    Where you want I think

Putting the wheel closer to the seat tube will effectivelt give you shorter chain stays, which people seem to be keen on these days (but could limit the size of the tyre you are able to fit)

Makes you wonder how deeply sinister these confesions would get if these posts were totally anonymous with no mods..

There was a thread on reddit last year where users opened new user ids to post and confess

    So. Much. Incest .

Seriously – we can all do something by turning up to vote in the next election

And making sure we vote for the “lesser of two evil” ones rather than “actually really properly evil” ones

And torrent Game of Thrones instead of paying Murdoch for it on Sky

I got my daughter one for christmas

    it seems great so far

as long as you are happy using Google docs for any office type stuff (and I would say only a “power user” might have problems)

If you need iTunes to manage music for an iPhone/ iPod then a chrome book won’t work – but if you are a google play user then perfect

The good thing is they are relatively cheap – so worth a try to see how you get on

    Tongue sandwiches

My mum’s liver – dryer and tougher than an old boot (I have had nicely cooked liver in restaurants since though and like it)

Risotto – the dish my mum used to cook bore very little resemblance to what I now know risotto to taste like – hers was American long grain rice with leftover ham or chicken and peppers. We used to eat it with mango chutney(!) – it was incredibly dry so moisture was needed

In fact looking back my mum had no clue how to cook meat really!

What should I run in Disk Utility then?

boot up the mac whilst holding down CMD R (stop when the apple logo appears)

you should then be presented with the OSX Utilities Window

Select Disk Utilty from there – then run verify disc. This will then tell you if there is something wrong with the disc (there was with mine). You can then select Repair disc

    only took a few minutes

Have you run disc utility? – switching users loads better for me having done that

Using it on late 2009 iMac. No horror stories, but very slow to do some simple things like switch users. No major advantages I can see. If it weren’t for needing it to run some software I need I would not have bothered, so unless you have a compelling reason to switch I can’t see any reason to bother.

my 2008 macbook was running like a total pig after install – i was really annoyed as I was perfectly happy with snow leopard, and had been seduced by the fact it was a free upgrade. Apparently going back from mavericks to snow leopard is not a straightforward job either

I just repaired the disk using disk utility (hold down CMD R during start up) and everything is good now. Phew

For me it’s great if I “waste” the day doing things I like doing

Watching films or TV box sets
    Listening to records
    Reading good books
Eating nice food/ drinking good drinks

If I set out to have a productive day, and end up procrastinating and doing nothing – catch myself sat down browsing the Internet on my phone , eating rubbish to avoid going to the shop or whatever then I feel like crap

Don’t underestimate the benefit of opening all the windows in the house and giving it a good airing on a reasonably dry/ breezy day.

I got a very cheap one off amazon (like 3 quid or something). Took ages to come – no idea how accurate it is. Typical reading is about 55% – but can climb to mid 60s with lots of cooking/ showers or when the flat is cold

I just got it out of curiosity – as I have a dehumidifier and wanted to make a comparison with when that decides to turn itself on or off. No idea if its accurate – but apparently mid 50s is cobsiderd normal – and I don’t have problems with condensation in my flat (as long as I open windows when cooking/ showering and use the dehumidifier when drying clothes indoors)

If the humidity in your kitchen is really as high as that then condensation would be pouring off the windows

I think there is much hope in McCarthy

The worlds he’s writing about, whether its the old west, present day, or apocalyptic near future is always populated with terrifying brutality and evil. But the good always survives too.

The film of the road is good – just don’t watch the film of “All the pretty horses”

My parents both came from Lancashire (although had moved down south by the time I was born)

They always call it the lounge, but the word makes me cringe and I always say living room, or front room

I always thought lounge sounded very “hyacinth bouquet” – but based on comments above maybe I’m wrong and it’s just a north/ south thing

I was going to say Harry Dean Stanton

I used to believe that If Harry dean Stanton is in a film you can be sure it’s at least worth a watch . However I’ve just checked IMDB and he’s in loads of shit

Harrison Ford is in raiders 4 and cowboys vs aliens

Don’t forget the phono stage – some turntables have one, old amps have them. But there is a good chance you will need to buy a separate one

(Don’t make the mistake I did and assume an amp with a “phono” option on the input selector switch actually has a phono stage )

    That’s insane

Take a look at Discogs – seem to be plenty of copies of both on there for a far more reasonable price

edit – oh, I see you’re selling rather than buying

I’ve recently taken possession of an 80s Raleigh record sprint – my neighbour left it out in the street (so someone could take it if they wanted it)

It’s missing the saddle and seatpost but is all present and correct apart from that

Can’t decide if I’m going to run it geared or as a SS

I would advise the pair of you take the time to read something like a super nanny book, then you take some time off to help implement the routine / structure the pair of you agree on

The problem with your situation is coming home and offering your wife helpful advice when she’s stressed out and tired is always going to result in anger and conflict – better the advice is coming from outside, even if it is just a book

I know some felt it could never live up to the hype – but I think I’ve listened to Random Access Memories by Daft Punk more than any other new album this year. I think it’s a stone cold classic

Also liking the new John Grant, Nick Cave, Arctic Monkeys, Parquet Courts, National , Hookworms, Mathew E White, Houndstooth and Bill Callahan

    Edit – And Vampire Weekend

My ex an I got a “deed of separation” drawn up by an online solicitor

It set out what we had agreed on paper – I’m not sure how much the document is worth in legal terms, but it seemed like a step in the right direction

Then after 2 years we had a DIY divorce – except for the money bit, got another real (online) solicitor to do that, again based on what we agreed between us

You could skip straight to the divorce – but you will have to agree who will take the blame (for adulatory or unreasonable behaviour).

Take a look at the wikivorce website – it’s very good

Not sure how much they cost right now – but the Mexican fender “classic players” are worth a look – they usually have custom shop pick-ups. I have the 60s strat in sonic blue and it’s a lovely guitar for the money

I’m waiting for the HP 14″ one to come out – hopefully soon. Shame that the 11″ ones’ chargers blew up (OK, a few overheated but they have been withdrawn from sale).

hmmm thanks for the tip off

Pretty cheesed off actually – I have bought my daughter one of these for Xmas. Despite buying it direct from HP they have not contacted me to let me know about the problem. Looks like I need to buy a new charger for it

I used the rock shox guide – and got a full set of seals from a guy on eBay

    Got the fluids from TFT

You will need circlip pliars – and appropriately sized spanners/ sockets (manual will tell you the sizes)

Watch yourself / protect your eyes – I had a “moment” when a bit of fork flew with some force up to the ceiling. I had emptied the fork of air but I think something was stuck (hence the need for a service) preventing all the air from being released properly

I took my time and now my forks work as well as ever – so all good
