Sub 100kg now, just, at 99.8kg!

Think hitting 90kg in 7 weeks is very optimistic, but I’ll leave the target as it is – sub 90kg is still the end goal, however long it takes.

Thanks again to Jonv for keeping us on track!

I’m loosing 1lb a week at the min… Not great to hit my 200lb target!

Interestingly, yesterday I found a weight tracker spreadsheet on my OneDrive from the start of 2016… I was 281 LBS back then! lost 3 then gave up tracking it.

    I’d rescue the poor git.

Even death at birth by having your eyes and tongue pecked out sounds more humane that being trapped for weeks in small box while you starve.

looks nice to me, more so in the second set of photos.

    Bar ends are great IMO.

I took my Mrs for a meal to the pub where we had a our first date, then the pub we had our second date.

Planned to ask her at the first one, but bottled it, so second pub was plan b, bottled that too.

Leaving pub b, I noticed the Big wheel thing that was in the centre of Sheffield at the time, though about getting the Champaign VIP room as plan c, but bottled that too.

So just waited until we got home, just said I wanted to ask her something, we both sat down on the sofa and I got the ring out of my pocket and asked. Simples but boring! 😀 She was over the moon.

I just couldn’t bring myself to the down on one knee thing in public, she probably wouldn’t have liked it either to be honest.

Bought my XT BB on from Chainreaction… No tool, just the BB in a bag. Was a bit of shock, especially as my old BB had been removed in anticipation the night before and I want to go out on the bike.

Has anyone fitted a Shimano HTII BB lately? I had to buy a special adapter because they’ve changed the shell and the size of the install tool! 👿

Why!! The new BB are a smaller external diameter now, which saves weight but you’ve got to think that the smaller bearings wont last as long as the older ones…

Migraines and work don’t mix. It’s not like you can just come in a do a bit for the day or muddle through, they pretty much end your day and remove the possible of doing anything but sleeping it off.

I had them a lot when I was younger (and my diet/stress/depression was far worse), and I eventually lost my job (was sacked) as I was declared unfit to do it. They sent me to a private doctor and requested all my medic records (through the private doctor) to get evidence to prove this.

I only get them once or twice a year now, but they are still horrendous things. I always try to work up some of my hours even now, because I’m aware it can be a big inconvenience to my employer.

I think it’s good you’ve given some slack, and not seen them as just a headache (which most non-sufferers see them as), but I guess there has to be a line where someone just isn’t fit enough to be employed… How you decide where that line is, I don’t really know.

With the pannier on, and if you really honk on the barends up a steep hill, you can feel a bit of flex in the rear triangle, but only just. Maybe with two fully loaded panniers it would be annoying, but I only want to use it for commuting and some very light touring.

Best looking VFR I think, and a great buy at £1400. I traded in my silver vtec VFR for a 2014 Multistrada.

The Ducati is an awesome bit of kit, but overkill. Sometimes wish I’d kept the VFR as it was fun enough, reliable and cheap to run.

These days all my commutes are by pushbike, and any free days I have for fun is spent on the MTB. Shame to have two nice motorbikes sat unused in the garage, but they’re there for when I feel like it.

I’m off to buy my wedding outfit this afternoon, as mrs Binners has been daft enough to agree to officially become Mrs Binners in June.

Congratulations to Binners! Commiserations to Greggs! 😛

2 lbs off over the last two weeks. I’m still super critical of my food at meal times and eat well, but seem to be randomly snacking a bit more. I’m happy with that for a long term way of eating (and I’m sure I could happily eat that way forever now), but would like to diet better until I’m under 14 stone. Need to try a bit harder, but still happy with 2 lbs off. 🙂

Sounds rough, hope you get it sorted out one way or another.

I guess being honest is the next step? You obviously don’t trust her, and don’t like her explanation, so tell her that and take it from there.

Stewing over it long term wont help either of you…

I do find it harder to get motivated for weekend rides when I’ve commuted all week, but I just don’t see it as a bad thing. Commuting is riding, and riding is always fun – even if you have to ride home tired in the pissing rain, you feel good after. So for me at least, its no big deal if I miss a weekend ride, I’ve still done nearly 100+ miles of riding for the week.

Your situation sounds great, 3 days riding (building fatigue each day), then a day or two rest ready for a decent ride on sat or sun.

Also, remember how mind numbingly boring it is to be sat in a car, in traffic for 45mins every morning and evening…

I was watching this with my parents, he basically rear ended a crashed car at full speed! Very sorry for the lad.

I don’t normally watch any car based racing, but I was a bit shocked at what goes on in the lower levels of car motorsport, there where more cars on the grass than on the track for most of it!

Think its great that some people want to help. 🙂

    Hi Grum,

It sounds like you’ve had a hard time lately, sorry to hear that.

I agree with Ox, talk to some one impartial as soon as you can about the suicidal thoughts, and seek out some professional help – your way of seeing yourself is basically incorrect, you see yourself as bad or damaged or hopeless, but I can guarantee no one else does and the vast majority of people would see a lot of good in you if they met you!

    Gore Alp-x bib-baggies are great. Pricy though…

The red ones come up on sale quite often on Amazon – I got some for £60.

I’ve been a bit quiet on here, so though I’d join back in properly.

Well done to everyone still going (the total amount lost is huge!), and thanks as ever to Jon for keeping on top of it all. 😀

Had a slow and tough few weeks after doing some races, just managed 1/2 a lbs down at the last weigh in, which seemed to take a lot of work, and now I’ve put that 1/2 lbs back on!

Two weeks before Easter me and the mrs had a week off work – I rode a lot (several short 2/3 hour rides, did my first 100km ride in about 8 years, followed two days later by a 70km off road epic). I ate a bit more than usual to recover from the rides, but not massively. Lost nothing and did a knee in!

Last week was terrible for commuting – sore knee, sore back, sore attitude from being back at work, tired, started comfort eating a bit.

I think training for races and trying to increase the length and speed of my rides while dieting has pushed me a bit too far, so I decided I needed a break and to re-focus…

Easter weekend isn’t a great for weight loss anyway… various big meals, too much chocolate to ignore (for me anyway!) and some drinking too. I did try and restrain myself but as ever ate a lot of chocolate and sweets, so 1/2 a lbs on isn’t bad I guess, and hopefully it’ll come back off quick!

Was nice to have 4 days break from riding and weight loss, but need to get back on it now I’m rested. I’ve got 25 lbs to shift in about 10 weeks. 😯 If anyone can spare any motivation, please send it my way! 😀

Was up on Cut Gate myself, probably took the wrong bike, Surly KM with the stock rigid fork, so had to push a bit more than I’d like, but had fun anyway.

Did a mini-epic from home to Langset then over Cut Gate to Derwent and some food at Ladybower Inn, then back home via Bradfield. Awesome 67km in the sun. B)

I didn’t know much about Mike until his interview after the tour divide last year, but what he achieved was incredible and inspirational.

So sad to hear the news this morning. Thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP.

Last weeks weigh in wasn’t that good for me, probably due to not riding much the week before and eating loads of carbs on Thurs/Fri to fuel up for HTN.

Seems to have caught up this week though, 3.8 lbs down from last Friday. 🙂 I’ll take that!

HTN 6 – I’m well up for another go. 🙂

Maybe I’ll put some less bald tires on this time, and learn to deal with mud better!

I’m sure I could have done much better if I wasn’t spending most of the lap going slow just trying to stay upright. 😳

I’ve always struggled with mud, on the MTB and motocross/enduro bikes (in the past) – need help with it to be honest!

Bad and good news today, got to buy a nice new motorbike jacket which is very nice and fits awesome but a bit tight so I can slim into it (size is a large) – I’m chuffed that I needed to buy it, old jackets are like riding wearing a tent! Bad news is I had to buy a new motorbike jacket today! – they ain’t cheap!

Luckily I bought some Kevlar jeans in the wrong size about 4 years ago and they fit great now. 🙂

That was an awesome race! Really enjoyed my self and did my goal of four laps. 😀

More importantly, my big bro got his first ever podium in the 3rd place spot!! Proud is an understatement. If anyone has any photos of the podium, would you be kind enough to email them to me? We didn’t have a camera on us… Email in my profile.

Thanks to all who set up and ran this awesome race.

Not the best week for me, still eating 1500 kcals a day but not ridden much at all this week – recovering a bit for HTN tomorrow. 🙂

Next week I’ll be back on weight loss with a vengeance! 😈

Was pondering, rigid steel 29er or SC Superlight for HTN.

Looks like a ridged bike would be best?

On for a good one this week, I may even overthrow Santsw13 as “biggest loser” if I’m lucky! 😉

800 Kcal a day is harsh! 😯 I’ve struggled with 1400 a day for the last two weeks, but I have commuted a (hilly) hour each way too.

    grenosteve

So how’s everyone doing? still on it I hope!

I had an ace week last week, dropped my daily kcals a bit and stuck to it really well, and made sure everything I ate was very low fat.

This week feels slower – some one brought biscuits into the office (be rude not to have a couple! 😛 ) and had a few treats at the weekend, need to re-focus a bit.

Still, looks like I’ll be sub 100kg at the start of April, maybe even in March.

Feeling much quicker on the bike too, so feeling good for Hit The North in a few weeks. 🙂

I get where you are coming from.

I’d like a do it all bike really but enjoy my ridged steel MTB as much as my full suss, but not sure I could do away with one – I’d like to ride the ridged steel all the time, but living next to some good trail centre type stuff and downhill tracks means the full sus is a good bike to own.

The full sus is actually faster even on the road because it’s pretty light, but servicing shocks/forks/bearings really annoys me. I took the dropper off it because I couldn’t be arsed to pay £100+ to service it!

In the end I just decided to keep them both and not care about new stuff, too many choices!

    Down to 107kg (236lbs) from 118.6kg in Jan (261.5lbs). 🙂

Had a slow start to Feb, concentrating more on getting fitter and faster than loosing weight, but back on weight loss (and maintaining fitness).

I definitely need new clothes now, the pair of jeans I leave at work have the belt done up so tight the front bulges out making it look like I sport a semi all day! 😆

The older (1″ 1/8 headtube) Karate Monkey is a lovely bike! I love mine – it was briefly sold to my brother, but after nagging him for it back for a few months, it’s now back in my care. 🙂 The ogre is the same, just with more braze on points for luggage.

I think the newer KM is more of a trail focused rigid MTB than an all round 29er, and may loose some of the springy steel charm of the old one.

I think you could just build one for £1k, maybe need to find the bits on sale though…
