Channel 4 need to up their game with their various players.

The 4od “app” on the ps3 is hopeless compared to the iPlayer and lovefilm

american style with maple syrup and banana

Got one of these electric griddle things last week, which is fantastic for cooking american style pancakes – means you can cook three at a time which stops the kids getting too restless. Next it’s going to get tested making a massive fry up. And bargain cheap as well

I though it was ace – baffled as to what STR thought was wrong with it

It was a bit like a modern retelling of “the monkeys paw”

Manhunter is good , but Silence of the Lambs is superb

So much of it was imitated by subsequent films its easy to dismiss it now as cliched – but it was all fresh at the time. It’s such a “tight” film

The rest are all awful though

The BBC Hitchcock film on over Christmas was pretty good – was a pretty unflattering view of Hitchcock

That was a good episode – I can see it being spun out into a movie

Odd that no one in Hollywood has optioned the “prime minister makes sweet love to a pig” episode

“Inception” should have been called “exposition” – any film where the main character has to spend an age telling Juno what the film is about has failed IMO

it looks great – but compare it to Blade Runner or 2001. No one is required to spend endless minutes of screen explaining how the film works to you, and they are all the better for it

My girlfriend recently got a topeak race rocket hp. It’s fantastic – hose connector thing to avoid broken valves. Screws on to prestas, so no leaks. Converts from presta to schraeder with a simple twist. I’m going to get one, loads better than my current Blackburn mini pump which I thought was good

Evernote is good too – but more complex as it involves photos etc

Simplenote is text based only – I prefer it for the simplicity over Evernote

Can’t speak for the notes app, but I use simplenote on my phone, and notational velocity on my mac for cloud based note taking.

    They sync together perfectly

I have a very small leyzene one where I keep a tube, co2, multi tool, patches and spare chain links.

I very rarely even have to open it

In my jersey pocket I have another tube, tyre lever, a co2 and co2 inflator head thing held together in a rubber band. This is what I grab when I get a puncture

Food, keys, phone, gilet/ waterproof go in jersey pockets also

    Mini pump on the frame

I scored high on everything 🙂

still suprised how many I got wrong – I found the musical “genre” bit a bit odd, none of it sounded like rap to me, and the pop bits sounded like cod reggae

. If you really want the original theatrical releases you’ll no doubt pay a large amount of money (a quick google would suggest the 2008 DVD with old and new versions on is going for three-figure prices)

In a purely intellectual way of course, Brian Cox. With Robin Ince, Dara O’Brein, Sir Ranulph, Victoria Wood & Sandy Toksvig. With Keely Hawes sitting opposite, as I hear she has a quiet voice and I would hate to miss her bon mots.
EDIT: damn too slow on the Cox!

I’ve had a few pints with Robin Ince (back in the 90s, mutual friend). He is a nice bloke and the same in real life as on stage/ the radio

My new ” easy” comfort favourite

    Chilli fries

Cook skinny oven chips – then transfer to an oven proof dish and smother with a can of chilli and grated cheese. Return to the oven till its all delicious

It’s amazing – gunfights are some of the best ever. Seemed to be almost raining blood at one point!

Very funny too. It’s his best film since Jackie Brown

My (very modest) Cambridge audio amp (blue LEDs) has a bypass button so you can take the tone controls out the circuit

I use it – but I’m not sure I can actually perceive any difference

1/2 cup oats, 3/4 cup milk, 1/2 cup water.

Splash of cold milk at the end to loosen it up

Exactly what Boba Fett says, you can’t beat a Jazzmaster without the tone circuit. Tone circuits are the biggest load of cock to infect electric guitars since the original Jaguar bridge

don’t agree. I’m always tweaking my tone knobs 🙂

got tickets booked for “Django Unchained” on Friday eve

I was a huge Tarantino fan in the nineties, but since Jackie Brown there is no doubt quality has suffered

Kill Bill was OK ish (bit would have been better as 1 film)
    Death Proof was a misfire
Inglorious Basterds was an improvement – with some amazing scenes, but patchy

I’m feeling optimistic about Django. Fingers crossed

I’m also keen to see Zero Dark Thirty

No issues with geometry – if you run a 100mm fork the handling is super fast and perfect for XC

Yes it’s a bit heavier than a carbon frame – so I guess it depends how important weight is to you and how light your other components are.

I’ve got Calexico, Dutch Uncles and Caitlin Rose lined up for February

Need to book a few more for the rest of the year really!
