I managed to get a formula bleed kit from that website people were linking to a while ago selling cheap formula breaks (a search should find the thread). Think it came direct from formula in Italy. Might be able to find what you need there

If you like your yamaha, you could get a pickup of some kind fitted to it. Again Gak would be able to help with this.

agreed – I have a 37 inch TV – and it is very obvious when there is something on in HD

The Evil Dead fans need to look at “Drag Me to Hell”

Its not all good – but one or 2 scenes (most notably the one in the underground car park) are classic Rami – and have the same humour as the evil dead films

I recently watched a Blu Ray of Antichrist – which was apparently shot on HD video

    It looks utterly amazing

whether you enjoy the film or not is another matter – bit eye watering at times 😯

    just to report back

I watched the Se7en Blu Ray last night

It looks very nice indeed – and is in 1080p – maybe Plumber saw a different version

haven’t looked at the extras yet – but there seem to be a fair few

I don’t think anyone is making a “cheap” android tablet which is worth the money yet. I’m sue it will happen, but now is not the time.

Sure she wouldn’t rather have an iPod touch with that budget?

I love hasbean coffee – but these tasting notes need to be taken with a pinch of salt, they just mean a hint of these flavours.

For the most part they all taste like coffee (nice coffee mind)

sounds like an issue with drivers or something – I assume you are using a PC rather than a mac

I quick google of your message suggests other people have had this issue – so I suggest you have a look at how they sorted it

you just need to make a playlist in itunes – made up of all the tracks from the album you want to burn

Then just select the option to “burn playlist to disc” – can’t recall where it is exactly, but should be easy to find

sounds odd – I have had mine since Aug and have only used about 1gig total. Although this is my 1st iphone so nothing to compare to

most apps aren’t really running in the background – they are just kind of frozen where you left them and ready to pick up again where you left off

But as wwaswas says – things like mapping/ GPS apps can keep running. I have to make a point of properly closing down cyclemeter after I am done with it, as it keeps on running the GPS if I don’t (which runs down the battery)

    thanks

    I don’t have a DVD recorder – and don’t really want one

And I’m most interested in getting HD movies stored somewhere more permanent

Oh well – looks like it might be a no go

This American Life – you can get it as a podcaset or via an iphone app

Briliant public radio show made by Liberal types – can be funny, sad, interesting. And a nice reminder that not all Americans are crazy right wing christians

I like listening to it while i do the washing up

    In defense of Con Air

It is uterly demented – I wouldn’t describe it as lazy and derivative

It is not high art in any sense – but it is very entertaining if you just sit back and enjoy the daftness.

I saw 2012 the other day – not that is ridiculous. Its like watching someone crossing a busy motorway, with each car missing the person by 1cm. When the person gets to the side, they turn around and go back again. For like 2.5 hours)

I have a 3 cup and a 6 cup – the 3 cup= 1 drink for me. The 6 cup = 2 or 3 drinks (but I like a strong milky coffee (with roughly equal milk to coffee)

IME trying to make a smaller amount of coffee then the pot is designed for doesn’t really work

so, I think you should buy a smaller pot

forgot about American Werewolf in London

    and The Empire Strikes Back
    and Unforgiven

and Toy Story (and maybe Toy Story 2, can’t remember if that was 90s or not)

EDIT – forgot about Die Hard as well

I am ashamed to say I have never watched Cinema Paradisio

I taped it off the TV in the 1990s – that tape stayed with me until I got rid of all my VHS about 5 years ago

I then got a copy on DVD free with one of the Papers

Despite this I have never got round to putting it on and watching it. I’m sure its excellent – but I’m just never in the mood for it when I’m choosing something to watch

so, so many beloved films (including most of those above)

but I’m going to make a special shout for the 80s and 90s canon of the director Rob Reiner. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for this fantastic unbroken run of ace films (spanning multiple genres)

    This is Spinal Tap
    The Sure Thing
    The Princess Bride
    When Harry Met Sally
    Stand By Me
    Misery
    A Few Good Men
Mind you, I don’t think he has made anything worth watching since a few good men

some more favorites from the 80s and 90s

    Se7en
    Leon
    Reservoir Dogs
    Pulp Fiction
    Boogie Nights
    Magnolia

    The Thing
    The King Of Comedy
Raging Bull (1980 I think so sneaks in there)

    The Goonies
    Groundhog Day
    Ghostbusters
    ET
    Schindlers List

    Blue Velvet
    Wild At Heart

My favorite really trashy but amazing nonethless film of the 90s is Con Air

odd – that site gives the se7en blu ray 4.5 stars out of 5 for picture, and 5 for sound. And says its in 1080p

Guess I’ll find out when my copy arrives

does anyone know of a decent website where they review the quality of Blu Ray conversions of older films?

There are a number of films I used to have on VHS I would like to get on disc – but it would be helpful to have an idea which films are worth spending extra for blu ray on (expecially considering how cheap DVDs can be these days)

i used to take vitamin c, zinc etc at the first sign of a cold (based on advise from an article in a mag)

However a recent article on Lifehacker.com went through basically everything I was taking and said there was little or no evidence for any of it making a significant difference (including vit c)

I don’t know what to believe now

I seem to have got ill alot over the last 2 winters (missed a ride last night due to not feeling well)

I have had a stressful personal life for a while – and that doeasn’t help

I am now going to try and make an effort to get more sleep – I like to stay up late in the evenings (as I feel like I am maximising my “me” time”) – but I am wondering if this is not helping

I’m going to try my best to get 7 or 8 hours a night for a few weeks and see if things improve

I love that they still use the sound of a needle being pulled off a record at the moment of the comic reveal in movie trailers (when they show you that Adam sandler and Cameron Diaz have turned into dogs or something)

I wonder if the kids watching have any clue where that noise comes from

Can’t beat a home made minestrone with bacon in it, whatever veg is about, beAns, a couple of Parmesan rinds out the freezer, and broken up bits of pasta or spaghetti.

Make a big pot full, that’s several days good eating.
