I’m looking at engineered bamboo to replace the cheap laminate in my new flat. Looks nice and apparently greener than real wood

Ps3 and singstar game? A few years ago my daughter wanted one, and I ended up getting a cheap ps2. Far more versatile

    agreed

I hate the planning (not so much the high level, ooh “I want to go to there” kinds of stuff, more the detailed booking of flights/ hotels/ planning routes etc). I organised a “holiday of a lifetime” type trip to the states with the now ex and the kids – really didn’t enjoy it. Many evenings with a furrowed brow

Usually on the holiday itself I find myself wishing I could just go home, well before the holiday is over.

The older I get, the more I realise what a homebody I am

Having said that, I have enjoyed holidays where I am only responsible for myself – so trips away with friends when I was younger, MTB trips away with friends, a long weekend in NYC with some friends a few years ago. So I think a lot of my dislike comes from travelling with the family, and feeling like I was solely responsible for all the planning and “what are we going to do today” type stuff (the ex seemed to expect me to be a walking guidebook with endless new idea for things to do. She would never find, plan or suggest anything to do herself). Now I’m no longer married this is not such an issue – had a week with the kids in Wales last year, and felt much lower pressure (although I was looking forward to home a bit by the end, but the weather was pretty poor so no surprise I was getting a bit bored with it)

Hoogestraden is incredible. There was a documentary about him a few years ago – he is like dick dastardly made flesh.. He absolutely revels in being an utter tool.

the ones I like are “I kissed a girl” and “in and out” (I think its called that anyway).

    Both well produced and catchy

I can’t really comment on her newer stuff

I think its normal practice to have different godparents for different kids – so maybe your sexuality isn’t the reason?

My kid’s mum was the religeous one (not me), so I’m not 100% on this – but our kids all have different godparents

not quite as you describe – but I have the “things” application on my computer and iphone

does a good job of managing my to do list – but not super cheap

Think there is a cheaper/ free one called “dont forget the milk”

I watch a fair bit of telly- but go for a quality over quantity approach

But I dont watch any of the boring stuff you have listed above – why are you?

With boxes that record the programmes you like/ iplayer etc its always easy to find good stuff to watch (I mainly watch US dramas/ UK and US comedies/ the odd documentary). And to avoid the stuff you don’t like

    I like Katie Perry’s music

A couple of her singles are classic bubblegum pop, and there is nothing wrong with that. Far better than anything Ms Cole has ever done

Am I allowed to look at pictures of her on the internet now?

oh, I can’t really comment on how it compares with iplayer via the PS3 as I never use this

    grievoustim

the movie I watched was far worse than iplayer.

iplayer via my virgin box is very good – especially the HD content

I am going to give it another go though – I have Virgin broadband, so in theory bandwidth shouldn’t be an issue. Howeber I did test it at around tea time, which is the peak time for broadband usage.

I’m going to give it another go a bit later in the evening and see if quality improves. i will report back

I only had a quick look – but there are plenty of films to choose from I think – and I expect they will be adding more over time

they charge extra for the brand new films

    bad news

I subscribe to love film , and have a PS3 so tested it out as soon as I could.

I have streamed films from love film before on the laptop – and been impressed

but on my 37″ TV the picture is far too low res – it looks far worse than non-HD TV through my virgin box.

I tested it out on “The Mist”, I may test another to be sure, but I’m used to watching films on DVD and Blu Ray. Love Film don’t charge any extra to rent Blu Rays over DVDs, so for now I’m happy to wait to get the discs in the post.

Shame cos I really like the idea of having a big library of films to choose from and watch whenever I like

i’ve been living alone for the first time in my life since July (well apart from the 3 days a week I have my 3 kids with me).

It’s OK, nice to be able to watch what I want, eat what I want etc etc

Does get a bit quiet though – I feel kind of out of step with the rest of the world as literally everyone I know is married/ got young kids etc

I could do with a few more single friends to go drinking with or whatever at the weekends

    Fair point nickf

Have you seen any of the “fly on the wall” footage that was recorded during the making of the “let it be” album. Incrediblly tense and awkward scenes of bickering between the band, who obviously were not getting along at all at the time.

Apparently george quit the band at one point because yoko took one of his chocolate digestives without asking.

    Nick f, really?

I love Phil Spector stuff (apart from the murdering of course), but I really liked ‘naked’. I think he only really added stuff to “let it be” and “the long and winding road” anyway

I am very impressed with the camera – it really does take good pictures.

this is STW, of course it’s worth arguing about

we’ve been here before, more than once

The Beatles are a “red flag” – same as Macs, iphone, coffee, immigrants, muslims and all the rest

I think the problem with the whole Beatles thing is that a lot of people are happy to think of them as “Just a band”, and have an opinion on whether they like them or not based on that. (which is fine)

Other people like to think about them in context of all the cultural and musical changes that were taking place in the 60s – and then they become a lot more than “just a band”. I love the music, but I’m also fascinated by the story of the Beatles.

I’ve said this on here before – but if you are a music geek you can have a very interesting time with a stack of Beatles CDs and the book “Revolution in the Head”.

if you are using tubes cloth tape is fine

you just don’t want it for tubeless – for that you want just the yellow tape

    grievoustim
    Free Member

i have a new set of crests with mud xs fitted, running tubeless- no real issues for me (and this was my first go at tubless and I was expected a faff)

my tyres were already well used though – so not sure if that made a difference. Just using yellow tape and JRA sealant stuff

I fitted the tyres with a tube first for a few days

then took the tubes out, fitted the valves, rubbed neat washing up liquid round the beads, poured in some sealant and pumped like crazy with a track pump. One of them was loosing air for a while round the valve – but I rotated the wheel so the valve was at 12 oclock and the sealant seemed to find its way to where it needed to be.

Pinches advice for getting the tyres on in the first place sounds right

Joolsburger – your argument makes no sense. Of course the beatles had influences, nobody starts bands in a vacuum. The point is that chuck berry is still doing the same thing he did in the fifties. The beatles went from she loves you to “a day in the life” in about 4 years. No one has ever
Matched them for innovation in pop music in such a short space of time. No one.
