a banker, a daily mail reader and a man on benefits are sitting together at a table with 12 biscuits on it.

The banker takes 11 of the biscuits, points at the man on benefits and says to the Daily Mail reader “Watch out, he’s after your biscuit”

    already did mine this morning

    top tip

grease your frying pan using “spreadable” butter (real butter with a bit of verg oil added, not low fat spread)

just rub a bit on before you cook each pancake using a scrunched up bit of baking paper

works a treat – perfect amount of grease, buttery taste – but the veg oil stops it burning

I was really excited about GarageBand, that is the one app I have really been waiting for. But, no **** input options?!?! Except the in built microphone? Come on boys sort it out will I just prop the ipad beside my guitar? Rubbish!

kev where did you get this from? You can already buy adapters that let you plug a guitar into an ipad or iphone (such as the irig) – and a quick google suggests that garage band on ipad will let you plug a guitar in (it includes amp modaling etc)

You can just use the iPhone calendar app, no need for a “special” app. The google site has detailed instructions of the correct way to set up the app to make best use of google calendar

    you are new to this

go to the app store and search using the term “web cam”

miniwebcam is a free app which seems to give you what you need – sure there are others to choose from

yes – the cleat is worn

you can tighten the springs on the pedal via a little allan bolt thing – but be careful to clear all the mud out the bolt head properly 1st as they are easy to round off

but if you are on the same cleats that came with the pedals you are doing well – just replace them

at least you can get a date

I’m lucky if I can get someone to respond to a message – think I’m going to give up again, it’s doing my head in

I don’t send them pictures of my penis, maybe that’s what I’m doing wrong

    a grifter
You had a right result! A Grifter was a far superior bike to a crappy BMX.
Ungrateful little git. If youd’ve bin mine, I’d’ve had you adopted.

I was far too well brought up to tell my mum how disappointed I was. And grifters weighed a ton and were rubbish at wheelies

    a grifter

the year that BMX went “big” in the UK and all my mates got them

My mum knew I wanted one – but let the shop assistant talk her into the grifter because the saddles on BMXs looked “too hard”

I was stuck with that bike for years – I know it makes me sound ungrateful, but it felt like a very big deal to me at the time

    update

I decided to take the plunge and got the iRig adapter thing from my LGS today

I’ve downloaded the free amplitube app – and it seems really good

You get a “marshall stack” type amp and a delay in the free app, plus a distortion pedal when you register.

I’ve shelled out for a couple of my favourites (fender 65 deluxe amp and a tube screamer type pedal) – and I’m very happy – the sounds are very good, better than my POD (hardly surprising as that is getting on for 10 years old now)

Only thing to be aware of – the iRig + guitar cable = heavier than an iphone. I imagine it would be quite easy for your phone to be dragged to the floor by accident, so be careful out there

no – that’s not what I want at all

I already have the phone, and my music is already on the phone

I already have a POD – I don’t want to buy another box – I’d rather just stick with what I have

    I’ve recently seen and liked

Blue Valentine (don’t go with the wife if you are experiencing any marital problems)
    Black Swan
    True Grit

anything with a two word title works for me really

    greatest hits

I know its the boring answer – but IMO the Cure are a great singles band, and they don’t really have a single “classic” album

I watched the original last week on Film 4

I watched the new one the other night

The original is a reasonably entertaining 60s western – but really not all that

The new one is very good indeed – the action scenes are the same, but with some variations around who is where when, which improve things and keep it interesting

Considering the stuff around it being a new version of the book and not a remake of the John Wayne film some of the performances are very similar. The guy who sells/ buys horses and the character played by Robert Duvall in the original – both actors in the new one seemed to be playing very close to the original film’s performances

Mine did the exact same thing the other week – just failed out of the blue and little bits like that all over the shop. Mine is a couple of yeArs old though- I didnt even consider chancing my arm at getting a free replacement, I’ve chucked it now.

    it’s an awful film –

unlike Gran Torino it is totally black and white/ goodies and baddies – a ridiculous fantasy.

the scene in the canabis factory is just laughable – I couldn’t get over how bad it was tbh

    2nd Blade Runner

I got the Blu Ray recently – and I’ve watched the film twice this week. Looks amazing, sounds amazing.

I really like the soundtrack to “Out of Sight”

Jaws is unmatched I think for being so integral to the success of the film

i really, really hate the bit where han walks over jabba’s tail in the “improved version”. Jabba is supposed to be a scary gangster – there is no way he would have reacted like that to it. Its just awful.

I’ve got the DVDs with the original versions now – never again will I soil my eyes with the special editions

this is well worth watching (7 parts on you tube)

a review of the phantom menace which manages to be both insiteful and very funny

it brings it home just what an awful job lucas made of the prequels

    LOLs at tom.

bTW a lot of U2 is really badly recorded (over-compressed) – in order to sound good in cars IIRC.

this is true of pretty much all records recorded in the last 15 years or so

I’m no expert – but something new but “quiet” would be good

something like “Master and Everyone” by Bonnie Prince Billy, or one of the Rick Rubin produced Johnny Cash albums

you need a nice warm, sunny windowsill or similar

you also need to repot them

they will do better in the summer – cos there is more sunlight and it is warmer

in my old house I had a “lean to” thing with a see through plastic roof. Supermarket basil plants used to grow crazy big in the summer time – more pesto then any normal family could handle

More expensive – but what about a ps3? It has iplayer and lovefilm, and there is software out there that lets you stream content to it from your computer.

Plus you get a games console and a blu ray player

my bialetti makes a nice crema – I don’t do anything special, I suppose I brew it fairly slow

however – the crema is lost when you pour the coffee into the cup, so not much use really

I started working in the local waitrose at 16 – saturdays and one evening a week, but they were always offering extra evenings on top of that.

In the school holidays I was working there up to 50 hours a week – and I went back during the holidays from uni (first year anyway – then I got long hair and earings which didn’t fit the dress code)

This was before sunday opening and 24 hour opening – so evan more hours to be had these days I would imagine

    i don’t think they do … yet

they are doing what facebook did .. hold back on the ads etc until the sight is well established.

Facebook now has loads of ads – according to “The Social Network” they had few to none at the start – and actively resisted having them initially in order to be regarded as “cool”

albums I have enjoyed this year

    The National – High Violet
Sufjan Stevens _ The Age of Adj
Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (I’ve never really listened to him beyond stuff that gets on the radio – but I got this the other week after it kept cropping up in the best of poles, and it really is very good)
    Steve Mason – Boys Outside
    The Suburbs
    Beach House – Teen Dream
Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan – Hawk
Laura Marking – I speak Because I can
She and Him – Volume 2
