Not that bike but I’ve got a Merida Ninety-Six carbon xc bike and on the strength of that I’d happily trust other models from the brand. Apart from the rubbish Fulcrum wheelset.
2grimepFree MemberFrom what I saw, the guys arrested weren’t being threatening or abusive, but rather calm.
Apart from three police requiring hospital treatment, female officer with broken nose, airport officers are armed so risk of their weapons being taken in a fight. Arrestee didn’t require hospital treatment.
The idiots fighting are lucky they weren’t shot.
1grimepFree MemberAs for snobbishness… Note the elitist tone taken against those “uneducated” populists, easily stirred up by the evil fascist Farage yadda yadda
1grimepFree MemberCould you be more sexist or snobbish grimep
Misogynist, sexist. See, that’s why it’s a complete waste of time even trying to engage with people whose brains are on the political Left. Just the same old baseless name calling. All I did was copy this no-mark’s Wikipedia entry. There’s nothing woman-hating about ctrl-c, ctrl-v. And now I’m wasting my time, having to explain the very obvious as if I’m talking to a teenager.
Snobbish.. I hate Cameron and chums just as much as the union no marks.
If all you’ve got is name calling then you’ve lost the argument.
The one thing I’ll apologise for is I always have $hitloads of work to do so can’t really hang around here engaging with name calling socialists, a pointless exercise at the best of times, so i can see how that feels like trolling.
grimepFree Member“whether they need to be called out”
Say what you like. If that CV landed on your desk would you hire them for anything more complex than unskilled labour?
And in her case, appalling bad on paper, appallingly bad in reality. So there’s no calling out to be done. Crayons is appalling bad. It’s a fact.
grimepFree MemberKeir Stoma’s government say they’ll build 1,500,000 new homes over the next 5 years.
That’s 822 a day.
They’ve been in a few weeks now, how’s that panning out for them?
1grimepFree MemberThe deputy prime minister’s CV:
Rayner was born and raised in Stockport, where she attended the comprehensive Avondale School. She left school aged 16 whilst pregnant and without any qualifications. She later trained in social care at Stockport College and worked for the local council as a care worker. She eventually became a trade union representative within Unison, during which time she joined the Labour Party.
Hmm. That’s the second highest ranking minister. Oh well.. socialism.
1grimepFree Memberawkwardness of having to defend an indefensible Tory policy which was the subject of a Labour three line whip.
What, faced with trying to force workers who can’t afford to start a family to pay for the large families of benefit dependents, while realising the dire state of the economy cannot afford such waste and largesse, the Labour government took the only possible choice? It would be completely immoral to do anything else, a rare glimpse of sanity from the commies.
grimepFree MemberYou can think many things about grimep, but his/her timing is pretty impeccable.
Thanks! But please don’t imply I’m one of the fu#k1#9 pronoun people.
grimepFree MemberRabble: a large, noisy, uncontrolled group of people; people of low social position.
Elected on a 33% vote share and 60% turnout.
3grimepFree MemberWouldn’t buy anything with their logo on due to their use of far-left woke doctrine as marketing. Also overpriced and worn by numpties.
1grimepFree MemberSingle front ring is amazing.
Things I never want on a bike:-
1x
Dropper post
Wireless shift
>12kg of bike
Shortarse cranks
A cassette that costs more than 60 quid to replace
2grimepFree Member“It still is! All those long open B roads are still 60 for goodness’ sake. You do realise it’s not ALL roads that are 20mph right? Only in towns and villages. Did you take joy from trundling through a small village at 30mph that will now be ruined at 20mph? You absolute plonker.”
Just got back. Drove 100s of miles over many hours in central Wales. Think a camera or two got me as they’re positioned right on the 20 / 30 sign change-over point,. so after grinding along in 2nd for 5 mins, you’re 30 yards from a 30, change up to 3rd and then notice the camera too late. Utterly ridiculous, massive waste of money, everyone I spoke to said the police won’t be enforcing, complete fiasco. Are English towns and villages scenes of carnage every day as cars fly around at a terrifying 30 mph in towns and villages?
Who’s the absolute plonkers now? Yep, the top-down nanny-state Labour control-freaks in the Welsh parliament who have wasted a ton of tax and wound everyone up. A 30mph limit doesn’t mean cars literally drive at 30 through a narrow windy village – Its that nanny knows best stuff you expect from socialist public servants.
The irony is, after painfully and pointlessly crawling at 20 for umpteen times you get back onto the A40 on a Sunday and realise its an unofficial IOM TT race circuit with virtually no policing. I had a Mitsubishi Evo overtake me and another over a solid white line on a twisty section past Llandovery doing 90+, hotly pursued by 6 bikes. Just debating if I can be arsed uploading the dashcam footage to the police portal
1grimepFree MemberI’ve pulled up at a mobile cafe on a warm summer’s day before with 20 – 30 roadies hanging around outside and literally no one says hello or looks at you
grimepFree MemberKackling Harris is going up against Trump?! She doesn’t stand a snowball in hell’s chance. Awful woman. Trump’s a shoe-in.
grimepFree MemberI’ve kept quite a few picture books from my childhood and bought new copies of some for the kids, including:
The entire Richard Scarry collection
The Yak books
Gumdrop
Fungus the Bogeyman, and one of my most prized possessions is Fungus the Bogeyman: The Plop Up Book
My kids CBA with books despite me buying literally hundreds over the last 15 years, I tried to reboot my eldest’s internet in books by getting him a few graphic adaptations of classics, including Slaughterhouse 5. The remain unread
grimepFree MemberYeah, Nikon have a range of only 5 Z DX lenses, and the two kit lenses are amazing for what they are, the other 3 are a bit meh. Luckily there’s a good choice of 3rd party manufacturers eg Viltrox, Sigma, but also the likes of TT Artisans and 7 Artisans doing Z mount APSC lenses… some are MF only and the cheaper stuff is crap… But there’s quite a wide choice when you start looking. I’ve spent a few days just trying to narrow down my next lens choice
grimepFree MemberMicro 4 3rds sensor though? Might be fine but why not go for a bigger sensor apsc body. The Fujifilm X-T30 is pretty tiny but the controls will appeal to people with oldskool slr skills. I considered it and was tempted but just a wee bit too pricey. Got a Nikon Z50 instead, partly because the 16-50 kit lens is ridiculously compact. Might be a newer model coming out this year.
grimepFree MemberI was reading about the clean up/body recovery after the Mount Erebus/Flight 901 disaster. Seriously grim.
And all because the flight computer had been reprogrammed without the crew being notified
grimepFree MemberI might buy a relatively expensive item off there, a camera lens that goes for £550 is about £200 less. Never spent more than about £50
Had a fair few bits and pieces, last items were neoprene shoe covers (bit tight but ok, prob best to order a size up) and some “Rockbros” gloves which are totally pants. Titanium nut and bolt set for the Brompton was a good buy.
Are all the rear lights shite? Had one which detached itself from saddle, I couldn’t be bothered to go back and pick it up. Got a good cheap front light though.
grimepFree MemberSo getting yourself in trouble for inflicting a head injury on a baby is some sort of justification for a riot?
Strange moral compass operating in that neighborhood
grimepFree MemberEach class in my school has an unofficial league table of who’d been caned the most. One guy in mine was on 200+ strokes. I managed to escape with 3 or 4.
Zammos advice not heeded, lost one classmate to an OD and another was shot dead in Hackney while minding his own business a while ago
grimepFree MemberGrant?? Whaddaguy. Said the police ‘got a bloody good hiding’ the day PC Keith Blakelock was hacked to death on Broadwater Farm etsate.
grimepFree Memberdoubt it, the 180 mile long Pembs coastal path is footpath only
grimepFree MemberGuy’s an utter clown, too many examples to list but here’s one…
grimepFree MemberHoly heck, the King’s speech, where to start? What a…. I give them one term, if that.
Clip of the new ‘business secretary’ posted above, a man who has literally zero experience in business – Zero!
Jonathon Reynolds:
– worked for the council, trained as a solicitor, then just a Labour / Union functionary of various shades.I’m, nostalgic about a lot of things in the 1970s but not the Big-Brother socialist government, but here we appear to be going again.
In amongst the rail (& bus? is this 1960s czechoslovakia?) privatisation, tax on private schools, there’s another Race Equality Act. How many does that make now? As I understand it Labour claim this is necessary because people are paid differently based on their State racial classification. Really? I’ve been working 4 decades and that’s a new one on me. Does this ring true?
What next? I’ve noticed taller people tend to end up getting promoted to senior positions. Can we have a Helping The Shorties Into Better Positions So There Is An Equal Height Range Across Pay Grades Act?
All this is going to need Big-state policing and micromanaging, and what we all want is an expanded public sector and the bigger tax take that requires.
Twins (even identical) are often observed to grow up with widely differing life outcomes, even though they look the same, same age, same family, almost the same DNA. Can we have an Identical Twin Equality Act as clearly something is going very wrong for those guys.
Its going to be a long five years.
grimepFree MemberCan the 70% of Welsh people who can’t speak Welsh stick with the old name?
Same goes for Snowdonia.
grimepFree MemberOk, I’ll help …. The average global temperature in 1700 was…..
Nobody knows!
grimepFree MemberThanks for the education. I’ll feed back to the folk I work with everyday…
Mmm hmmm. Ok. What’s coastal erosion got to do with anything? Thought this was about rain? Which inevitably turned into muh climate change.
Still waiting for someone to tell me what the average global temperature was in 1700. – you can Google the “answer”, Google is very much knobbled to provide approved “information”
grimepFree MemberThere is also wilful ignorance
Indeed. But being spoonfed ideas and believing that has cured your ignorance isn’t very clever either. So just what was the “global average temperature” in 1700?
*bit of a trick question as the phrase global average temperature is pretty well meaningless
grimepFree MemberThe Tories had 14 years to close down this inefficient, expensive, Blairite socialist talking shop. Useless.
grimepFree MemberI guess the Elan visitors centre is mediocre for coffee and nosh?
grimepFree MemberAfter yesterday’s downpour I’m wondering if you can get clipless mtb wellies
Wales is going to be moist
grimepFree MemberHowever we can clearly say that the 1.5degree rise in temps worldwide has now happened
1.5 degrees change compared to what?
What are the datas points and how reliable are they?
Just to remind you there are lies, damned lies, and statistics.
grimepFree MemberIt’s not just about the miles, engine oil deteriorates over time. The more frequent the changes the better. 6k or 12 months, never mind the extended service intervals which exist to appeal to fleet running bean counters who get shot of the vehicle at 3 – 5 years old.
No point just doing filter as others have mentioned..
