Lovefilm are starting to do streaming – some films are free but some have a charge evan if you are a member which seems odd to me. Watched "mesrine" the other night for free and it worked very well

schraedar on the MTBs – Presta always seem fragile to me, add mud into the equation and my chances of killing a perfectly good tube are increased dramatically

Presta on the road – anything else would just seem wrong

use a frame fit pump on the road, so no issues with sharing pumps

my ex (still living in the same house) operates an "if it looks tidy, is tidy" policy

ie she will clear surfaces etc – but when you open the cupboard you get hit by falling hoovers/ saucepans / ironing boards etc as everything has just been thrown in.

never understood the iTunes hate – seems perfectly easy to use, intuitive and reliable to me

is it different/ less reliable when run on a PC or something?

rich – yes the lady on the phone tried the full reset, made no difference

I will try the threat to leave – we use them for phone and broadband as well. If I say I'm going to buy a freesat box instead they might go for that.

    I'll call tonight

oh and problem number 2 – the power ligh now stays green (rather than turing red) when I switch the box off.

I fear this might be a sign of a more dramatic fault with the box – and that its only a matter of time before all telly is lost (I have no aerial) 😥

I love the BBC – but do think their recent Drama output is very poor compared to the US

I read an interesting article by a UK TV writer (who has written for the BBC). He basically said the issue was the BBC's choices of what drama to make is too commitee/ management led

The big US dramas get driven by a powerfull writer/ producer – which means an undiluted "vision" is more likely to make it to the screen.

Its a shame – as the BBC is funded by the license fee and not advertisers it should have the freedom to take some risks but it plays it safe time and again. Compare this to HBO in the US who have no ads but are funded by viewers subscription fees.

Having said that there are some good shows

Bodies a few years ago was very good, "the Street" is good. I've not watched "BeingHuman" but I've heard that is good also

It's not a Cohen Brother film, but I re-watched Bubba Ho-tep recently and was struck by how much of a Cohen's feel it has about it. Possibly a cross between Cohen brothers and Sam Raimi.
    POSTED 1 HOUR AGO # REPORT-POST

Sam raimi worked on the early Coen's films as cinematographer I believe,

No pics right now. But I have a mexican 60s tele in Olympic White, a classic player 60s strat in electric blue and a Taylor 350 acoustic (I think that's the modal anyway).

Just using a line 6 pod right now- but planning on getting a fender deluxe reverb reissue amp very soon. Oh and maybe an orange tiny terror too!

An Australian comedy called "the castle" . A big hit over there, I don't think you can get it on DVD here, I used to have a VHS . It's very funny if you ever see it on late night tv

Mine went to their great granparents funerals – aged four to 9. They were fine. Think it helped them to say goodbye. I didn''t get taken to my dads funeral ( I was 7). I wish i had gone – I think it would have helped me grieve if I could have heard what was said about him there.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say I like him. He is funny, and the BBC will struggle to find anyone to fill his shoes on a big stat type chatshow – the closest they have is graham norton, but his appeal is limited. Perhaps chris Evans back on tv.

Oh and his "fee" is actually cash to his production company that makes the shows, not his salary.

Endless attacks on the BBC from the mail and Murdoch are business motivated – they just want a slice of the very lucrative BBC worldwide pie.

    for me

    blood on the tracks
    blonde on blonde
    Highway 61 Revisited

    but there are lots really

I especially love the recording of his show at the "Royal Albert Hall" (its actually in Manchester Free trade hall) from 1966 – Bootleg series volume 4. This is the infamous "Judas" show, the first CD is Bob on his own, the 2nd is him on stage with "The Band" as his backing group and a hostile audience

    its amazing

is the ps3 a "good" blu ray player? Or do you get better performance from a stand alone machine? Does it do a good job of upscaling regular DVDs on a HDTV?

I'm going to need a new TV/ DVD set-up next year and I am thinking about a PS3 (so I can play some games with the kids – and they also have a Wii at their mums).

But – I watch more movies then I play games so the performance of the Blu Ray is critical for me

boss cat was the name of the show in the uk – due to there being a brand of catfood available called topcat

the music went "topcat" though – and everyone called him "topcat" so a bit daft really

there is good tv out there

    amazing US dramas
good comedy from UK and the US
    BBC4 has some good stuff

but you do need to be very selective – I try and avoid just sitting down to watch TV, as inevitably you end up watching rubbish

i don't like him very much – because in his act he does that thing where he tells a story about something that clearly did not happen to him – but presents it as fact

I call this the "something funny happened to me on the way to the theater" style

some comedians are masters at getting humour out of real events – this is great

others are able to make it clear that they are spinning a flight of fancy – this is fine too

but the ones who sit in between these two styles I find irritating – not sure why, it just grates with me

lots of hot olive oil – butter will just burn at that sort of heat

pour your egg mix in – then use a wooden spoon to drag the cooked egg into the middle of the pan, the runny egg will then run onto the hot pan surface and cook itself.

you should have a nearly cooked omlette in about 30 secs

add your cheese to the top, and fold over – leave a few seconds to melt the cheese and cook any remaining raw egg

for arounds 500 quid for a system in your living room you can get

camridge audio CD player and amp + some reasonable speakers from richer sounds (+ some reasonable speaker cable/ connectors)

argos for some stands for your speakers/ a stand for your amp and CD player

in no hifi enthusiast – but I think anyone can tell on listening that even this fairly basic set-up is better than any mini system/ compact type thing you could buy for similar money

masks – I was terrified of people wearing masks, or evan masks hanging up in shops

didn't really like halloween as a result – and used to hide under the kitchen table when trick or treaters came round (although that wasn't that often in those days)

still remember that hot feeling of terror when I saw one, and my heart racing – shivers

    NOOOOOO NOT POLAR EXPRESS

each to their own but I hate that kind of animation using "real actors" to record the motion – something creepy about it

for the same reason I will not watch that new version of a Christmas Carol
