Apple Find Friends has the advantage that it only gets her phone to send data while you are looking at it, rather than sending all the time.

This isn’t going to work, apple has to implement the copy protection for dvd’s, which means you can’t then broadcast it e.g. the the appleTV.

Best bet would be to either rip the DVD to a file to get rid of the copy protection, or just download a dodgy version.

As usual it’s the pointless inconvenience of security that drives people to what they were trying to avoid. Still, it’s also a good way to get rid of those annoying trailers and copyright protection videos.

    I have 2 of these https://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/cwr50-metal-tool-board

and my tools always go back on the wall, OCD keeps everything in it’s place. The Ms. Grilla comes and dumps gardening equipment all over the workbench to drive me nuts.

I also have load of the machine mart boltless shelving, anything you assemble with a hammer is awesome.

I can’t believe anyone knows how old their pants are.

Batch purchase of pants and socks, just after christmas year before last, from M&S Camberley.

Why do anything else ? Is there some thrill in spontaneous underwear purchasing ? All my socks are also identical so 0 effort in pairing them after washing. She’s a lucky woman !

I nipped into Debenhams the other day as *ahem* needed some pants at short notice

4 pairs for £4.50 in the sale

    http://www.marksandspencer.com/4-pack-pure-cotton-plain-slips/p/p22034574

I have 8 pairs that have lasted 2 years, that would be 1.2pence per day of pant-age.

If they look like a cowbys spurs the chances are the bearings are shot too and it won’t be long before they disintegrate and jam up

Mine looked like cowboy spurs, then disintegrated and jammed up, so I pushed my bike a mile home and then replaced them. Frankly the new ones didn’t make any difference to shifting.

You’ll be at the Leaplish park on the map, it’s not far to the start of Lonesome Pine trail, and from memory about 20 mins ride up the castle where all the other trails start.

One suggestion wouldn’t be to casually decide to ride the ‘other way’ round the lake to get back from the end of the blue, took much longer than I thought, got dark.

It’s really disappointing that there seems to be no competition in making helmets that are actually safer than others, rather than all just being certified to a really low standard.

I want to know that next time I hit a tree at 30mph I’ve got the best chance I could afford, I don’t so much care about the look, or brand, or colour. I broke my old Scott helmet that day, but not much else.

I replaced it with a Catlike Leaf but if did generally feel like style over function (very cool though). I’m now riding with the MIPS equipped Scott Stego. Is that MIPS thing going to save my life someday, who can say.

Read this as a really great resource for understanding how little importance safety has in the sales of safety equipment.

The laws around land access in England are offensive, and land owners frankly make up these stories about liability etc. The fact that to our north they have adopted to prioritise the rights of people above those of the landowners only makes it more galling.

There’s a farm trail running along the Chiltern Way footpath near me, a couple of times I’ve been ask to not cycle it. When I asked what possible damage it caused the landowner said he was being sued by a woman who had been injured by another cyclist who he should have prevented being there. It was clearly a blatant lie.

Personally I’ve decided I’m not going to do anything that would cause harm to landowners or other users of trails, but I’m not going to follow these laws. I won’t cycle paths when they are soft, I will avoid popular footpaths, and I’ll ensure my speed always allows me to avoid pedestrians.

Does fitting a camera on your helmet not somehow reduce the safety ? It always looks like something to snag in an impact, risking more rotational damage.

f you started it up , didnt let it fix and went riding it wont fix. You need to remain reasonably stationary for it to fix

hmm, not so sure about that, without a data connection a gps needs to successfully download data from the satellites in order to recognise them. Not knowing where you store the phone, but it’s perhaps more likely that putting it in a bag after you set off is more likely to interrupt this process rather than somehow travelling far enough to invalidate the data when you get it.

The aGPS on an iPhone is just as likely as a regular gps to get a signal in the same conditions. The benefit you might find of an external device is if it’s size/waterproofness means it can be located somewhere with a better view of the sky.

Check out Evoc FR backpacks, adds spinal protection if that’s something you value (don’t believe the nonsense about water bladders providing protection).

    and be affordable

well, it’s not London prices, but I would suggest you check out house prices, depends where you are moving from. There are lots of really great villages around Reading, and the MTB riding to the north and west is pretty good for the South, but you’ll pay for it.

don’t forget the stage in the Stan’s video where you slap the tyre to

    1. slightly push the tyre out from the centre channel
    2. Release stress

One of my rims is slightly bent and causes a leak before the tyre is seated, I inflate with a tube then get the tube out from the other side.

One thing to be aware of which will say you days of pain; the Sky box does NOT send 5.1 surround through the HDMI connection, just stereo(*). You’ll need to run an additional coax / optical digital audio connection for that to work.

No longer true, there was a software update last year such that 5.1 now works over HDMI ..

Spotify uses 160kbps, which is 70Mb per hour. How long are you going to spend listening to music in a month ?

Audio streaming is pretty small, video streaming from iplayer, sky etc. is much more significant. Downloading updates to software, playing online games, Skype etc. are the normal big download contributors.

2Gb is really small, if all you were going to do is browse the web and do emails it would work out just fine, but it’ll soon run out for anything much more than that. By comparison I downloaded 101Gb during November.

Jagwire cables come with a thin cable liner as well as the outer, so the actual wire doesn’t get exposed. It’s a bit hard to explain. Depends what it is you think is causing the issues with shifting.

It’s a pretty typical exchange activesync config from the sound of it, with the ‘require encryption’ option set. On Android this means the device has to go through the encrypting process, and you’ll probably find that you’ll have to set up a password an none of the picture, swipe a shape type stuff will work.

On Apple iOS all devices are already encrypted so it is less of a big deal.

Many corporate companies have much worse security lockdown policies, Good Technology being one of the worst culprits, no copy/paste etc.

I just bought an EVOC with back protection thingy in it, it certainly feels a lot more comprehensive protection than the camelbak I damaged when coming off and skidding along my back. Who can say wether it will really do any good, but it’s helped me get my confidence back.

I was a bit unsure about the merits of a water bladder for absorbing impacts, sure it will deform a bit, but water isn’t exactly shock absorbing.

Yes, the Strava app for iPhones/androids logs your ride then uploads it. It also lets you see the feed of your and others rides, analyse your performance, search for other segments you should try. If you have a premium subscription the newest iphone version will even speak to you and tell you how well you’ve just done on a segment.

All of these eat battery however, and given it’s my primary emergency rescue tool I decide to use Garmin instead, just ride everything at 100% and then see how I did after I get home.

Buy a reasonable blue-ray player, £50-£100, play dvd’s in it and it would upscale them. Then you can play either.

Forget the gold plated hdmi, utter nonsense on a digital cable unless your cable length is huge.

I didn’t make a corner that’s normally no bother at the end of a long descent last weekend, not enough grip. Hit and tree and came off the bike at 31mph hurts, and broke my helmet.

I’ve bought prescription Oakley’s from RxSport, however they were of the standard variety made by Oakley. No issues with RxSport, everything went perfectly.
