Always just wear regular clothes for riding round brighton – used to have a hilly 3.5 mile commute, now much less.

Just go a bit slower, don’t wear a boil in the bag hi viz waterproof and I stay perfectly fragrant

Getting changed at work is a right faff. Bareable le when I used to do a longer 12 mile commute.

Agree with the comments above – why do we have to make riding a bike so complicated?

As above classic guitars are a good choice. I have a couple I bought with bits of inheritance from grandparents. I’ll never sell them.

A nice acoustic like a Taylor or a Martin is a good choice. It will only get better with age as well

I went to festival number 6 in portmeirion. It was fantastic, weather got a bit dicey on the Sunday (it’s a bit late in the year compared to Glastonbury), but I will go again I think. Awesome setting, great variety of stuff going on etc

Better Call Saul will be a prequel apparently

I want to see “skinny Pete and badger, master assassins” as a spin off

Incredible final episode – punching the air when Jesse righteously murdered Todd

I was there a couple of times in August with the kids. They loved the new(ish) blue trail and the skills section

My current favourite “Friday evening straight after work” pint is Brooklyn lager

    Pricey, but soooooo refreshing

presumably you have a chain tool?

My chain tool(s) have a little gap on the side which is used to snap off the thingy

I don;t think I’ve ever actually used pliars to do it

I though Hyperbole was pronounced “Hyper- bowel” for way too long

I once worked with a guy who said something like “what’s that word that means all the words you know”

I was in my late 20s before I realised that the word “misled” wasn’t pronounced my-zuld.

    Ha ha 😆

Last year at the age of 33 I realised the word “segue” is pronounced seg-way.
    Blew. My. Mind.

    oh 😳

Yep as above – I got a box spanner from the local hardware shop for a couple of quid

    Perfect

Yep lots, got a turntable at the start of the year (2nd hand rega planar 2) so I could play vinyl reclaimed from my parents, and have ended up getting lots more both new and 2nd hand

Agreed the new daft punk sounds amazing, got arctic monkeys the other day too

Got a very good condition copy of “David Live” for £5 the other day – brighton has lots of good places to buy vinyl. Been buying lots of old Bowies and talking heads recently

for a small company like cotic I imagine it’s not too much of a risk

get a 650b frame out there, but keep selling the 26 and 29ers too, then order in batches of frames based on customer demand for them.

Possibly a stupid question – why is the ply needed? Why can’t you just use the foamy underlay stuff?

Not really, the bike industry have created the obsolescence, they have to suck up the fact that they have devalued their older stock as a result.

I was smacked as a kid and I think it did do me some harm -when it happened I feel like my mum had lost control of herself, and that things other than my behaviour at the time led to this happening

Because of this I think it’s much better to have a clear “no smacking” policy – what you (as a parent) think of as “justified” smacking at the time may with hindsight not be

I’ve had a couple of barman say to me recently – you know that’s £5 a pint?(Peroni, not for me!) I changed the order and got mildly mocked for it back at the table. I don’t see why anyone would pay over the odds for one mass produced lager other another though.

Luckily all my regular haunts have very reasonably priced ales on tap (£2:99 to about £3:60 a pint, in Brighton)

For real ale try the Craft Beer co, the evening star, or the basketmakers arms

For curry – the chilli pickle, or for amazing Thai the Giggling Squid (seafood based stuff is the best there)

I haven’t been yet – but I hear Smokeys is amazing for Texas style BBQ

The loudness war has been going on longer than you think

Rock n roll 45s / motown records etc were mastered as “hot” as possible so they would “pop” compared to other records when played on a duke box

mine burst when I was about 21. Was in hospital for a few days, and took me several weeks to recover (I didn’t ride at the time “recovery” for me then was being able to face a night out on the piss)

just had a non-removable one with a 13 PIn socket fitted to my focus estate for £195. Other place I called had a similar price for me

I’m no expert – but I can do a reasonable hop on a good day. Lost confidence a bit recently so have been practicing

IMO getting the back wheel up is all in the arms – pushing the bike away from you whilst the front wheel is in the air. Point your toes and allow your legs to suck up into your body at the same time

Lots of guides talk about “scooping” up the back wheel with your feet. This is not quite right – I think the push with the bars is far more important

    I have the leyzene too.

BTW the rear mount has now been improved. If you give upgrade a call they might even send you one

I have a 661 one from CRC which I’ve used a few times when I’ve damaged a wrist riding. Feels a bit odd off the bike but works pretty well on it

And…they wouldn’t honour the beer vouchers. Was rather hoping for a mingling and chat with fellow Dawgs.

Oh dear , not sure what happened there. My headache testifies that they were certainly accepting the vouchers later on – were you there very early? Sounds like the staff at the bar were not all up to speed earlier in the evening

    Here s what I do

Beans from local roasters (small batch) or Hasbean

2 tbs of unground beans in the 3 cupper, 3and a bit in the 6 cupper

    Grind beans

No tamping! (IMO it stops the water getting through the grounds if they are tamped)

Pot on lowish heat (4 out of 6 on my hob)

    Lid open!

When coffee starts coming out – keep an eye on it. Take coffee off heat as soon as coffee stops comin out the top bit – if it all starts bubbling and glugging you’ve left it on too long

    Close lid pour coffee

Some of the trails are the same, some bits are ridden in the opposite direction. There is a new climb or 2. The lap is a bit shorter.

The course is pretty different this year.

There is a lap on strava somewhere I think – although not sure how easy it would be to follow

    I love both

A perfectly ripe peach or nectarine is one of the nicest thing you can put in your mouth

Had some disappointing ones recently that never achieved optimum ripeness before starting to go mouldy – very disappointing

Do you have a local “independent” type cinema – like one of the picturehouse chain?

Still lots of good films coming out – although summer blockbuster season is maybe not the best time for them

My girlfriend just got the Scott on bike to work

It’s a very nice bike for the money, looks great. the wheels and forks would be the first candidates for an upgrade but that’s to he expected at that price

Hottock – ideally the slightly more expensive “XC” version (luckily managed to pay less than RRP for our 2)

Good bikes, prefer to have Vs than heavy cheap discs on a kids bike, look the part too

I’d quite like one for my heckler. My soul rides very nicely with the saddle up, but the heckler just seems to handle better with the saddle out the way.

If I lived somewhere that truly was “big climb” followed by “big descent” I wouldn’t bother. The times I wish I had one is when I’m riding a descent that involves climbing sections. Up or down the saddle is never in the right place, and I don’t want to stop

How long is your stem? Getting a shorter stem will be much cheaper than getting a new frame

Yep – retrieved an inner tube from a tree on the SDW this morning – what kind of arse could possibly think it an ok thing to do?
