mike harding is a stand up?

Is that the same bloke who does the radio 2 folk show? I'm sure he's a nice chap but he seems to be the polar opposite of funny

canned bread and whole chicken is populare= with survivalist types in their homemade bunkers I imagine

I love that the chicken is "fully Cooked' but is whiter in complexion than an albino with swine flu ……….

not sure if thats better than those pre-cooked chickens in Asda and safeway – god knows what they use to make them that orange colour

I'm not sure some of the films you people are mentioning have happy endings!

Dan Ackroyd in Trading Places for me – pretty dark days for most of the film, but you get to end it super rich on a a yacht (I think, or was it a dessert island?) with Jamie Lee in her prime

or James Bond, yes I want to be bond

    or Indy

Bill Bailey has lots of stuff going on on stage

    not sure Kay does
interesting that he is very unpopular with his fellow comics – seems to get accused of stealing material alot
    – sour grapes or truth I wonder?

Exorcist 3 when that hooded figure with the big choppers crosses the screen. Candyman seemed scary when I first saw it. Unsettled for a few days by hellraiser. 2 scenes from omen 2 stayed with me – the kid stuck under the ice and the woman getting her eyes pecked by crows.

I haven't seen this film, but i did see Blair Witch

its worth remembering that both films were very low budget to make, but had many millions of dollars thrown at them in marketing. without the marketing, no hit.

the downside is in both cases what are decent horror movies are let down when you actually see them by the weight of expectation – its like you sit down in the cinema with your arms folded thinking "come on then, scare me – your supposed to be the scariest film of all time"

i love the beatles and some lennon solo stuff but he was a spent force when he died – his last few solo albums are utter rubbish

    elvis was also well done

    as was Jim Morrisson

Marvin Gaye was spending his days out of his mind sitting on the wall outside his dads house – he was done

the vast majority of musicians/ bands do their best work on their first 3 albums. No doubt some utter geniuses died before their time, but we haven't heard of them!

my five year old has got a 20" wheeled hotrock – he is big for his age though.

he struggles a bit to change gear though, I need to have a look at the shifter/ cables I think (bike was s/h)

i find it odd when people say that the book of NCFOM is better than the film – its about the only film I can think of where it seems to be an almost perfect recreation of a book on film, something to do with the stripped down narrative I think

plenty of decent films based on books, but they are never "the same"

the coen's first feature (blood simple) was a bit of an influence on Tarantino I think, not much to compare in their recent films though

hope to see the new Coens film in the next few days, its getting great reviews

AndyP – US TV puts British TV to shame these daya
Oh come off it. Other than The Simpsons, there is NO good US tv. FACT. Agree a lot of british TV is lame – hence the rest of that post!

    Sopranos
    The Wire
    Family Guy
    South Park
    Curb Your Enthusiasm
    Generation Kill
    The Shield
    30 Rock
    The Daily Show
    Hung
    The West Wing
    Eastbound and Down
    US Office

none of these shows are "good" in any way 🙄

edit : Oh and the simpsons lost it big style years ago

    oh, got you

some friends of mine got married with "Be My Baby" by the ronettes playing as she walking down the aisle

unfortunately the vanue played it too quiet – and the room was too small for it to really have much impact. But played loud in a church it would sound amazing!

won't the band just play the songs they normally play?

    hi ho silver lining etc

Are they willing to spend time learning to play loads of new material?

ptfe tape? (i think thats what its called)

a very thin tape that kind of wraps round the threads, meaning it should seal up tighter

get a big sealed tupperware box that will fit in your fridge
buy a salad spinner/ dryer thing

buy a whole lettuce, etc as above – wash and chop the lot – then store in your sealed box

salad kept this way in the fridge will easily keep the week without going off/ brown

MrSparkle – do you have a mortgage on the house you live in now?

Assuming yes, I would sell now in the state it is in now and pay off the mortgage on your home.

If you are lucky enough to be mortgage free already – well its all gravy whatever you do!

i've split tyres on rides and fixed with a park tyre boot

then once home I've added a layer or two of gaffer tape behind the boot, and sealed the tear with superglue

easily get a few extra months out of a tyre that way

I expect to see their kids at teatime/ lunchtime

I don't expect to have someone else's 5 year old running around my house at midnight – and I wouldn' t inflict it on my friends (I have 3 kids, including a 5 year old)

often go to visit friends with my kids, or have friends with kids come to us – and kids are sent to bed for a sleepover type thing, not sitting up with the adults

i think your friends are just odd

I honestly don't think this is the "done thing" – a daytime invitation to lunch or "tea" , you assume kids are invited

evening invite, 8pm – no kids, taken as read

the fact that all of your friends with kids do things differently suggests this is a how your circle of friends prefer to do things. get some new friends cos yours are rubbish

a friend of mine had a pet rabbit as a kid that started getting a bit "bitey"

the families solution was to cook it for sunday dinner! I like eating rabbit as much as the next man, but that seems a step too far for a family pet

And they will never lose their homework with time machine.

Heheheheh. Until it burns out after c.18months

thats an issue with the apple branded time machine hard drive – not the time machine software itself. You don't have to buy an apple harddrive to use time machine (in fact the key benefit of that drive seems to be wirless backup – not really needed if he's looking to but an iMac)
