I bought a cheap one from Tesco, made out of lead and depleted uranium I think, sold it once grillaJr could keep up unaided for about £20 less than I paid.

Oakley Prescription FlakJackets here, with Black Iridium Transition lenses. Very expensive but great product. Having more wrapped around prescription lenses gives a wider field of view than I’ve had since I was about 15. I bought them through RXSport but they were made by Oakley’s lab. Ive had them 4 years now, hopefully last another 4.

There are much better bladder designs than Camelback, my Evoc is simpler, lighter and allows the entire thing to be pushed inside out to clean.

If you are on a bridleway then you are on a bridleway, not much need to debate how you are there.

Cycling on a footpath isn’t illegal, and we really do all need to stop acting like it is. Ride responsibly and with courtesy to other users of the path, if challenged by the landowner ask them in what way you are creating a public nusiance anymore than cycling on a bridleway.

Find out which paper they use, there are multiple then you’ll tend to find the exam board sell revision/practice tests, typically on Amazon. The forum at http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/11plus/index.php are pretty helpful.

Obviously I don’t know your child, but here in Bucks the nature of the exams really means that kids need to be massively practiced in the types of questions and speed of answering to have any chance. My eldest passed last year, but spent about 9 months with my wife and I tutoring him up to speed. Most round here go to after school tutors.

I’ve never understood why they sell undershorts that attach to the shorts with press studs etc. Is this really a convenience I need, why don’t my jeans fit to my pants in that case ?

anything from kingfisher group – Currys/PCWorld etc etc

all a complete bunch of twunts that once they have your money do not give a shit.

Curry’s / PCWorld isn’t Kingfisher group. Kingfisher own B&Q, Screwfix, maybe this explains why they didn’t give a shit about your broken tv ?

Currys/PCWorld is owned by Dixons Carphone.

Only that isn’t quite true: they all operate on a 3-5% margin (I don;t know specifically what margin they get for milk).

So the BBC’s infographic is wrong?[/quote]

Maybe not wrong, but is misleading. That ‘markup’ be retailers/processors isn’t just profit to them, within there is the costs of processing, transporting, stacking shelves, refrigerating, wastage for product not sold, checkout operators, free carriers, the shop, the business rates etc. The profit will only be a few % if at all.

If we want farmers to get more, we should expect to have to pay more.

At least every ride finishes with a DH, imagine living at the top knowing there’s a climb at the end of every single ride

^^This is me. More or less anywhere I ride ends up with a steep climb, still no risk on flooding.

I spent 7 days in Vegas at a Microsoft conference, it’s an odd place to be kind of alone. Had 2 days before I flew back to entertain myself, so …

+ Penn and Teller, Phantom of the Opera, and visits to all the mad casinos up and down the strip. I didn’t gamble anywhere.

I used the ‘Feel At Home’ from my Three contract while in NYC, worked perfectly on AT&T and T-Mobile networks. It’s included on their contracts, along with ‘free’ 4G and 0800 numbers, I wish I could find the catch on my £15/month contract with All You Can eat data….

I’ve have a Slide 27.5 9HD since October, good service and excellent spec, perhaps a little heavy but thats enduro for you.

    Things to remember :-
you pay the price it says on the website, vat etc is included
there is a london dealer you can collect from or take it to for repair

Slide 9HD here too, happy with it, had to cut the handlebars down as my arms aren’t long enough, changed the seat as I couldn’t get on with it, but it’s a great spec for the price.

I’m not entirely sure all the components are really ideal for my local muddy conditions, lots of things have developed noises recently, my previous bike was better at keeping the dirt out. Can’t blame radon though for a mavic hub, sram BB, replacement jockey wheels.

It’s not intuitive, but condensing dryers are typically better rated in energy efficiency than vented dryers. Even if you can vent, you’ll be ending up paying more in electricity. My Bosch A+ condensing dryer has given 4 years of flawless service so far.

Try using PowerPoint Online through OneDrive, just sign up for some free space at OneDrive.com then create a powerpoint. The browser based version isn’t bad, I would only buy if you need features not in the browser.

Office for Mac has a beta version out, so in about 3 months there will be a new version, it’s worth hanging on if you can to get the new, the current 2011 version is pretty dated. If you buy a subscription at £60/year you’ll get the update free.

Gary, I tend to feel ‘low’ and then go eat something (sometimes after testing) most days, but I’m rarely significantly hypo unless I’ve got very confused and injected myself twice. The Novopen Echo is the best one to get as it has a little screen to tell you what insulin you had last and how long ago, and saves me from myself.

I’ve only been so hypo I couldn’t help myself once.

I just recently went SIM only with 3 and they didn’t seem to do unlimited data with tiny minutes anymore

There’s still a £15/month sim only deal with unlimited data, unlimited texts and 200 minutes. I was on an older £12.90 /month deal but upgraded as the new 3 tariffs have 0800 numbers included, and I had spent more on this that the difference. It also includes 4Gb of tethering, which was £5 for 1Gb on the old.

If you get 3 reception it’s a great deal. I can use my allowance in the USA and much of europe without roaming costs, and much of London I get 4G, faster than my home broadband. I watch netflix or iplayer steaming on my phone from the train most days.

How is this such a major news story? Plane has fault, lands safely, no-one hurt. 5live was talking about little else all afternoon.

Planes are in the news, so every little story will be reported.

Helmets need to slide on the ground, not getting caught, this has been shown properly before

    http://www.helmets.org/hodgstud.htm

A camera that will easily come loose leaving the rest of the helmet to slide should be just fine, but from what I’ve seen people tend to zip tie cameras on in a pretty permanent manner.

This case seems different, the camera is implicated in creating a narrow point load that broke the helmet, sounds like a pretty freak incident to me. Bad luck for Shu-y.

Stick to chest mounts, video looks better anyway.

I switched to a Scott Lin helmet as it has the MIPS thing, and anything to further protect the brain seems like a worthwhile investment.

If you are picking a helmet based on safety, rather than style or weight, check out the information provided here http://www.helmets.org/helmet14.htm

Leave them, just think of the comfort of having 3 empty seats around you, let insurance and wife to get them back.

You’re on holiday in Mallorca, it’s hardly extreme, holiday rep should accommodate them until they can fly out.

Lots of great things suggested already, but to add one not mentioned ..

Montparnasse Tower (http://www.tourmontparnasse56.com/en/), in an evening to watch the illuminations on the Eiffel Tower. Pictures look proper french with the tower in them.

Also, the Eiffel Tower only queues for the lifts, stairs are normally pretty easy to get into. Took my 6 and 10 year old up without any issue to the second tier, can then just get a lift to the top.

Oh, and Jardin de Luxembourg for the kids playgrounds.

Not that I’m condoning it, but given the man has had his name dragged through the mud for 2 years, lost his house to pay defence costs etc, I think it would be a bit harsh for him to be locked up for what, in the grand scheme of things, isn’t really the crime of the century….

He could have just admitted it, done less time than the case has taken, and saved his house, but no, he decided to call all the women accusing him liars, and hire top lawyers to try and discredit all of their testimony. He’s been found guilty and now needs to do his time while being rehabilitated to better understand that what he must still think is acceptable behaviour is really a sexual offence.

Of course what he will do is appeal, and look for further opportunities to use his fame and wealth to avoid justice.
