As above – its great to have Bly ray with a love film subscription because it doesn’t cost any more than DVD. I don’t buy many because they are expensive.

seems like it’s been mostly inspired by assault on precinct 13.

its nothing like assault on precinct 13.

It’s more of a John Woo type of film – like the end of “Hard Boiled” in the hospital – but for the whole film.

It’s OK – not as amazing as the reviews suggest

Half wheeling is the worst thing though, caught a guy at some lights the other day, he was on a Cervelo so you can already imagine what he’s like (think Audi driver), he didn’t remove his headphones so couldn’t hear me when I started talking, he then just rode along side me pushing harder and harder with the speed getting higher and higher…clearly a fool

I agree that half wheeling on a group ride is not the done thing, but it sounds like this guy was a bit quicker than you and just wasn’t in the mood for a companion on his ride thet day. If it was me in his shoes though I would have made some sort of excuse for my slowness and let you go off ahead of me, or taken a different route at the earliest opportunity

Strikes me that McCartney made the Beatles marketable, but any genuine edge and brilliance was down to Lennon. Maybe there was some kind of synergy between the two that helped, but without Lennon they would probably have been Freddie and the Dreamers. Or as Alan Partidge put it, “Who are Wings? They’re only the band the Beatles could have been.”

I know I shouldn’t bite – but this opinion is incorrect. Whatever you think about McCartney now in his 60s (or is it 70s?) he brought just as much “edge’ and innovation to the Beatles as Lennon did.

He wrote Helter Skelter, Eleanor Rigby, Paperback Writer, For No One, Get Back, Good Day Sunshine, Got to Get You Into My Life, Sgt Pepper, You Never Give me Your Money, played the solo on Taxman etc etc etc etc.

sorry if this sounds a bit harsh but ….

she obviously liked the look of you when she first met you

now she’s had a chance to spend some time with you she’d realised you are a bit wet (for her anyway) – and is laying down the big smokescreen of the other man, being busy, spending time with friends etc

some people would use the situation you are in to get some reasonably no strings sex then walk away

you are clearly not one of those people

    just walk away

This makes about 5 portions of oatey stuff

Here’s the recipe if anyone wants a nice oaty, yogurty, fruity alternative to hot porridge for breakfast
500g pot of natural/ low fat type yogurt – the “value” stuff works fine
    300g of oats
350g of apple juice (is that 350ml? dunno)
2 tablespoons of agave nectar – they sell it in sainsburys, honey, syrup or sugar would work too
fruit – you can have what you want here, tinned peaches drained and chopped up, chopped apple and blueberries have all worked for me so far
    juice of half a lemon
mix it all up in a big bowel and keep in the fridge – its best to let the oats soften up over night before you eat it

you want a deluxe reverb really, or a princeton reverb. But they don’t have fx loops (and the princeton is a 10″ speaker)

but you don;t need FX, cos you will have fender reverb and vibrato

I think blues juniors are fine personally for the money (as good as a blues deluxe just quieter) – I’ve just got a 2nd hand one on ebay. I might look at modding it at some point though

Go by myself all the time

completely acceptable behaviour if you are a bit of a film geek like me

However I do feel a little self concious doing it at the multiplex, but not at all at the independent/ arty/ whatever cinema

A couple of years ago I was buying furniture alone for me new “post separation” flat. I had bitten off way more than I could chew, and was struggling with a trolley way overloaded with very big boxes. It was a windy day and the boxes were catching the wind. My trolley was behaving like an out of control boat at sea – and I was having real trouble keeping it upright and away from other peoples cars. At some point in all this my receipt blew away. I let it go, preferring to keep my trolley upright.

When I finally got to my car an out of breath girl ram up with my receipt. She had obviously made it her business to chase it round the windy carpark. I couldn’t thank her enough, but was even more grateful the next day when I realised I had failed to take a 2nd box for one item and needed to go back with my receipt to get it.

As has been mentioned above – you can be out and riding very quickly from pretty much anywhere in Brighton

I live on the eastern side of brighton – Elm Grove area – and I can be riding open downland or woody singletrack within about 10 minutes of leaving my flat.
It really depends what you want – kids/ big garden/ driveway etc then suburbs like Woodingdean/ Saltdean etc might work

If you are childless and want nightlife etc then you really want to be living in Brighton/ Hove proper

I love marmite, but my girlfriend gave me a bar of the marmite chocolate and it was uterly vile.

Not because of the marmite – but because it tasted of celery. I checked the ingredients and sure enough it had celery salt in it (i don;t mind celery, just not in chocolate)

and it was too sweet and was milk chocolate

I think marmite chocolate could work – but it needs to be dark chocolate, and no celery salt

i remember hearing a story about a Student who made a similar porridge in a big old school “trunk” and then proceeded to carve bits off for the whole of the term.

The story ended with him getting scurvy – sure it’s an urban myth though

Nice one. Been debating streaming it, but I really want to watch it on my tv rather than a laptop screen

Now the big question is – do I stream mad men series 5, or can I stand the long wait until it comes out on DVD?

Melancholia isn’t really about the end of the world though, well it is sort of, but it’s mainly about depression.

I loved it – but watching from the front row with the shaky hand held camera made me sea sick

One of my ex’s (the one we had problem with…) STILL has our holiday snaps on her Facebook, for all to see. Holidays from 2005/6!!
Bizarrely, they were uploaded AFTER we split up. WTF?
If I was her ‘current’ I’d demand they were taken off!!
She’s clearly still not over me (despite me now being married…), which is a nice smug feeling…

You’re the one looking at your exes Facebook photos. 😉

If you want to go on the big roller coasters on a weekend it’s probably worth it- you can queue for 2 or 3 hours to get on them on busy days.

Next time I’m going to call my eldest daughter in sick from school and go on a weekday

I have the same set-up on 2 bikes – you just need yellow tape, valves and some gunk.

I have used RRs, Nobby Nicks (both older non-tubeless ready types) and Mud xs with no problems at all.

Most of the time they go up fine with a track pump, sometimes I have need to use C02.

When using older tyres I had already used on a bike with inner tubes – I did discover a few holes in the tyres from previous punctures which failed to seal. I patched them up on the inside of the tyre using a regular puncture repair kit.

I got all my stuff from Just Riding Along

I believe if they do an upgrade within about 2 weeks of buying a mac – you are entitled to a free upgrade to the new spec (probably worth asking in a mac store)
