I got a shitty text from my ex when the birthday gifts I helped the kids choose for her were not deemed up to scratch

They were for her 40th and she wanted something she could keep like jewelery or something

with the whole prepacked/ loose thing – you just need to check the cost per kg which is displayed (by law I think) on the label or price ticket on the shelf

I thought everyone did this – generally loose is cheaper but not always. Whats interesting is that loose is often cheaper than pre-packaged “value” branded fruit and veg, which is not on IMO

i happily run a 2.25 Rocket Ron on mine – but don’t think I would go any wider at the back

And mine is 1×10 so I’ve no idea if a front mech would cause problems on a tyre that size

This thread makes my head hurt

    I play CDs or records

    Or listen to the radio

Ok. I do rip CDs to iTunes/ download free mp3s of records I have bought so I can listen to them on my phone when out and about

And I sometimes use free spotify on my laptop to sample albums before buying

But streaming/ NAS drives linked to the hi if all just sounds like a ball ache. Take music off shelf, play music, listen to music. Simple. I don’t want to have to perform IT troubleshooting in order to listen to Stevie Wonder. Ever.

    And pancakes!

How the hell do you make delicious golden pancakes without frying in butter (although bacon fat is even better)

I’ve gone 100% proper butter – with a butter dish with a cow on it and everything

for no other reason than it tastes nicer

Now low fat spreads and maragarine are no longer considered good for you why not? Evan if butter turns out to be as bad for your health

My dad was talked out of buying the ultraburner I had already chosen and into the grifter xl I ended up with.
Why dad why? I cried. The sales man told him it was stronger more robust therefore harder for me to break.

Never trust a salesman , the clue is in the name.
Bastards, the lot of them .

me too! I wanted a BMX, my mum knew I wanted a BMX, all my mates were getting BMXs

ended up with a Grifter – more comfortable saddle apparantly 😥

I would also recommend Myers Briggs – did it at work a few years ago and found it very helpful in understanding myself and my relationships (not just introvert/ extrvert but across all four of the key aspects)

The best part was identifying that I’m not a total weirdo for my resistance to making plans – which can cause friction when you are in a relationship with someone at the other extreme

I posted on it I think so if you check my history you should find it

During the 80s and early 90s most of my music was on cassette. Stupidly I got rid of them all at some point. I’ve since found that most of the ones I got a hankering to own again could be bought on CD for peanuts 2nd hand from Amazon

Most of my music purchasing (both 2nd hand and new)is on vinyl now – but owning the 90s albums of my youth on vinyl would seem wrong somehow.

Slightly ironic when you consider this album cover which made me smile when I came accross it in the LRS the other day

Ok – I’m going to put this one out of it’s misery

    It’s Todd Rundgren – Something/ Anything?

Although I’d love to see someone have a go at describing the cover of the album that followed it

Ok – tricky one to describe this

In the background is a mountain range

mid ground is the name of the artist and album

left foreground a man looks out of a window – a shard of sunlight / laser beam/ something (?) is coming from his head up into the sky. His eyes are closed

Ok – maybe a tricky one

Close up on the shaven head of the artist

He is looking down at the ground so you can’t see his face

He is wearing sunglasses and a very large gold chain

I had a grifter – got it the same Xmas everyone else got a BMX

It honestly still hurts – bike ownership is all down to timing I guess

As above I have cheap luggage scales from amazon and they are fine

They tell me how much my bike weighs relative to how much it used to weigh – or the other bikes in the house that have been weighed on the same scales

I have had 120mm x-fusions on mine since it was first built up earlier this year

It is great with 120mm forks – and suits the build I was going for as I wanted an all rounder bike I could race xc on, take to trail centres/ rockier places than my local riding on the south downs etc. The bike is perfect for its intended job

The only note of caution – 120mm forks meant a relatively high front end compared to my old Soul (which also had 120 mm forks) – I am running flat bars and a 0 degree, slammed stem to achieve a bar height that suits me

If I had a full suss as well as the cotic I would probably be trying 100mm forks on the Solaris and using it as more of a pure xc bike
