Since getting caught out in a crash for cash incident I’ve fitted my cars with front and rear dashcams. Easy DIY job. I’m much more relaxed about the range rovers that own the outside lane doing 100 knowing I’ve got evidence and their number plate on camera.
The barrister on my case said they didn’t necessarily sway or help court decisions, but they’re better than nothing and you can upload dangerous driving footage to a police portal

I service both my cars myself and always have, apart from very occasionally using a garage which just confirms I’ve been doing the right thing. Oil isn’t particularly more expensive and I buy mercedes branded stuff along with genuine filters etc from a main dealer, or eBay etc.
There’s much less choice when it comes to sourcing parts, as the big fish keep swallowing the small ones eg LKQ ECP (think Wiggle and CRC), which isn’t great news when it comes to shopping around.
With garages I imagine raging inflation is pushing all their costs up- heating, electric, wages, rent, etc, so they’re passing it on to the consumer.

The side of the political spectrum that doesn’t like free speech or opposing views being aired seems to be monumentally triggered today.

I used to live in Poole 20 years ago and that’s where I got my love of mountain biking. As others have said, over the chainlink, past Studland, up into the hills – obelisk, 9 barrow down, corfe, golf course, harry’s tank.. some great riding, variety of trails, hills.. and nice scenery. Apart from circling the harbour or doing the seafront I never ventured further afield, New Forest seemed boring in comparison- trails are sandy with not a lot of views, roads are busy with cars. If you had a road bike there’s good riding heading up around the Cranborne Chase area. When I left the area you could still get a nice 3 bed semi in Upper Parkstone for around 135k. Probably not as cheap now

realised I haven’t taken pics of the kids & dog for a while what with it being winter etc so grabbed my ancient entry-level nikon dslr with fixed length 35mm lens rather than the usual phones… Sunny day with the bluebells out, so glad I took it, u cant beat shooting RAW onto an APSC or better sensor with half decent glass and a bit of tweaking in PS afterwards. I could upgrade to a better body, but it would be bigger, heavier with more fiddly bits, so why bother. IF I were you I’d take a look at the venerable Nikon D5600 body, or D3500 even, and google around for DX lens recommendations. Not the latest thing by a long chalk but will take pics you will be very happy with.

Train/drive to Guildford, Downslink to just past Steyning, then leave Downslink and turn west on South Downs Way, take the bridleway past the pig farm up onto the hills, head up to Chanctonbury Ring for the views and a breather, then back and across on fast bridleway to Cissbury Ring, downhill into Shoreham for fish & chips on the beach. If you’re hardcore ride the Downslink back, next time I’ll be taking the train on the return leg…

I’d keep the Mondeo. And the Mk5 was less reliable than the 4

Perhaps the question ought to be why are so many French supporting le Pen? What is going on in France that makes it thus?

Komrads, I forward the motion that we write a strongly worded pleading letter to the Great Leader Ursula Von Der Leyen, begging her to use her EU Army to return these gammon islands to the Empire, so that we can once again buy cheap cassettes from Rosebikes

Yes to more nanny big-state becuz ppl can’t be expected to figure out how to eat and exercise properly, it’s the government’s job to do that, obviously.

How does increasing electric transport reduce the requirement for (electric) power?

Also tidal had been tried, doesn’t produce much power, is expensive and requires excessive maintenance.

I guess I must have just imagined all the traffic light cameras in my town that catch drivers who jump reds. Or maybe the Evil Toreees brainwashed me into believing they exist through their capitalist running dog lackies in the Murdoch Press.

Just getting them to obey traffic lights would be a start..

Near my office, in a very touristy area of London, the junctions have bike traffic lights alongside the car ones that work on a different sequence. 9 out of 10 cyclists ignore them when they’re red

the old cateye Volt 800 is probably easily outperformed but I use one for night rides through woods and trails and it works for me. Otherwise I’d probably go for a Fenix

I’d never drive it, but I guess each to their own.
Can’t go too far wrong tooling around Tuscany, Pitigliano at night is pretty special, can’t remember the name of the restaurant but it’s built into the rock so it’s like descending into caves. Massa marittima nice, and if you make it that far Orbitello for a bit of coast. Dunno if you can still just rock up and jump into the hot springs at Saturnia, if you can take a bottle of wine for a midnight dip…
Basically, amazing food, drink, more food, churches, food, drink, a limoncello, another church, food….

This site’s pretty handy for giving the important boot dimensions rather than the half-useless cubic litre capacity that gets quoted on specs… its primarily to help people choose wheelchair friendly motors but obviously handy for anyone who cares about load lugging:
    https://www.ridc.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/car-search

    specs for each car for:
Length of boot floor – back row of seats folded down or removed
Length of boot floor – back row of seats upright
    Vertical height of boot opening
Boot sill height to floor of car
    Boot sill height to ground
Width of boot floor at narrowest point
Width of boot opening – bottom

I’ve been trying to find a replacement for my aging Mk2 Focus Estate, pretty much nothing else these days has similar width/depth and the SUV craze has made matters worse…..

are u sure you mean 3/4″ ? That’s the huge one for truck hub nuts etc, scale typically starts at 200Nm and up. 1/2″ is the standard size you’d use on your car. 3/8″ drive is praps medium and 1/4″ drives are the small ones. I think the park wrenches are 3/8″ ?

You can get socket adaptors for all drives to fit hex bits. So if your torque wrench is 3/8″ drive you want something like this to hold your hex bits
