you should be able to get hold of a PS2 scart to component cable pretty easily – then bob is your proverbial uncle

you will have got a PS2 scart to composite cable with the PS2 (i know I did)

if you are just using the ps2 for singstar this option is probably plenty good enough

at that age I would expect parents to stay at the party with their kids

this means you don’t have to worry too much about controling the hordes

    just keep it classic

pass the parcel, musical statues – huge amounts of chocolate fingers

I hope they don’t make an Arrested Development film

I don’t think it would work

if you like those then try Arrested Development – direct line from that to 30 Rock and Modern Family

Larry Sanders is available on DVD now and is an absolute classic

    agreed

I have come from sky to virgin, I like the broadband, i like the fact I get get iPlayer etc via the virgin box

But the UI is awful – slow, multiple clicks when one or 2 will do

    drives me a bit nuts

small pre-packed saddle bag (the little topeak one) – contains multi tool, chain tool, 2 x spare tubes, spare chain links and a tiny, weeny patch kit.

frame fit pump – means I can get my tyres up to “proper” pressure if I need to, and I only use c02 when racing

food, money, phone, keys, waterproof/ gillet in pockets.

I frequently do early start rides – and I find trying to remember everything I need and cram it in my pockets a real pain and faff first thing. Plus the saddle bag is small, stuffed to the gills so it doesn’t rattle, and doubles as place to attach to a rear light – so I don’t have to fit an ugly plastic bracket thing

The start of the player is a homage to the start of ‘touch of evil’ . The joke is is that the characters are talking about the long tracking shot in touch of evil, whilst being in one at the same time

3rd once upon a time inthe west – it lasts about 15 mins or so.

The long continuous shot at the start of ‘touch of evil’ is pretty awesome.

    Raiders of the lost arc

Really enjoyed the start of ‘zombieland’ the other day

my 6 year old has had a DS for 2 years – use is limited so you can think what you like about weather kids should be allowed to play computer games or not

but they are built pretty tough – he has never lost it (for long anyway) or broken it

he will love you loads for getting him one

games featuring mario or lego are the best ones

alternatively if you want something that plugs into the telly then a Nintendo WII

A DS is the way to go. Simple to use, lots of kid friendly games, good on long car journeys etc

I just get fecked off with the amount of tax I pay for no great return.

I get no benefits. I’m even on Bupa with work so I don’t trouble the NHS.

its not about what you should be getting out of it – you get plenty out of this country already thanks to the education it gave you, and the opportunities it gave you (and no doubt your hard work)

Oh and enjoy your BUPA care when you get knocked off your bike and have multiple head injuries, or need a coronary bypass or something – that BUPA care of your is going to come in really handy then isn’t it?

Why – so some sponger can have a DVD player and an XBox.

crazy – I’m pretty sure you can play DVDs on an Xbox

BTW – I don’t have much sympathy with you having to pay more tax or being “worse off”. You sound like you deserve it

If pain worsens considerably & you become sicker, then the pain goes very quickly & you feel somewhat better, get seen asap, as that worsening & sudden improvement are textbook of an appendix rupturing, soon to be followed by peritonitis.

exactly what happened to me. Between the ages of 17 and 20 I got 24 hours of intense abdominal pain and nausea. Each time I saw a doctor. They said it wasn’t my appendix, shrugged their shoulders and gave me pain killers. The I would wake in the morning feeling 100% better. Pattern continued for a few years – happening once a year.

The last time in happened I woke up the next day still in pain. Finally went in to A and E about midnight – took an age to get seen (about 6 hours I think). My appendix had burst – and I was pretty poorly. Not good as all the toxic goo that comes out of your appendix needs to be cleaned up by the surgeon – and 2ndry infection is a real risk

INFP here – one thing I saw had a little stick man picture to illustrate my personality “type”

it showed a man in a hammock, day dreaming about baqs of gold – which seemed pretty spot on to me.

1st album was fun – they sounded like a fantastic bar band

they have since moved towards the “Big Stadium” sound – lots of space, ringing chords, “anthemic’ (ie fairly dull) choruses.

They are now a very succesful stadium rock band – so I guess it worked. But it does all seem a bit cynical dull now

I have just a bumper for day to day use – naked doesn’t work for me, the phone feels like a bar of soap without the bumper

I have an otterbox – but I am only using it for when I am riding off road. It seems very sturdy, and protects the screen from muddy fingers – but its just too bulky to carry around all the time

when i did it a while ago I needed a card for about 10 pounds to unlock some of the channels – you could get a lot of channels but not all of them without the card

If they have sky plus or HD I’m pretty sure none of that stuff works if you cancel your subscription

I just think the whole idea is a waste of time. I’ve seen a load of 3d films at the cinema with the kids, and although some of the films have been good (up, toy story 3, Coraline), not one of them has been enhanced by the fact that the film is in 3d. If the film is any good by the end you have forgotten about the 3d. I found it detracted from avatar, because I wanted to look at what was going on on the whole screen, but the 3d effect is forcing you to focus on a specific point on the screen.

I think the movie studios will find less and less people caring if a film is 3 d or not now the novelty has worn off, and this will filter down to the tv hardware manufacturers who will quietly drop the whole idea.

And I agree with the pop-up book thing. It doesn’t Even look like true 3 d

I love the credit sequence montage , with “the times they are a changing'” in the background. And the prison breakout sequence is superb. Im not really clear how a better job could have been made of adapting the comic.

Those ‘text girls in your area’ services are like a tax on the stupid. I seriously think they should be made illegal. But then all late night tv would cease as there would be no ads to fund it.

if done properly the hub has no play when the QR is done up, loosen the leaver a little and you’ve got play in the hub.

the park tools method for adjusting them is the best – as the tension is adjusted with the QR done up

Big Star – they pretty much invented Power Pop. You want the 1st 2 albums (radio city and number 1 record which conveniently come on 1 CD. Alex Chilton the lead singer died this year. When they re-formed in the 90s the Posies made up the numbers I believe)
Early Todd Rundgren – try Something/ Anything
    The Cars
Silver Sun – a UK band who were around during Brit Pop, but played classic Power Pop. The Eponymous 1st album is awesome

and of course Teenage Fanclub – Grand Prix will never get old

there is so much wrongness being spouted on this thread I don’t know where to start

no doubt the record companies have got things very wrong in the last few years, but people who expect to get decent music for free – and continue to get it (decent music I mean) are deluded

musicians need to make a living – people who listen to that music need to pay for it.
Artists like radiohead can get away with releasing music for free/ contribution only because they are already rich – thanks to having EMI behind them in their early career. If EMI didn’t exist radiohead would never have reached such a wide audience

And its pointless discussing the relative quality of “manufactured’ music – all music is manufactured. It doesn’t appear in the air like some form of magic. Whether you like it or not is purely subjective. The idea that the record companies have a magic, perfect formula for making music that always sells is a myth.

She lives there, you don’t, but you are paying half the mortgage? You’ve been getting shafted ever since you moved out.

Get the house sold as soon as you can. It’s a bit late now but it would have been better if you had not moved out until the house was sold, or she bought you out
