€² rider on a 19.5ā€³ and a 6ā€² 1 1/2ā€³ rider also on a 19.5ā€³

    SIX Ali / RXC geometry

The internet is a great marketing tool, but as a selling tool for products that can kill you, and is such a persoanl purchase, you cant beat a LBS who you trust. There feedback and advice is invaluable.

IMHO Treks policy is one of the best things they have introduced.

You will find a lot of Distributors in the US do not offer any warranty on bikes sent mail order.

For everyone of us guys who ā€œknows what they are doingā€ and can work out what size they need, and PDI a bike correctly there are 100 others who donā€™t.

Speak to any of your LBSā€™s who sell mail order also and ask them about the amount of time they sped with support to mail order customers. Incorrect sizing, colour isnā€™t like the web site image, do you take the bit of brown cardboard off the steerer tube before fitting the stem, which side does the bell go on? (these are all real!).

If there is an issue with your purchase, you have to send the bikes back half way across the country. Explaining things in a phone call or email is not easy.
Also one critical point is that there is no way to bribe your LBS mechanic with jafa cakes for a quick wheel true etc!!!!

This is especially dangerous with kids bikes, most Dads think they can ā€œput a bike togetherā€ (how many bikes have we all seen with the forks on back wards?).

The cynical may think it is to maintain rrp (ie profit) but I truly believe it is a dream that most other Bike companies aspire to.
